This is the only video I have seen where you use the swivel to twist the wire instead of trying to align and twist the wire itself. Makes all the difference in the world!
I have got the twist and the barrels sorted, I am not having great success breaking off the tag end, I am using 39lb afw, I'll keep practicing. I am chasing small bluefish for shark bait
Barrel wraps will slip under load if there is no haywire twist. The critical part of the haywire twist is having both pieces twisting around each other whereas barrel wraps are only twisting the tag end around the main piece of wire. Barrel wraps are really just locking the haywire twist in place. I usually will do 5-6 twists followed by just 3 or 4 barrel wraps but it's all preference.
hey me and my dad got a shimano sahara reel spooled with 200yards or so of 15 pound braid what rod should we get we dont surf fish much but we pier fish and dock fish so thx
Trevor Belton Braided cable[wire] needs to be sleeved, BUT it wont kink as badly as plain stainless wire. It's Expensive too! I use Malin's coffee colored fishing wire. Capt Roy Allan
I'm trying this with 3 feet of #15 AFW 240lb wire and a 15/0 Mustad circle hook (seems smaller than the typical 15/0 circle though) and it just isn't happening: the wire's much to stiff to handle it like you're doing in the video with supposedly even thicker (?!) wire. I looked for a haywire twist tool locally and online and the only economical ones (read: non-table units) are only good up to #12 wire. I'm just getting into LBS fishing with a older Penn 9500SS, 12 ft mh-action surf rod, and 500 yards of 50lb braid with 8 feet of 400lb mono to the wire, but anything above #12 wire seems like overkill to me if I'm just going to wade-out to waist-high level and cast (what? 50 yards??) from there. Or do I have it all wrong?? All I know is that my hands currently look and feel as if I walked a handstand a couple miles down I-10 in this hot, blistering July sun. I'm in Pensacola - lots of bulls and blacktips cruising the beaches around here - but from where I'm going to be fishing/casting, I don't think I'd be looking at anything above 5 or 6 feet in length. Or, again, do I have it all wrong? Any input would be appreciated.
Okay I have never used wire before. I catch stingrays well over 100 pounds but the only place I can fish doesn't have any big sharks but I want a wire leader just in case a shark does come by. Your videos rock man keep it up.
***** Thanks. I went on your website and tried to contact you that way because I had a few questions, but the captcha area wouldn't display what the captcha actually was, so I couldn't type it in to submit the question. Maybe that's just my computer, but I wanted to let you know
Dude how the hell did you twist 19 wire by yourself I cant even do a haywire twist with one strand of #15 wire by hand im using Malin Hard wire stainless steel leader #15 and its impossible to make a haywire twist with

It’s amazing how easily you do this. I’m just now learning and practicing on my couch with 185 lb rated wire and it’s giving me a hell of a time.
@@843Landbased try 400

thanks you make everything look so simple and easy, great vid.
dude great twist, looks very nice!!!
very helpful video. I love this channel . I hope to run into one day so we can fish! lol
The name of the product is Bronze Nylon Coated Wire (1 x 7 Stainless Steel). The manufacturer is Boone Bait
thank you bro for a good idea
Oh ok, And you use crimps to attach the mono to the swivel that the wire is attached to as well as the swivel that goes to the main line?
yeah it takes alot to tie the haywire right with heavy gauge wire
I use AFW wire and can't wrap it that way. Please advise
So you use the haywire twist attaching it to your hook and to your swivel? And then just attach your main line to the swivel?
Great vid!!!! What is the purpose of the haywire twist why not not a simple wrapped eye?

Well done!
would a abu garia alphamar spooled with 700 yards of 30# braid be good for 2-6 foot sharks
when I attempt to twist the wire, all it does is spring back out. A little help?
Same here man very frustrating
oh okay, how many strands minimum must the wire be to tie the haywire?

Is it better to use wire rather than steel cable for shark fishing? What is the benefit? Thanks!

whats the largest shark you would target with #10 wire
Do you guys use plain wire or plastic coated wire
Let's go fishing Josh
Dude I can't do this with 280 pound wire. How do you make it so tight and clean?
I just started salt water fishing and I need ideas to catch huge fish off piers and shore please help me

You need to practice. It took me a while to develop the finger muscles to twist 2 strands of #19 wire.
For Walton Beach here. I just pulled in a 8ft hammer head off the Beach of okaloosa island.
okay what size wire should i use # 15 doubled ?
where can I source stainless steel wire to make my own rigs?
Can you tie this S straight to your main line?
will this work for makos ?
What wire is ideal for this?
is the star rod delux any good
Nice!
I believe its single strand with a nylon coating
easy, thanks
What kind of wire breaks after 3 turns
Nice.
do you have to use fishing wire or it can be just normal wire for fishing for sharks? thx
Ibnu Pasha Papadimitriou For single strand you need to use a haywire twist. For cable, you need to crimp and use sleeves.
***** thx
Good Video
can you do this with 180# wire leader or would that be too hard to twist
The wire in this video was 360#

can you use this on 7 strand wire, it's proving to be difficult and normally I'm good with this stuff
+Elvis P No, you need to crimp 7-Strand wire.
Elvis P try a figure 8 knot or crimp
okay thanks ive got 16/0 circles they should work
is it possible with plastic coated wire?
ben huynh no
can I do this at the 3 way swivel instead of crimping?
boyrandom72 If you are going to connect heavy mono or cable to anything you will have to crimp.
Daytime swordfishing videos here!
There was a little tool that could buy to twist wire I forgot what it's called
Uh why did UA-cam recommended me this 8years later
Good video but the lighting in the video was killing me!
This is kinda like safety wiring
Is that like for catchin shacs.
Dude how the hell did you twist 19 wire by yourself I cant even do a haywire twist with one strand of #15 wire by hand im using Malin Hard wire stainless steel leader #15 and its impossible to make a haywire twist with
Wire name plzzzź.
NICE
Can u catch a shark with just mono
It's possible, but you will lose a lot of sharks. If a sharks teeth touch that mono under pressure, it's going to cut.
I just cant make a wire leader its just so difficult
kevin williams You have to practice, I didn't learn on my first try. It took me a while to get it right.
buy a premade wire trace
about 200 lbs 300 max then
XD
