In a search for new sounds, this man and his work found his way into my recommendations. This is such a great sound over a tight as F riddim section. If you like early-70s Herbie Hancock, or Weather Report, and dig modern grooves-this is gonna light your fire!
kamaal is reinventing so many subgenres of jazz. i love jazz in every fucking way. but whatever kamaal is doing has never been done in this way. kamaal knows exactly what hes doing - every second of every song. absolutely amazibg.
YESSSSSS, Kamaal and his gang are coming to #Brisbane 27 October 22, #ThePrincessTheatre. Love his vibe and mellow sound. What he does reminds me of Herbie's Headhunters.
I asked my bro to recommend some good chill jazz and he came up with this guy, so when I saw white fella and electronics on the thumbnail I was like WHAT but yea, it is exactly what I wanted actually, glad to have mind opened
Simply fantastic and touching and captivating on every level! I have been following "jazz" music for almost 50 years now... And after a long time, you have really got me going again!!! Perhaps you are open and interested in learning about your "predecessors" or collaborating? I can name a few like Erik Satie, James Blood Ulmer, Rip Rig and Panic, Meshell Ndegeocello etc. If it comes to that, I would be ready to leave this world after listening to it - I would know it was all worth it... Thank you for all your work and passion!!!
I just gotta say the US has been playing this type of jazz fusion for 30 to 40 years. This is nothing new and yet its still my favorite genre no matter where it comes from!
This sort of thing been around for a long time in the uk too - kinda a resurgence but it also definitely has it's own modern flavour that's not quite like what's been done before
@@RD-jr8nv Harsh yo lol, but yeah, I'm from NYC, the way it's being done in the UK right now is fucking great. I have a folder just for UK stuff, and it's quickly becoming my favorite folder for multiple occasions, and many others.
Listen to DJs that play modern jazz-funk and deep house, you'll get constant new discoveries. DJs like Rixon D, Last Nubian, Steven Julien/Apron Records, Spinorita, Osagie, Marco Weibel, and myself if you've exhausted all the other options haha
he's using some kind of octaver and/or harmoniser pedal, I play guitar and use the digitech whammy pedal to get that effect - awesome pedal and they do a bass version.
I wanna meet and have pint (I dont drink pints, just rum from the caribbeam) I loved seeing you at the Institute of Light off London Fields when you began... I've told everyone to watch you... Please come see me.. we're in Soho
@shan mcshaniel hes made some really good shit, but its like he hasnt made an effort to get better. he always plays the same sounding shit. u need to diversify ur bonds

True
I like to look at this like a modern Jazz revolution, similar to the one that happened at the end of the 70s with Herbie on the lead.
He’s the leader of jazz révolution
An amazing concert, wish I'd been there...but let's take a moment and wish a sad "RIP" to the pre-August 2020 vibrant city of Beirut. What a tragedy.

Just a bit better over in the UK, less chance of being mown down by a gunman at one of the gigs you know?

Can anyone recommend more of this type of jazz? Groovy, but still smooth. Experimental, but still familiar.
