Nobody and i mean nobody riffs like my boy Scott. Soulful from the tips of his fingers to the tips of his toes. Hang on to your hat for #12 though where Mitch gets to shine too.
Scott SLAYED! His soulfulness is insane! 🌟 Scott is debuting his solo single and video tomorrow (his Birthday is on Sat) a song he write called MARS. Avi and Kevin were AMAZING! Kirstie and Mitch harmonies were incredible!
Watching this in real time, every week was an experience like nothing we’d never seen. PTX was clearly the best and by the time we got to the 12th performance, it was a given they were winning. I love everything they do even after all these years. I grew up in the 60s and we had lots of music but nothing like PTX. I loved this show so much. It wasn’t as popular as the other big shows but it produced at least two successful groups with PTX and Home Free.
When watching the series at air time, my reaction was similar to yours. THIS at that point absolutely was their best performance to date, but little did I know what was to come. YOU my friend are in for a treat. So buckle up buttercup here comes PTX. Can't wait for your reactions. Been waiting a long time for you to get to #10. Great reaction Thx 😎
I really liked Born To Be Wild when watching the series at the time, but then…..this!! And, Susan is right! 11 and most definitely 12 are mind blowing !
@@judithL3100 I totally agree with you. Born to Be Wild was the one for me until I heard this one and then up until the last one. The last one they had technical difficulties Though. 😎
This is my favourite for the show. 12 is important and impressive and showed them well, but this is the one I go back and listen to. Possibly because I have a soft spot for Scott and this is just him going all the way off! Love it. They are soooo freaking smooth and professional in this one!
This one is so great. D hey the one thing you need to know is that after #12 the voting shifted from judges to audience So by 12. they were tired and Scott’s voice went out during rehearsal but they had to give it everything they had for Americas vote.
Scott's riffs in this one are just off the charts. And in case you hadn't heard, @scotthoying just dropped his very first solo single today. It's called Mars and both the song AND the video are just stunning! I'd love to see your reaction.
"we all live in different places" but they do this. They met Kevin the day before the audition. They had a month or two after that when he and Avi were staying Scott and his parents. and then they had couple of months on the show here. That's it. and they got from there to where they are. Pretty amazing.
This song was a staple in their live shows for a couple of years. It was their choice for audience participation. For fun, look up "PTX chair girl". Mitch's opening in this set the tone, and Scott's final riff was the cherry on top. I remember watching this when it aired. Jaw appropriately on the floor.😵💫
Thank D! I knew this would 🤯🤯🤯! I’m with you, my fav performance so far. But just you wait. These guys set that stage on fire? Even the judges were at a loss for words. You noticed one of the competing groups reaction too 🤯🤯🤯. Ha! What a ride this Sing Off is. Thanks for taking the journey with us. 11 and 12 to go. But don’t forget I mentioned on one of your HF reactions where Adam and Kevin meet….Actually HF and PTX meet. I’ll send you a link after the 12th performance. It’s icing on the 🎂. Great reaction, thanks D!!
After you watch the finale there is a performance where they come back in the next season (as guests and previous winners) that is really good! It’s really cool to see how far they had come since they had won. I’ll try to find the link and post it in my comments below ☺️
He has to watch this one. Not only is it a live performance, but IMHO this performance of I Need Your Love, which they had just released at the time, is still one of their best performances. They absolutely killed it! Especially note Kevin and Avi's performance as you watch it. Good ole "meat and potatoes."
And this still hasn’t prepared you for how good episode 12 is. Thanks for doing this one. I hope you finish the series quickly. I love watching your reactions.
The night of 11 & 12 (the one that was judges' choice!) is the last week performances were voted on, but don't forget that there's 13 & 14 done by the top 3 groups on reveal night, so that they got a chance to do 2 more songs of their choice while the show built up the suspense. Poor Mitch & Kirstie, they both looked about to faint with nerves when it came time for that part.
You know.... I have to totally agree with all the comments below. The Sing Off was my favorite TV show, I can't believe it started in Dec. 2009... I never missed an episode, still don't know why they took it off the air? But like Mr. D said, it's a good thing because it is now ALL brand new to him- lucky for us! I get a real kick out of your reactions D, keep it up! 👍
Great reaction. Thanks. Pentatonix nailed it. There are more performances after 12. The voting was done after 12. On finale night they did 2 performances (one with Nick). They came back a few weeks later for the Sing Off Christmas special. The first two winning groups also performed.
My favorite of The Sing Off performances. I have wondered if Scott was supposed to leave his mic stand and start dancing. It was obvious that he had to or he was going to explode. Scott was really feelin' it. I think everyone was feelin' it but Scott was going to burst if he didn't start moving.
Can’t wait for 11 and 12. Next to this one, they are my favorites. Hopefully it won’t take as long to get them up loaded. Thanks for all your fun reactions! 💕💕
AHH I can't wait for you to get to the 12th performance!!! Many a reactor has claimed that this was their favorite performance... until they got to the 12th. Hold onto your hat because it'll surely be blown away when that time comes around!
Yes, we have 11 and 12, and that's it for 2011. But the following season they are invited back to the Sing-Off to perform a single number as the previous season's winners. They do a cover of "I Need Your Love," and it's fabulous. True to form, they have one of their signature surprises in the arrangement. Most reactors omit this in their review of the Sing-Off journey, but we Pentaholics love it, and I hope you include it at the conclusion of their 2011 performances. Great nostalgia!
Pentatonix also have performances 13 and 14 on finale night, the finale crowning them as winners and their brief after-winning Sing Off song. They also came back for the Christmas special with the first 2 Sing Off winners a few weeks after they won. Then on to the following seasons' guest appearances.
Hello D, You are right that is exactly what PTX has done, come up with something new every time, that is why every song sounds better than the last one, even if it is a song from ten years ago - Pentatonix twist, bag of tricks, improve, improve improve. Mitch is a superb singer and a master vocalist, with so many sounds. Scott is spot on with his raspy singing and riffing in this. Avi on that bass. Kevin with the beat boxing. Kirstie on that backing. PTX is just astounding. Loved your reaction. On to the next one. After 11 and 12 - no that's not it. Three more that you need to do related to this 1) PTX winner's performance after they won 2) PTX as guests on the next season of the Sing Off 3) Superfruit doing a critique of the PTX Sing Off journey. Hope you can fit those in to really complete the PTX Sing Off reactions.
At the end of their performance, you get to see the other teams react - and they know that PTX just raised the bar not just one, but maybe a dozen notches. They all realized that they only way they would win is if PTX somehow blew it.
One that doesn't get reacted to, like at all, is the opening songs compilation video, which is long, close to 14 minutes. It has all of the groups. PTX isn't in some of them because they started with 16 groups. PTX was in the 2nd round of groups. But as time goes on, the solos were sung by the people who kept getting through, and at the top. PTX wasn't always the first to be saved, but they were never in the bottom 2.
Whenever I see these performances, I always wonder if they would do them the same now (or if they hadn't been out in a position by the show to limit certain things and to mostly have Scott leading), basically, if they'd had totally free rein wouId they have done them all the same. I seem to recall in one of their tours (I think like in 2019, maybe) they had a mini-evolution of PTX, where they did little snippets, but I can't remember which songs they did. And I know they didn't use it for the live show, but I've seen them perform Telephone (which was their audition song); for example they did it in the same concert as the epic Aha! performance I remember reading on a reaction to this that someone did a check into the stats and they said there was actually a slight bump in the birthday, but idk if that was actually true or what they did to check into that. Lol. I do love it when Scott just goes off like that, and Mitch's wa-was were on point, possibly the beginnings of his vocal electric guitar? Have you seen that Scott has just released a solo song & vid on his channel called Mars? I hope you will consider reacting to it. Sadly, in releasing Mars, Scott also seems to have privated everything else on his channel (idk, if that's what Mitch did with his when he launched Messer or if he wiped it all), if you already have them saved in a playlist or a direct link then you can still see them, but otherwise you won't be able to find them...I hope it's temporary and that he reverses it once Mars has been out for a little while because his channel has some of PTX's beginnings (like their Trio "Telephone") as well as some awesome early solo covers both pre-PTX and during like Avicii's "Wake Me Up". I think he also had some non-PTX duets too like "Lost on You" with Mario. It'll make it hard for people to recommend his other solo stuff to reactors, which is a shame too, because there's awesome stuff that deserves to be shared. But ultimately that's his decision, I guess. I was lucky to have some of my faves in my playlist, but I know there's some I've lost access to (like I Should Tell Your Momma On Ya, and stuff from pre-PTX when he was in college). Perhaps other fans will post it elsewhere like they did with Mitch's.
How are your Pentatonix reactions getting better all the time? I think you've been infected with PTX - might want to get thar checked. 😉 I agree with you. This one floored me.
you also need to react to "una noche" which is their performance with nick lachey. its pretty good. kirstie sings in Spanish for a lil bit. ua-cam.com/video/5BvxL0cIejo/v-deo.html
And it only get better. So, I'm sure that you have had the spoiler that they won. But something you might find interesting... They did indeed win. But also screwed BIG TIME They got the 200 thousand and the SONY contract. 2 weeks after they moved to LA, they were DROPPED by that same company. So they took the money and started making UA-cam videos. Built a fan base. Made a little video called Daft Punk for $400. Recorded in a closet and filmed in Avi's kitchen. That only won a Grammy. I need to look up exactly what point, mighty Sony went crawling back and signed them. I hope they made them pay BIG TIME. As to Ben. I go back to his criticism about timing, and your displeasure. Recently, like a half hr ago, I watched Mad World. There is a point where they are all singing like, well mad. Suddenly, they stop all in unison causing silence. To be finished beautifully by Kirstie and Matt. Perhaps without those words, that seemed harsh at the time....they might not have such FLAWLESS timing now. I am really looking forward to the next 2 in this series. But more importantly, I am working on a ptx mas list for you. But I only get internet for like half a month. So I'll probably have to get it to the 1st of the month. Til then, I'm working my way down your Playlist, again. But leaving comments this time. A quick side note. I've been watching the numbers on their hallelujah video. 6 days ago, 9t broke 680 million views. Today it's over 680,770+. I figure, it shoul probably break 681 at maybe 8 days. Sorry one more thing. Ptx has an upcoming concert at the Hollywood Bowl. On September 8th from 11am to 1pm, 3 of the 5 members worked the ticket box office. That means a bunch of SUPER lucky people got to buy tickets to their concert FROM them. Sorry for the long comment. You take care and be safe. As always, hope and joy to you and your family and don't forget to pass it on. =^;^=
love it, packed with great info - now if we could only get a signed letter from Sony TODAY which reveals what morons they were for dropping them and how they feel about it - TODAY lmao
Nobody and i mean nobody riffs like my boy Scott. Soulful from the tips of his fingers to the tips of his toes. Hang on to your hat for #12 though where Mitch gets to shine too.
I just hope D is familiar with the song from #12

I wonder how many of their competitors repacked that night. This is definitely my second favorite sing off, second only to #12
Performance 12 is the pinnacle. That is when Pentatonix really gels into what they have become professionally. It’s mind blowing.
When watching the series at air time, my reaction was similar to yours. THIS at that point absolutely was their best performance to date, but little did I know what was to come. And then Avi and Kevin… Just MAGIC!

He just released a reaction to it!
♥ I knew this would take over as your fave so far. Now I'm wondering if #12 will end up being your fave. It's the first Mitch slap.
This was my favorite performance of their's on The Sing Off!!! Scott's vocals were so nasty, I almost had to look away, but I didn't LOL 😄
Love this performance but SO can't wait for you to get to #12.
"we all live in different places" but they do this. They met Kevin the day before the audition. They had a month or two after that when he and Avi were staying Scott and his parents. and then they had couple of months on the show here. That's it. and they got from there to where they are. Kevin also went on tour with a band between the Pentatonix audition and the time for them to start performing on the show.

D, just in case you thought the second 100 reactions were not going to hold as much weight/fun - there is MORE - may you always have one in cue
I have to agree with a reaction I saw on another video , "best acapella group ever?
Great reaction!!!

Recommend their cover of Rather Be.
That was just a crime...committed on the other teams, this is when you know it is DONE!!!!
Yayayay

I agree with you. This one floored me.

Please listen to ( can't sleep love...) The video
you know I will! Cant believe after 100 more and more keep popping up - easily going to hit 200 arent we? :P
you also need to react to "una noche" which is their performance with nick lachey. its pretty good. kirstie sings in Spanish for a lil bit. ua-cam.com/video/5BvxL0cIejo/v-deo.html
Please tell me you are going do the 11th and the 12th performance-
of course!
And it only get better.
So, I'm sure that you have had the spoiler that they won.
But something you might find interesting...
They did indeed win.
But also screwed BIG TIME
They got the 200 thousand and the SONY contract.
2 weeks after they moved to LA, they were DROPPED by that same company.
So they took the money and started making UA-cam videos. Built a fan base. Made a little video called Daft Punk for $400. Recorded in a closet and filmed in Avi's kitchen. That only won a Grammy.

As to Ben. I go back to his criticism about timing, and your displeasure.
Recently, like a half hr ago, I watched Mad World. There is a point where they are all singing like, well mad. Suddenly, they stop all in unison causing silence. To be finished beautifully by Kirstie and Matt.
