It did not vanish. Stavola Construction purchased most of the land in the area in the 1950's. They built there blacktop furnace there. In those days that area was unincorporated so squatter's built shacks and small homes there. Most of the people abandoned the area in the late 1970's when the Boro of New Shrewsbury(Tinton Falls) came in and insisted they start paying property taxes. So most left and nature overgrew the area and the houses deteriorated.
The area you were in reminds me of where I grew up, in Spotswood. We lived over the tracks off of Manalapan Rd; one way in, one way out. We had a little neighborhood of 10 houses. I moved away in '75. Before they added a trailer park in the late '70s, we would play in the woods & would find the foundations of old houses, dishes, irons, lumber, etc; I even came across a one-room house with the roof collapsed and three walls standing. It's a shame it's all gone now. Great memories. Thank you for posting!
There were 38 homes there in its peak . I did a bit of research and what I found is even more strange than the town disappearing. All those vacant lots are owned by the same company. A very prominent, old money family from Titnon Falls. Somehow they paid pennies for these properties. Some literally were only $1!!! Some were even deed transferred directly without the company paying one penny! The only thing I found in regards to prominent news from that neighborhood was the murder of a wealthy doctor committed by the stepson of a soldier stationed nearby. Most of the homes were owned by soldiers stationed locally and with the end of the Vietnam era, the homes one by one became vacant. I did find one interesting blurb but when I went to read the attached article it had been deleted along with all the references associated with it.
***** ***** If you want, I guess I can post the name if either one of you would like to dig a little further. I think I am all snooped out lol I can tell you that the date of the event was 3/12/1976 !
I grew up on Wingo Terrace. It was named after my ancestors. As kids, my cousins that lived in Nelson and I would "cut through the woods" using the path in our backyards to visit each other. Before the highway was built, we would go up on "the hills" with family that came to visit on the 4th of July and the entire sky would be lit up for miles, one town after the other left to right. Our family lived there until the early 2000s ..The entire area was known as Pine Brook which was also co-founded by my family. It didn't just one day "disappear", but sadly our family legacy and the rich history of the area is.
I was raised in Monmouth County and I miss New Jersey so very much. Sadly I moved away in 2004 to work with the poor and homeless in West Va and then from there I moved to Ohio, Sure really miss my birth place.
The land is being looked into for redevelopment. Its not uncommon for companies to buy up land for pennies and in the case with property make land trades with the town , so that the company can own enough of an area for development purposes. Ive included a link to one of the town meetings where theses propertie are mentioned by lots and block numbers. www.tintonfalls.com/filestorage/115/669/274/15993/15995/09-16-2014_AGENDA_PACKET.pdf
Google Maps show that Stavola has a quarry next door to feed it's asphalt plant. They probably bought out the neighborhood or the state bought them out by eminent domain for the Rt 18 extension. Nice tour anyway.
There are still houses there into the 2000's. That can of Marvel Mystery Oil is very old. They haven't sold it in a can for many years. That can used to be red.
@@_jonnyscustoms_995 And you don't always get that bull's-eye that the news still tells you about!! I got but and got lime disease a few years ago. I got more and more tired ever day until my wife made me go to the doctor! If you get bit, get to a doctor right away for treatment. I still love hiking though so I'm always up for an adventure!
Hi, this is a very engaging, but also disturbing video. I usually love watching old abandoned places, but this isn't pleasant. More scary. I wouldn't spend any time there without wearing a surgical mask either.
Mars attacked; leveled that whole neighborhood with a radioactive ray. Jack Nicholson was part of the raiding force, but he was actually from Neptune. Should have taken a Geiger Counter with you on this trip.
ok, they didn't just suddenly or all-of-a-sudden disappear; it took a while and there's a researchable reason; stop with the "10 mysteries of the urban world".

Oh wow thank you for the information
Thank you for explaining Joe. People are always ready to jump to silly conclusions like paranormal activity, UFO's, goverment conspiracies

@Keith Busch it's been a while since I did the research and almost forgot about this but I'll get back into it and tag you when I am done.
@Keith Busch keep me posted. I would love to see the aerial shots of the neighborhood
I just found this channel and I love it!

Most likely had ground or water contamination if there's a dump nearby.

This spot would make good metal detecting.
Where there's trash there's bound to be hidden treasures.
Thanks for sharing..

They buy them up cheap because the banks that own the deeds dont want to pay for the hazmat cleanup, and sell them cheap.
I'm in Tinton falls now where is this exactly

Uhm a surgical mask doesn’t do anything besides stop debris from getting in your mouth . It doesn’t stop viruses or infections or anything of the sort

Records in the County Clerk's office will tell the story!
Might have been some kind of poisoning in the ground or something.
Actually there’s only one person left
Oh wow. Good to know
You said there was a garbage dump near? Perhaps it was a toxic dump--that would make folks bail, pronto.
Phil Murphy discovered time travel and tested his lockdown economics in that neighborhood.
Thank you for watching stay safe
This could be the same place where that guy from tiktok is filming jeez thought it was real
Not familiar
You know where you are.Look at old maps.
Why did you Not knock on that house door and ask owners?
Could have shown us some early morning northern Jersey rage. Knock on some doors next time for more entertainment value. Cheers.
Interesting..
