He made it look so easy. I traveled from Tyrone to games just to watch him, he was just class. Like Paddy on Mastermind with a specialist subject of the Troubles: tell them feck all! I wouldn’t tell those two clowns anything either.
Joe was an excellent player who showed unbelievable skills throughout his career. He always showed pure class and always made time for children and his supporters. Thank you for everything you did for Galway hurling. It has been a pleasure to watch you over the years. Thanks for the memories you did your county very proud.💖
It was always great to see the attention he gave to young fans after every game - whatever the venue, whatever the result. Whether he's the best ever will always be debated, but one thing is for sure: he was pure class, in many ways.
One of the greatest of all time. He was a pleasure to watch, even as non Galway man. Seems a pure gent in interviews too, hope inter County retirement treats him well.
I donno about anyone else but I found it hard to watch joe so down, what this lad has done for galway and the game of hurling is second to none the man is an absolute legend and without a doubt GAA hall of famer....let the man be,you can clearly see he us down about his countys performance and his future to galway. I feel sorry for the lad,an absolute gent and legend hats off to you Joe from a limerick man👍
Great interview. Joe will always be one of the hurlers that will stand out from the rest. He's hurting now, physically and mentally, but with the passage of time, he will be proud of all he has achieved. He still has a lot to contribute to the game and will be a great influence on young players. Best wishes Joe for the future.
As a Wexford hurling supporter happy retirement Joe he's a super player congratulations on a super Galway hurling career delighted to see him win a All Ireland medal in 2017 super player #Respect was a joy watching him at the hurling games in person over the years class act people wanting him to retire is disrespectful and disgusting incredibly brilliant player and fair both on and off the pitch
Joe is the best all round hurler i have ever seen and that's over 60 years ....from a clare man .........PS I might have to change my mind in 7 years time Re Tony Kelly ...if I'm still alive ?.?.
Met Joe about three/four years ago after a Portumna match against Gort. He was a real Gent. Iasked if i could have a photo with him, no problem. There were a lot more waiting to see them and he spent time in seeing all of them.Took him ages to get back to the change rooms.
He knew he was retiring during that interview, you could see the sadness in his eyes on his face, when he said, hopefully we'll see you in a Galway jersey soon, he knew, we'd never seem him in a maroon jersey again...!
He wasnt so sure about retiring here. Joe is 32, look at TJ, he's 36! Its massively disrespectful for people to almost force his hand through speculation. He might be open to returning?. Hes nowhere near finished imo. Change your mind joe!
I'd love to be picked by Galway and I would give myself just one job, to put the knackers in hospital that would do any off the ball or on the ball knackery to our class players. Hurling referees and GAA hq have a lot to answer for. Namely not enforcing the rules of the game and promoting GBH. Ice Hockey has enforcers. Just let me on and I'd give em a taste of their own medicine. The ref isn't gonna protect ye.
@@sir243_simr I think his injured hand has something to contribute to his melancholy. Whatever his joylessness now he brought joy to the neutral on Sunday with his passes and many more Sundays in the past. Keep going Joe forever, if ever dropped by Galway come down to Cork and play in perpetuity.
Galway were knocked out of the championship at the weekend and you expect Joe to be smiling and laughing in an interview? It’s a test to his character that he took this interview, you must have a very hollow head
The greatest hurler I ever saw, watching hurling for 60 years. Wexford hurling supporter.
Where do you put Ring , Keher , Sheflin in the mix ...like yourself I'm around a while!
This aged well

Probably the best ever
He was playing senior club hurling at 15, and anyone who knows Galway club hurling, knows that it is savage hurling at times...!

He was the greatest I’ve ever seen. A winner at every level.
A superb player and decent person. Makes you proud to be Irish.
Whoever wanted him to retire is so disrespectful he’s an icon in this county legend and still our best player. You’ll be missed Joe
What you mean he will be missed, with that statement you're retiring him...
@@sir243_simr he announced his retirement earlier on
@@aaronnolan2340 yeah only seen that shortly after i posted that comment, thanks
He wanted himself to retire!
He was one of the all time greats ...and I have seen a few.

Feel for Joe. At least he got his Celtic Cross unlike so many other greats.

Sure maybe not playing but he's always gonna be Galway through and through with the white and maroon
Class act!!
One of the best
As a Galway woman I’ve never been so proud of someone representing our county. We all love Joe and it’s disgusting how people push him to retire
Well this is horrific
I'm not the brits biggest fan but your man Harry the Prince refferred to Joe as a god now if its not time for reunification when is it 🤣🇮🇪
Some player. Class act from a corkman
He was indeed.

Tj isn't 36 he is 34 in November
Oops. Sorry🤦♂️. But, that aside, hes still outshining most. Hope joe isnt gone for good, but maybe he is.

A modest gentleman is joe limerick man here sad to see him hang up boots
I don’t think he enjoyed this interview
A great player and a joy to watch, but my god what a Debbie downer! He must suck the joy out of the dressing room, very negative mindset.
What do you expect they had a great league but a whimper of a championship, you would be disappointed if it was you
