    what in the gods and goddesses names were Volvo engineers thinking when they came up with this placement for the cabin filter? Not sure if I want to do this much work for cleaner air. This is insane.

    my thoughts are like this: Volvo spend all their budget on the actual genius God that designed the removable headlights (I want to hang his picture on my wall), then went broke, and hired a 2$/h student to design the cabin air filter location.

    If you know what you're doing changing the filter takes 3 minutes. 1st you need to pull back the carpet on the floor to give you access to the fuse box and then just feel for the tab above the box or rip it out and pull it out of its slot and set it aside, it won't break if you grab it firmly. That gives enough space to get the filter cover open and rip the old filter out. You then need to roll up the new filter and kinda tuck it under the dash where the fuse box was and just get it to enter the filter slot on one end and unravel the roll into there. Then just put the lid on, smack the fuse box on and put the carpet back and boom, you didn't need to disassembe half the car!

    • @WestfieldFreshAir
      @WestfieldFreshAir 7 місяців тому

      Having just changed it without moving the small black fuse box, your method sounds spot on for fastest one. I must make some notes for next time.

      is the battery disconnecting a must-have step too?

    • @OfficialXiaoLing
      @OfficialXiaoLing 17 днів тому

      @@hq1998 it's good practice, but i've usually let it stay connected since i never disconnect any cables or fuses from the fusebox. You just need to be careful enough to not break any tabs or wires off the box since you do need to manhandle it a little to get it to co-operate... There are tabs above the box on the upper legs, push them and at the same time push the fuse box upwards towards the dash. It's slotted in like that, so you can't just rip it straight out if you want to keep it properly intact. It totally sucks ass to do, since the space is really cramped, but it's definitely the fastest way to get the filter in and out.

    Wrong procedure! You don't need to remove most of that, not even the glove box! All you need is to remove that smaller module out of the way and you can access the filter from the bottom. Done it coutless times and it takes 30 minutes only. Also you don't need to disconnect the battery. It's useless to do it as you will not be removing all those modules.

    Well I got scared watching this, so I tried to change the cabin air filter without removing the glove box and all these extra electrical boxes. There is no doubt that by removing all this like you did it will be easiest to change the filter. But it is possible just by taking of the first cover and then the rele box thing. But you have to twist and find a way for the filter to get it in witch was tricky.

    Hi and thanks for sharing. How often do you need to change fuel filter inside the tank. My V60 is t4 and I’m told that the filter is inside the tank. Please advise. Thanks 🙏🏾

    So this is the space shuttle cabin filter removal video? The dealership would charge a LOT of money to do this

    Watched this video in complete disbelief. You dont have to remove the damn glovebox or any of the electrical components except for the fusebox to gain access. But if you want more work sure, follow this.

    Thanks! My new NAPA filter doesn't bend, which made removing the ECU necessary. What a dumb design. In my Honda changing the cabin filter was a 3 minute job and most of that time was emptying the glovebox!

    I have a 2017 S90. Is it the same as this? I feel like you need an engineering degree just for cleaner air.

    I've done this job multiple times and removing the ECU is not required. I don't think I removed the glove box either. IMO messing with the ECU adds unnecessary risk to the the job. The cabin filter is also flexible...after you remove the old filter, you can feed the new filter in by bending it. Easy. I agree with all the negative comments regarding Volvo engineering.

      It's mentioned on the FCP Euro product page that the CareMetix filters are more rigid than standard cabin filters, and therefore need the extra clearance for install as you can't bend them

    Thanks again guys for a great instructional video! I'm glad I followed your video, as someone else did one and they butchered the filter! Did mine the day of this comment and the filter I pulled out was so bent up and smooshed I imagine it wasn't doing its job. Little bit more time and effort but much worth!

    oh. it's more work than I thought.
    BTW, it might be depend on where/how the car is used, but how often the filter should be replaced?

    • @pulser8973
      @pulser8973 Рік тому

      Definitely depends on your area but not a bad thing to do every 2-3 oil changes depending on your interval (every 2 for 10k, 3 for 5k).
