Block scheduling and having a morning and school routine :) Also, only putting three daily things on my to do list ( aside from my morning and school routines) what do you think??
We’re big on prepping the day before. Because I work overnights from home, I prep during my breaks and by the time the kids are up, they start on their independent work while I sleep.
Oh thank you so much for this!! You're videos are always answering all my questions 😭❤️ I really felt that God led me to your channel, bc I'm always so encouraged and come out feeling like I can totally do this homeschooling thing. It's our third year in and we're still figuring out alot 😄
I don’t know where you’ve been all my life but I am glad I found your channel. The most realistic homeschool channel! Perfection free yet efffective. 🎉
I love what you said about it being ok to not have things perfect and enough is ok. That is profound. Not everything can be a high priority thing when there are so many things to be worried about.
i have found for myself, i am able to get about 6 to-do items (mainly things i really want done) done on my list each day. ie...workout, post something to social media, holy time for me, etc.... And now I have realized that maybe it is because I have that many time blocks each day that I can squeeze in something I want done!
You’re content has blessed my family tremendously! You are doing good work for the Kingdom! May God bless you with health and happiness. Sending my love from Louisiana!
I changed my husband's ringtone and notifications so that if he is trying to get a hold of me while at work I will know vs anything else that can wait. Putting the phone down was so hard before that, and I did get rid of all the rest of the 'apps' that were time consuming as well.
This was great!! What kills us is out of the home activities. Our special needs kids have a total of 6 therapies a week. We spend a lot of time driving and waiting in parking lots. 😔 Then when we are home, scheduling in home health nurses and treatments for 1 while the other 5 kind of try to do independent work. We struggle 😑
Hi Erin love this video. Can you please add a link to the videos/documentaries that you use or recommend? I am trying to be very careful of what I let my kids watch. Thanks again for all your tips!
Love this video! Great useful tips as always. I laughed so hard when you said you buy half a cow. We should definitely do that too haha. I encourage all mamas to give your kids a chore they feel so independent completing a task and helping this family. As a home maker I use the clean mama weekly routine super flexible. I also have a list of meals my family enjoy that I pull from each week. Tuesday is shop day and library book pick up. For our homeschool is it ridiculously hot here so play time is in the morning and we school in the afternoon. How we live matters to me and shapes our life.
Haha! I suppose the correct term would be a side of beef or half a beef. But technically we have to purchase before slaughter so it’s still living when we order it (hence the cow or steer). 😅
Thank you, Erin! This was perfect! I am in the middle of a health scare and homeschooling and started a blog beginning of the year and been feeling so overwhelmed (not realizing it was partly because I was so extremely low on iron). Whilst I have been praying to get through each day to my infusion, I have been also really feeling like the Lord wants to use this as a reset button. Your video on block scheduling home school made me nosy as to what you do about your own to-dos… et voilà! The answer! Curious though as to what you categorize as the 3 to-dos for the day. I am assuming it is not cooking meals or doing laundry 🧺! You are so encouraging. Thank you!
Sorry to hear you’re going through a tough season! But I’m glad to hear the videos have been helpful! For my to-do’s, it’s definitely more of the out of the norm things that I don’t do every day like pay bills, or clean the bathroom, or library trip, or dentist appt, or take our son to his piano lesson, decluttering a small area, things like that! On days we homeschool, they are definitely smaller items than off days. Hope that helps! Blessings! ❤️
@@TheEclecticHomeschooler thank you, that is very helpful! I was always wondering how I could get to just 3 😅 I am grateful for how down to earth you are … I guess it makes one feel so much more that you are approachable! You are a blessing!
I searched for "how to run a blog and homeschool". Scrolling through the results I saw your video and was like "Yes, this is what I'm looking for!" Thank you for the time you put into this. I have a blog, youtube channel (both are just babies, lol) I homeschool and we have a small homestead. I feel like I'm drowning.😂 Thank you.
hi!! This was a really great video; I especially enjoyed the Homemaking and Homeschooling tips for time management. Things I feel like I know, however seeing it all in one video and listed out like this is a great reminder. Happy Homeschooling!!!
I definitely need to do better with time management. I'm still getting use to being a sahm, homeschooling, homemaking and working on my channel. You really gave some helpful tips. I'm trying to make meal planning a weekly must for me...I really enjoyed how work things out especially with balancing the time you spend on your channel which is something I've been trying to do better. I definitely found recording two videos at the same time has helped recently....I definitely have to watch this again with a pen and paper lol
😍I just recently found your beautiful channel and am loving it! 💛 I'm a homeschool graduate and have been homeschooling my own children for 12 years. I did some time management blog posts a couple years ago and am transferring them to YT for homeshcool mama's, and so was researching the topic here on YT and your's popped up first in my feed. You've covered so many critical area's! One I would add is to use auto responder for text's, and have a special greeting message on your phone, and to turn the ringer down when doing lessons. For my message I tell callers that text is always the best way to reach me, and that I will get back to them after school is finished. I have had a lot of trouble in times past with people showing up uninvited, calling to chat, talk about their pet's and other random nonsensical stuff, all during school hours. I even have family that will not come when we are on school breaks, they think we should break for them whenever they want to come. So I had to be really firm and it was difficult but our homeschool is much healthier and happier.
All the kids are allowed to get up at 7:30, they’re often awake earlier but have to stay in their rooms until then. If the kids sleep longer though, I wake them up by 8:00 on days we do school so we’re not rushing to get everything in.
I love all of your ideas 💡. Can you put being a caregiver for my 85 year old mom in there and working remotely at night till 11 or 11:30pm. I know I need to get up earlier, however it is so hard when I work that late. Please keep telling me to stop watching UA-cam videos so much. I am addicted. And yes I am also homeschooling our twin boys.
Oh wow! You're in a tough season of life! Hang in there, mama! Read How To Break Up With Your Phone for an eye opening read about how social media and being on our phones has a seriously negative effect on your brain. 😱
Do you have a video on the types of food you buy in bulk or keep at all times? We are a family of 7. We have raised meat chickens before and killed them. We did that for about 3 years and my kids can't do that anymore. We've raised 3 pigs but that meat doesn't last long. We've bought 1/4 of a cow before but it just doesn't last long at my house. We do have hens for laying. I make my own bread. How do you know how long flour, oats, or anything dry last?
I don’t have any videos about this stuff. I try to keep all my videos about homeschooling. 😉 I purchase all of our flours/grains, spices & seasonings, and canned foods in bulk, and stock up if I see something I know we use on sale. Azure and Costco are great for a lot of that stuff! I’m sure you could google how long dry food items keep. I normally purchase enough at a time to last us about 3 months before I would need to restock. I keep my grains and flours in 3 or 5 gallon food grade buckets and then refill a smaller container to keep them on hand in my pantry.
I love the idea of waking up early and having time alone but I have a toddler that doesn’t sleep well so this area makes me feel so guilty…if I’ve had a rough night and can’t get up early.
Don’t feel guilty! You need your rest, mama! I didn’t get up earlier until my kids were all consistently sleeping through the night. This season will pass and then you can get up earlier. ☺️
Haha. Yes we do. We’ve done it for years! We have a freezer in our garage and we just thaw meat as we need it. It saves a lot in the long run by buying in bulk and we can get local grass fed beef which is another bonus!
What is your best time management tip?
Block scheduling and having a morning and school routine :) Also, only putting three daily things on my to do list ( aside from my morning and school routines) what do you think??

I could definitely do better scheduling in play. I think intentionally adding it in would really help our homeschool flow. Love all of this! 💕💕
Yes on play! We do lunch at 11:30 and back to school work by 2 if all goes well.
Amen sister putting God first 🥺❤️🙌🏽

Hi. Out of topic. I'm curious about the spiral stairs. Where does it lead to? Do you get kinda "dizzy" or disoriented when you use those stairs? 😊
