Yayyyy!! 🙏🏻😁 This is the video that so many of us were waiting for, to find out what had happened to you both, and how you were doing after your Denge fever episode and deciding to sell your beloved Skua.
I am so glad to see that you are both doing well and that you transitioned in a planned manner (more or less 😆) into the next chapter of your adventure through life together.
I have followed you from the first video I found of you on little kittywake when you first entered the Med, after which I backtracked and watched from video number one. What a journey it has been! The way that you two have managed to continue with your travels on a very limited budget, keeping it real but also maintaining a good quality of life despite so many very challenging times, has been incredibly inspiring.
You showed many of us, even older dudes like myself who sat at home alone on the couch in the evening watching you on another adventure, what is truly possible if one simply is determined to make it happen. I have loved being a part of your journey, and I want you to know that you have brought so much joy to so many of us. And you did it all in a modest, pure, and very truthful manner. In many ways you allowed us to live a life of adventure at sea that we have so often dreamed of doing, if only vicariously through your lens and for just half an hour a week. It’s been a beautiful experience.
Here’s wishing you both much happiness going forward, I’ll follow along on your website, and I will keep referring my friends to your Kittiwake channel, telling them to go and watch the story about the coolest young couple I know who threw a boring life of mediocrity to the wind and instead followed their dreams of a sailing adventure on the open seas. As others have said, your lives - and the quality of your lives - are yours to plan. None of us has had linear careers that just go on and on. We’ve all reached forks in the road and taken turnings.
I have followed you from the very start ... loved the Kittiwake phase ... and was proud to be a Patron too for some time. Your awesome achievements in safely delivering Skua to her new surroundings and finding her fortunate new owners made a really great story.
I had sensed for a while that you’d make some fresh choices - didn’t know at first that Covid and Dengue would be the catalysts - but I could feel a restlessness in your narrative.
Now it’s heartening to see you both at ease after the trauma of transition. Whatever it is you do next, I am certain it’ll have the qualities that have been so attractive to your many followers thus far.
Your new website looks lovely. Good luck with the plans - enjoy the sabbatical - thank you for sharing the past four years so beautifully.

My comment comes after 404 comments. Now, I was subbed when y’all sold Kittiwake. I was sad when she sold but exited when I seen you purchased a Tiana 37 with a bow thruster. Now bummed Skua is gone but happy she is with good hands. Now even more excited to see you both on your new adventure has begun. Get a full recovery Elena. I just miss your adventures. We loved seeing you progress and hope that we will see more from you.
So sorry to hear about this, knew you were ill and I'm so glad to hear you're starting to get back to your former self. As someone who came down with Covid in February last year and then spent ten weeks in bed (discovering sailing on youtube to keep me sane) and then a further eight months before I started to feel normal again, I totally understand how that would make you just want to be somewhere secure to continue recovering and getting back to normal. I wish you both all the best and hopefully see you on the water again soon! On the plus side, at least you can go skiing (lockdown allowing) and speak some Italian and Sud-Tyroler again too! PS@10:00 WOW! What a view!

Getting ready to make dinner and thought I'd watch this, always a good feeling while cooped up from Covid.
... I'm stunned that you have had to go through this and make so many changes in such a short time. I had Dengue while I lived in Dominica and had an Iroquois catamaran. It sucks! I too sold the boat, but it was time for me to make some changes then. I'm happy for you that you are recovering so well and your place in Italy is beautiful. As always, your videography is wonderful! I wish you all the best as you, and we all, figure out how to continue the adventure as Covid passes. Thank you for making so many evenings fill with your adventure and keep my eyes open for the future!

wow dengue is also known as "break bone fever" and is extremely painful, and with Covid around I'm sure you must have freaked out. So sorry to hear that you were sick. Wow northern Italy looks great. It must be hard to turn the key on your boat and know that will be the last time
Actually, break bone fever is a term which originated during the seige of Vicksburg during the American Civil War. We "think" that it was carried by mosquitos and might have been or been related to dengue fever, but we do not know for sure. We do know for sure that during the seige of Vicksburg, more people died from starvation and illness than from sabers, bullets, and cannon fire. Nasty stuff, for sure.
AND,also was known as Boohoo Fever. A lighter version of Panama -or- Yellow Jack Fever AKA: DENGUE FEVER. On some sailing ships (1850's) the captain acting as the doctor, gave a tonic derived from cinchona bark e.g. containing quinine... as a precaution.
@@stevenr8606 my step daughter got dengue in Colombia a few years ago and for 2 weeks she, a healthy 25 year old, was in tears and agony from the bone pain

I imagine it was and it is very hard to sail with all the restrictions and makes perfectly sense to settle on land for a bit till the world start spinning as usual and we are all free again!

Very touching video - thanks for sharing your update. Whatever happens nobody can take away the wonderful experiences you enjoyed...or the wonderful experiences to come. I gotta say it has been a pleasure tagging along with this gentle, thoughtful young couple exploring the world together. I suspect you underestimated how difficult it would be to live aboard a 26’ cat while hobby-horsing through the Med. Then your experience led you to a very stout and stable world cruiser for crossing oceans. Your energy and determination to overcome challenges and make this happen is quite rare. Bravo!
Seasons change and goals shift. Time to redirect your energy and seek new challenges and adventures. I too am on a bit of an adventure after selling my business, my home, and taking a 5 month Grand Tour of the US in a 24’ RV. Let’s see what the next sunrise brings. Wishing you the very best.
