The making of is cool.. but this doesn't get into the song, the interpretation, or how this might be the best moment of the film. Lost nostalgia stitched into the glamor of being alone as the one behind the wheel in a spaceship. Shake it up.
I always had a certain sadness after watching this. I can't completely explain why. Has humanity risen to this... A kind of mindless selfishness where our only artistic expression is found in empty consumerism. I know it's a reflection of what is, and it's humorous to some extent.. but still.. it's just empty like a disgarded toy that has lost its appeal.
@@jessica5497 Of course all art is subjective, you can still try to analyse and come to a consensus though. Aside from the good natured tone of True Stories I think it is all satirical. What do you think Jessica?
I really wish David Byrne made more movies
A favorite of mine, so glad Criterion did this film!
This movie is so damn funny, can't wait to get the criterion in January!
Why wait? It was released late November.

Luke McGlinchey Oh, okay, thanks for the clarification.
This is one of my favorite movies, and Louis Fyne is one of my favorite characters. He's the best Everyman since "Marty."
John Goodman was awesome in this.
A celebration of special-ness.
I saw this as a child. It was so dreamy to me. I thought maybe I imagined it.
It turned out to be genius. I can't express how this imprinted on my mind in 1986.. The best comedy reveals the highest truth.
David, i love you so much for this movie
4:49 Zach Braff stole this for Garden State ;)
she looks like maya rudolph
Compared to actual fashion shows this is invisible satire in the finest way
I just came here from listening to the soundtrack. . . So, WOW
Seen the movie so many times. Wish there were more. Live in SA. Can relate.
If you’re on the fence about getting the criterion release of this movie, the included materials are just great.
................................is that the chick from Beetlejuice?
would like to watch

I NEED to get this one day. Thanks a lot, Criterion Collection!

I see it as a slight caricature of American stupidity.

No one can tell me this isn't satirical.
People doesn't say that art is what you make of it? Well...for you is satirical so it is... And that works just fine.

It’s post modern. It’s advanced camp. There is a real love for the object of the camp at the same time as a distancing.
A beautiful and deeply kind movie.
