I love the Superior 4.0 (on my 3rd pair) and I am sure I will love these. They are great for short (5 - 7km) on the road too. Light, flexible, great feel for the terrain and just a nice amount of cushioning. They also become my dog walking shoes when they are worn down. Nice review.
Thanks for the review, since I started using Altra I haven't looked back, for me they are the best. I don't do trails yet, but for the road I use the Torin and Escalante.
I don’t need another pair of shoes. I don’t need another pair of shoes. I don’t need another pair of shoes. I need another pair of shoes. One more won’t hurt....
I love Altra! My running shoes are a pair of Torin Plush, they're great. I never thought about hiking in a pair of Superior..I'll try them! My hiking shoes are usually a La Sportiva trail running shoes...I think you should really try that brand if you like to hike. Thank you for this review
It’s a great shoe... if you like Altra check out the Olympus- I was off for a long time thinking it was too chunky but it’s not ... ua-cam.com/video/rXG_GVulaSk/v-deo.html
I love the shoes so far. I didn't know that it was Nate's go-to shoe(?) Anyway, it was of great value and felt great on my feet. The "running in cleats" comment was right on! I was running on a paved trail to get to the dirt trails and it felt fine. Great summary Nate. I'm going forward with the Altra line.
I just bought some Superior 5.0s today. Advanced notice: I wore an 11 in the Lone Peaks. I had to size up to a 13!😮 to get the right fit. I have very low volume feet with a flat, long arch, short toes, a narrow heel, and wide-ish forefoot. The most impressive feature of the 5.0s is how securely the instep locks down. I will be starting a 500 mile section hike of the Appalachian Trail in May. I hope that these hold up. For some reason, when l went to try on the Lone Peak 5.0, the insole had been stitched into the toebox, but only in the 11D width. I wasn't going to tear them out in the store, so, for me, using an orthotic insert, it was a non-starter.
Would be cool to see reviews on all these low drop mid weight trail shoes: Sense 4 Pro, Innov8 G270, Torrent 2, Kiger 6, Scott Supertrac RC2, Brooks Catamount, etc.
Love this shoe but it needs a more durable outsole. I’m missing several lugs off my 4.0s after only a couple runs on rocky terrain. That weak-ass outsole bums me out big time.
Hi! Thanks for the opinon! 2 quick ones: I know it's not gore-tex but how does theupper do in rainy conditions? And, did you have a chance to test the grip on snowy/icy conditions? If so, how is it?
I need help I can’t jog longer than 1 mile and I’m trying to run 2 miles. My quads and hamstrings are in pain I stretch before jogs and I bought a roller and it still isn’t helping idk what to do but I need to figure it out because I need to be able to jog without my legs absolutely killing me
Look up compartment syndrome..I have it its terrible..I recently found running correctly helps and zero drop shoes. But running is dangerous for me cause of it.
Can anyone tell me, does the Superior 4.5 fit a bit smaller than the Superior 3.5? I keep hearing if I wear a size 11 in the 3.5, I should order a 10.5 in the version 4.5???
Great review, I am really enjoying my Superior 4.5's on our local trails!

That face you make when you hit the “Purchase” button for new trail shoes 😵😎
Love Superiors too. Not thought to try hiking in them, must give it a go...

The Lone Peaks are my go to trail shoe. Just recently found a road shoe from Altra that I like in the Torin Plush. Total convert now. 😉
Me too ! I use my Lone Peaks for my medium length trail runs and my Torin Plush on the over 10ks

I love altra's . Ever since I watched your videos on how to transition to zero drop! Thanks Coach Nate!
Sammy Chon so glad to hear that!
I love those and the lone peaks

Excellent review, nice personal touch 💜 Thank you for sharing Nate

Just ordered Superior 5's. 😎
I run lone peak 4.0's and love them, took a couple of months for achilles to adapt from 'std' big drop shoes. I run in nothing other than Altra now.
Richard Harrison right on. Check out our series on transitioning to zero drop shoes!
@@TheRunExperience Don't these shoes wear out quick if you walk on pavement since the tread is for trail?
Thanks for the review! I definitely want to try Altra's because they are zero drop. I've heard it beneficial over the long term
you can find some nice barely used 2nd hand ones on poshmark (because some people try them and give up on them)
@@SammyChon Wow, never thought of that, thanks for the heads up!

Purple Helmeted Yogurt Slinger great ideas!
The trails in my area are very rocky. I prefer the Lone Peak series.

Just bought these shoes! Right on :)
Have the same sneaker. Is good.
What do yall think of the Under Armour Toccoa trail runner shoes?

i like the salomon speedcross 5
I tried the superior and the Lone Peak, decided to order the Loan Peak 4.5! any thoughts on that shoe?
Greg the lone peak is a great option if you’re looking for more cushioning and support.
@@TheRunExperience Good deal! I was looking for a trail runner, hiker, all around shoe. So hope it fits the bill
is it slippery on wet grass?
Does anyone know how do they fit compared to the Superior 4.0, especially in lenght? Should I get the same size in 4.5 as in 4.0?

It’s almost like a tightness or something idk if it’s my form or just my legs being annoying
Thaaaaaaaaanx
low drop range? i thought you said 0 drop
😊❤👍
