As someone who wasn't around in the 1980s (born in the late 90s), it's interesting to see some parts of what my hometown that is the DFW area looked like at the time, especially thanks to the fact that this film got remastered and I get to see it in glorious HD.
I love this scene so much because the view from the highways shows the background of my hometown, Mesquite, TX. You can make out Mesquite Tower and Town East mall in the distance. Nowadays it’s so different, so many more commercial strips and apartments. But it’s wonderful to see my old town in its youthfulness preserved in a David Byrne production at that!!
That interchange is US 80 @ I-635, Mesquite TX. You can see Town East Mall in the background. The image of the last scene where he passes under the interchange is reversed/flipped for some reason.
The only problem with this movie is it needs about an hour more of David Byrne driving.
he's like a character out of twin peaks
Honestly True Stories, and Twin Peaks touch upon many of the same small town Americana quirks and idiosyncrasies, albeit from very different angles.
David Byrne exited the lodge except he was the opposite of Bob and just wanted to explore the world through wholesome poignant monologues.
The marshMALLOW
I love the way his steering wheel just isn’t attached
i love how it sometimes is attached and sometimes not
We call that "fancy driving"
“Y’know what I mean..? Or DO you?”
nice pfp buddy
Yep. It's fancy drivin' alright!
how, in gods name, are you supposed to answer when David Byrne asks "do you like music?"
say yes
"I'll tell you later."
@@PeterJoll LOL good response

1:44 Last time someone was late to dinner in Texas someone stole his reserved piece of pie.
David Byrne is so great acting, he is a Talking Heads legend.
Maybe the most famous Talking Heads member to have starred in a movie.
YUP, its fancy drivin' alright.
The music makes driving on the highway seem so relaxing haha
1:46 Vsauce was born
This is not a rental car. This car is privately owned...
I love the music. So chill
Right?

Young David reminds me of Jim Parsons
I still personally use that Fort Worth line
