I was skeptical of the turbo hybrid, four-cylinder too. Then I test drove one and decided to buy it. I have come to absolutely love that iForceMax. Now that I own one, I would take the turbo hybrid over the naturally aspirated eight cylinder every day of the week and twice on Sundays. Will the reliability be the same? Time will tell. I’m confident because of Toyota’s history with hybrids.

Just a pov.. since 1987 I have owned 2 supras, 7 4 runners including 4 Trd pro versions, one 200 series Land Cruiser (was the Lexus version), 2 sequoia and now the new first edition. I was one of the skeptical buyers to even get the new one and fearing the 4 cylinder version would not be as good as the others Toyotas😂 I have owned . I can now attest to the fact the new one is the best version of any of the prior I have owned. I know those with little kids wanted more seating or more storage area for strollers etc like mentioned in the new sequoias. My kids are all grown now so I wasn’t worried about that. I wanted a dependable car that was great in the snow where I lived yet had the comfort and passing abilities on highway that many of the prior Toyotas lacked. This new one has way more pep, way more comfort and way more overall comfort than the prior ones I have owned. And all the prior ones I have owned have been awesome. I honestly feel the new one is worth the cost. (Less costly than a new x5, Range Rover etc) and the long term dependability of Toyotas as well as the best resell values due to the lowest depreciation over 5 years makes it by far in my opinion the best choice out there. Not to mention the best technology, best safety mechanisms of any prior toyota I have owned. Obviously no one can predict the holding power of its value but based on 6 weeks of ownership my bet is on the new Land Cruiser hands down.

The new Land Cruiser does look good. Just can’t justify that much money.

Everything is expensive these days, Wranglers, Broncos, and Land Cruisers... Personally I think the mid trim LC is the sweet spot. These are nice vehicles and like you said "It's great that they are still made in Japan"

I was also disappointed with the loss of the original 5.7l motor. But now, I'm curious. How high can fuel economy pushed with this hybrid system? If it's high enough over 25 mpg, then this Landcruiser will be more daily driver friendly. Would still be nice to have the 5.7l as an option.

Honestly I think this one is better than the 200 series for guys that want to do little off-roading, it’s a bit cheaper and smaller, never was a fan of the fat 200 series for me, my wife yeah for family vehicle for sure and I know 200 series are built like a tank, but 20-30k more gets you a
better build, I think Toyota is going to sell a bunch of these, hopefully they are reliable, time will tell, if they are I’m sure the FE will def hold its value pretty good. I do wish the first edition had some real special stuff though like diff motor, stronger parts, can tow more just to separate it from the 58 and middle trim

TRD Jon paid full price for used Land Cruiser. It will hold value if there are many like him.

I actually think when they start to come up used I think eventually the values will drop especially on the launch editions just because the MSRPs on them are too high to justify what you are getting for that price, but once it reaches that “used price” I don’t think it will move much from there no matter the miles, at least that is what I am thinking also it may start to happen sooner then later depending upon when the new 4Runner comes out and the price of those since if it is cheaper which there is a 99% chance it will be the Land Cruiser prices may come down both in the new and used markets to still have enough people buying Land Cruisers over 4 runners, that is what I am thinking

The thing about this new LC is it IS built better than the new Tacomas and 4Runners. One obvious difference is in the suspension it has proper bump stops. The other two do not and we have already seen suspension failure on the new Tacoma - and the new 4Runner uses the same parts. So if it is new 4Runner vs LC, the LC is better built.

spoiler alert LC have always been built better than even 4runner.

No, it's not worth $77,000! However, I would consider buying it to be honest. For now, I'll stick with my 24 4Runner Pro.

I still wonder how Toyota gonna sell the new 4runner with the Land Cruiser in the lineup including the new GX550 alot of people I know and ask say they want the Land Cruiser or the GX550 alot of the one I ask will tell you is the name and luxury they going for they don’t care about engine

Beautiful vehicle, but those tires are street treads. At that price point, I'm going light off-roading.

In the Jurassic Park book the land cruisers were electrified. I think the prophecy is here. YES. im for this LC.

Some of the dealers in my area have markups on these vehicles, which is not worth it.

It’s too expensive and requires premium gas. That completely negates the gain in fuel economy you get over the 5th gen 4Runner. If you’re gonna get one though, the brown interior with that Heritage Blue looks fantastic.

How would anybody know if they didnt own one already? The leagues of folks complaining about the new LC who ARE NOT automotive engineers is staggering to me at this point. I remember when i bought my 2014 4Runner, all i heard/read was how Toyota totally destroyed the 5th Gen because they didnt do this, or that, no V8, sheet metal too thin, paint to cheap, no manual, and on and on. 10yrs later all you hear is how its such a tank and how everyone should grab one before the 6th Gen come out. Most of the numbers between the LC200 and this 250 are the same or close(LC200 ground clearance is only 8/9" stock by the way). There are bound to be a recall or three once enough of these are out there being bashed. We can come back and praise or complain about the 250 in 2025-2026-2027...at which point Toyota will issue a fix for things and once again folks will see that Toyota actually knew what they were doing....or not.

Nothing Special about the new LandCruiser. Its really an updated four door FJ Cruiser. Its a Toyota, will most likely retain value better than a ford, but this isn't the Land Cruiser from a few years ago you couldn't afford.

Love the way they look but the plastic unpainted cladding is overdone. Some of the overseas ones look better with painted bumpers. And I agree with you on the wheels. Definetly could have done better with the styling.

I’m in the same boat… would feel much more appropriate at $50-55K.

I'll take the 70 series they sell over seas with the 90s style spartan like interior. This is just an overpriced fancy mall crawler built for the US market. I do like the exterior looks of this one though.
