and they did their own choreography and arrangements! They declined the shows offer for assistance with both to all groups in the competition! Only a few groups did every performance totally on their own! I love Sup3rfruit's reaction to their Sing-Off performances! "We are NOT dancers!" "Who dressed us?!" and from the "Adorable things Scott Hoying has said" library (when referring to a Reggae section they put in a number with a look of absolute horror on his face) "Was that racist?!"... oh my goodness. That's a funny episode! Pentatonix now has a choreographer.... 😁 😂 💕
PTX will be the first ones to tell you that they’re not dancers. And believe it or not, this was not the low point of their dance moves, things do get even more cringeworthy. 😂 At least this way we know they’re human and aren’t perfect at everything. Nowadays they work with top grade professional choreographers, so they have coordinated movements but very little of it approaches something that could be called ‘dance.’ Also, I don’t know if you’ve noticed this yet, but season 3 and season 4 are not at all the same length. During Season 3 PTX performed 12 judged songs and 2 un-judged. During season 4 Home Free performed 6 or 7 judged songs, and 1? un-judged. VoicePlay has fewer than that, so you can do both groups from season 4 in the same time frame as PTX.

Whether you people liked their little robic moves or not They didn't just stand still. 👉At the end they made them selves "skip" (like and old record) Shaun will mention this in a later performance that they even thought of such details like this, considering that this is an early 80s classic it most likely would have been heard on a record.
Tbh, I kinda like the cringy dancing :D. It makes them more human :D. They're definitely aware that they're not dancers though. This performance is pretty much universally accepted as the one where PTX really became PTX. Though they grow through the whole show, this was when they really found themselves.
With your comment about song choices, from what I understand they were given a selection to choose from (usually around the theme of the episode) so didn't have complete freedom. This is a bit clearer in the series when they mention "I'm so glad we go this song this week".
I always chuckle at Ben's critique. I have seen a live performance of this, and Scott made the artistic choice to be off beat in that one part. Enjoying your reactions.😊
I always like how Ben will always try and find at least one thing to tell them about to try and work on with every performance even when they are totally killing it at the end. He's completely enjoying them, but also being an actual mentor as well instead of just saying how awesome they are.
The dance moves were exactly what they were supposed to be ... a take on an 80's robot. Were they expert level? Definitely not, but I knew what they were going for when they designed it. The song was about technology so ... robot.

How many dances did you go to in the 80's? .......i went to rather a lot as I was in high school and those dance moves were pretty spot on actually. Hell we used to "pogo" .....and DEVO was a THING. And the B52's ( rock lobster anyone?)
Gee, now I feel ancient. I was already in my second enlistment in the navy when you were born. At least I was still in middle school when the original came out. This song is famous as the first video played on MTV.
Them doing the "robot" choreography instead of trying to make their voices sound mechanical was funny but I guess easy since they aren't natural dancers. 😂😂😂
Put on your list- Superfruit reacts to Pentatonix on the Sing Off. They totally admit all the time that choreography isn't there thing, but I think the show pushed it. When Mitch isn't going "gawd girl" about clothing, its something about the lame choreography.
Dance moves were part of the requirement of the performances. Lol PTX will be the first to admit dancing wasn’t their forte! It’s so amazing to see how good they were then and how even greater they’ve become now! Enjoy!
Aw, c'mon! True, they're not dancers, but the point of this one was to be robotic! It was based on the Buggles' original video. The whole idea is that radio singers didn't have to dance, or look good; all they had to do was make good music. If there ever was a video concept that was tailor-made for a PTX cover, this was it!

Agree with the dance moves...however I think it still suited the song as the moves were very retro......May I just say that your 'sound' is great....not many 'reactors' have good sound....but yours is one of the best. Thanks for that Shawn.

This was a big improvement on the previous week! When I heard them in the beginning mention the Cher song, I thought there was an error, but then realized they changed the song. I think it was a smart choice! Oh, side note, Shawn: I noticed the top half of your shirt. I like it! We like Mustangs, too! My husband has a classic Mustang. Nothing fancy, but still a classic. One of my favorite Avi songs! His bass rhythm is so slick. I recommend Daft Punk medley and Gold for some more sick bass lines!
