I think I already wrote this, but in case I didn’t, JD Sumner was the greatest low range singer ever. Elvis knew how to pick the right sounds he needed. He was happily married at time of this show. He also had his little baby, Lisa Marie. If he was singing of loss, that would be about his mama. He never got over losing her. Hope this helps.

He was so very, very sad and missed her so much that he wanted to try to write a song in her honor. Most everyone knows that he and his Mama were exceptionally close, putting it mildly, he worshiped the ground that she walked on. Anyway, he knew what he wanted to say and even had the title for the song! He went to Red West and asked him to help him write a beautiful song about her and their relationship. THEY DID! The title that ELVIS gave the song was "THAT'S SOMEONE YOU NEVER FORGET". The song is hauntingly beautiful. He recorded it and I have listened to it over and over! It is truely a sweet song! Please play it for me and all of the Mothers out here that have sons that we look at in a way, I am certain, the way she looked at him! Diane Fiske-Foy - He was wearing the karate suits, but often ripped the seat in mid performance and had to change into new pants. It was not just the jumpsuit style, but the material. He needed the flexibility of movement and remembered the costumes that the ice skaters used for “Holiday on Ice”. He saw the shows in Germany. So, they contacted them to find out what they used. It is amazing how some guitarists can use their touch to produce a slide effect sound much like a slide guitar like you said. Like Thundercat the guitarist who features on some of Kendrick Lamars work some guitarists can produce a multitude of sounds and in their own right can truly ROCK!
Elvis said, he sings songs his friends write for him to sing. This song was a hit for Eddie Arnold but Elvis got ahold of it and made it his own. He sang from his heart, always…And that paisley guitar belonged to James Burton. The lead guitarist for Elvis and one of the very best at his craft. Thanks again!

That was James Burton on his Fender Telecaster playing lead guitar. He may have been using a glass slide on the fret board, or he was just plain bending the strings.

Elvis never wore the jumpsuits more than 1 time, he had a designer that made them all for him. He is the best that ever was or is.
he did wear some of them more than once, i.e., his Kitchen Sink Suit, also called the Memphis Suit was worn in '73 & '74; the Mexican or Aztec Sundial worn in '74 & '77 before he passed; designers were Bill Belew & Gene Doucette

I’ve seen Elvis’ jumpsuits at Graceland in Memphis a few times, but I never knew who made them. If you get the chance, you should check out Graceland. Note: I looked up Elvis’ jumpsuits and found out a guy named Bill Belew designed them.

Diane Fiske-Foy - He was wearing the karate suits, but often ripped the seat in mid performance and had to change into new pants. It was not just the jumpsuit style, but the material. He needed the flexibility of movement and remembered the costumes that the ice skaters used for “Holiday on Ice”. He saw the shows in Germany. So, they contacted them to find out what they used. It worked!

@@dianefiske-foy4717 producer Steve Binder (of the '68 Comeback special) put costumer Bill Belew in touch w-Elvis & so the relationship for his jumpsuits began (w-his '68 black leather 2 piece suit) & later included costume designer Gene Doucette; the jumpsuit material used was wool gabardine, satin lined, quite warm but stretchy like the professional ice skaters for ease of movement; i don't think ripping his pants often is quite correct; thank you
