If you took the camera out and replaced with an ammo counter, gave it a nice paintjob and a flywheel replacement, I don't think it would be that bad of a blaster.
I think that putting that kind of effort into any blaster can make it special. This review is simply meant to showcase the stock effectiveness of the blaster.
it helps that I actually had the blaster so I could say the nice things as well as the bad, and provide evidence for all my claims. Your video was designed specifically to speak reason into the other video. Mine is trying really hard to be that straight shot down the middle.
I'd rather get the goggles you are wearing and just use any blaster I want. For me your goggles are beyond adequate video/quality and provide eye protection. Best bang for your buck.
Drac, you're always talking about and/or showing off your Nightfury Longshot mod. Would you do it again as a commission? Do you still have it or did you sell it? I'd really love something like that, but I imagine it'd cost a ton.
The camera quality wasn't quite as bad as I had expected. Maybe in brighter light, it could be halfway decent. The mic, though, that is horrendous. Why would anyone in their right mind want a mic on a flywheel blaster? I can only assume they decided on that for more 'stable' footage or something. For the price, I would have expected a far better camera (although the way it's set up isn't too bad), and for the revving to be, I dunno, muffled, perhaps? So it isn't as audible on the gun footage. It's definitely a great idea, to have a camera on the blaster to record stuff (and I'm surprised they didn't try it on one of the zombie strike blasters first), but the implementation...leaves something to be desired.
Take into consideration that nerf prices are not the same everywhere. Where I live nerf is not popular, bringing prices down a fair bit (I got a vulcan from Big W for $27). Also, would you use this in HvZ, not as a main camera, but as a back up for when you don't have enough time to put on glasses and start recording?
Drac I notice that you have been using the zombie strike darts and elite darts as a comparison so you can point out shots from different guns easier then with one type of ammo, the zombie strike darts have a bigger diameter (slightly more than the elite darts) so in fly wheel blasters it makes a difference. I'm sure you all ready knew but just in case I thought I would let you know
As soon as you revved up the CamStrike while the camera was on, it occurred to me the issue of the sound from the motors affecting recordings and overpowering everything else, but to peak its own microphone while revving and shooting is a very unpleasant surprise. Also the camera makes everything look dark, which would really restrict the times in which it would be reasonable to record to a medium-small range around high noon. I feel if the CamStrike had slightly better performance as a blaster AND a better microphone (or at least a better microphone position, with some sound insulation between it and the motors) AND if the camera had a reasonably watered-down night-vision mode, then that would make it worth the $80 it is priced at, or maybe even slightly more. It would be an interesting modding job to implement these features on one's own, and would probably provide an interesting challenge. (If one was to mod it themselves, then I would say replace the normal camera with IR entirely)
Drac, I challenge you to nod the Nerf Cam ESC-12 to look like the MA5B assault rifle from Halo. You already have the SMG and the Battle Rifle, so why not?
good god, i can see it now, this gun will be on the clearance shelf at every store known to man. Just buy the phone mount its 15$ and serves the exact same function with MUCH higher quality as most smartphones have a pretty decent camera nowadays AND you can put it on ANY gun with a tac rail. This is by far my LEAST favorite gun nerf has ever created, even more than the centurion, and a lot of that is based on price. 90$ R U SERIOUS HASBRO?
really i think you could build your own integraded camera on a styfe cheaper... just us a arduino board and a camera sensor and some other components and mount them.....
And heck, Target's having a clearance of the version 2 Rebelle Rail Mount for the phone. Version 2 as in the one that's mostly white with a purple base, dark gray viewing hinge, no light shield on top, and the only pink being the Rebelle full logo on the front, the locking slider, and the supports on the inside of the mount. Depending on your target, it could either be 7.50 or 5 bucks. But yeah, I think the Elite V2 is a bit more pricier on Amazon, though they should be retailing for 15 bucks if you can find one in store (There's a dearth of Elite V2 rail mounts in CO, the TRU near me has the V1 that is only for iPhones and iTouches). The only real pro that the Cam ECS-12 has is that it is a bit more accurate than rail mounted scopes and phones as the camera hole is mounted closer to the top of the barrel. But...it's not a 80 bucks pro. On that topic, I find the Thunderbow, Rapid Red, Demolisher, and Double Strike to be a bit too pricey. I would have considered the Thunderbow and the Demolisher at RR's price, RR at 25 bucks (since you can get a Stryfe with a 18 round clip at the same pricepoint as the RR), and the DS at the Triad's price point. But, that's just me, and I am rambling a bit
Nice review, I honestly though was starting to get sick when you were showing off the last running segment with the camera, it's so choppy that I was getting motion sickness lol.
This may not be everyone's view on the blaster, but I like the fact it has a camera built-in. I especially like the fact it has a targeting reticule. You could set up some awesome story based Nerf wars with it. You could have some people record with it and fake an Alien vs Predetor story.
He got the blaster for free also that kid sent this blaster to him. If you got a nerf gun 6 months earlier than anyone and got payed you would sugar it up wouldn't you.
Another pro you missed... the camera gives you that old school wolfenstein/doom veiw. It would be good to keep as a camera if you do that sort of barrel veiw sequence in a cheesy/comedy film.
I totally agree with you. You can actually get a mount for a Camera be it your iPhone or iPod. It was made by Nerf. Stick them on a rapid strike, and you're in business. I actually was in a NERF game not too long ago, and I took my Roto fury to the Nerf game. I mounted my iPod touch to it, and took quite a bit of footage.
The stryfe only got better ranges because you didn t have a barrel on it the cam ecs had its barrel slowing the darts. Also, the camera has appropiate footage it may not be like smart phone cams but this is not meant for high starred movies it was made for I guess you could say casual nerf wars in a neighborhood
Your forgetting to factor in the camera and how much it could cost for them to integrate the camera parts in the blaster so that could be the reason the price is so high
TheTrueNinja I thought it was the first comment...A few days ago he (NerfBoy) uploaded a video and within that video he stated that they (Drac and NerfBoy) were doing a sort of collaboration. If I'm wrong say so but otherwise hold your peace.
Scout Scamp Nah, NB just said that to sound cool, trying to (falsely) imply he was actually working WITH Drac on the blaster. But all he did was get sent the blaster for free and then pay Drac to work on it. That does not qualify as a collaboration.
Brian Chen Nope. I sent him my blaster for free and did not pay him anything. Likewise, he did not pay me for the blaster. The only problem here, is that no where does he mention it came from me
I've seen a couple Fireflies in the Walmart by my college campus (last semester, at least), and the new Zombie Strike Longshot should run you about $35 now.
It might be crap, but I really don't know if the camera is crap, I'm still not convinced. I think the problem is 80 bucks for a nerf gun. What will you say to the Rhino? at 100 bucks
It is a shame that the newer nerf guns have been choosing gimmick over quality. I had my concerns when I first saw this thing, and it's upsetting that everything I guessed was accurate. I figured the thing was going to just be a rapidstrike with a cam on top. I suppose it's at least better in the sense that it looked accurate, whereas my rapidstrike can barely hit anything, but even so.. Shame I have to give that one a miss.
So its basicly a rapid strike case stryf inerds and that phone holder attachment they have... You can easily recreate this with the stryf and that phone holder thing AND it would probably be a better camera lol
Buy a Rapid Strike cs-18, and an iPhone tactical rail mount from hasbro. This would be a better investment in my solemn opinion compared to this blaster featured in the video.
jack sciortino theres multiple factors. The first that comes to mind is that he just put in brand new batteries. Another is because the original stryfe, like the first month's shipment, had better flywheels. He could be using those.
Let's see... Would you rather spend a bit less money on a blaster which will more than likely perform better, along with the various tacticool accessories (With optional purchase for more parts), or this. Watching this review really solidifies anything as a better purchase...
The price on this is ludicrous, you could buy an alpha trooper as a primary then buy a fire-strike AND THEN get darts and all that would still be cheaper then this
Thank you drac for making a nice video and not just call it a piece of shit 10 time like bobo did I know you only said the same thing only nice but it was nice to have a least one you tuber who isn't always bias. : )
LordDraconical That's true, but I'm looking at the blaster's modding potential. You could do some cool integrations with that shell.
I was thinking the same thing looking at this. Make it look like something out of "Aliens" or "Halo".
CyanMadness You could make a good Pulse Rifle out of this.
Yeah, but that's because the Stryfe is a pretty decent blaster. The problem is that you're paying a ridiculous sum for a crappy camera.
Now this is a review! And a good one at that, good job Drac!
Thanks for taking the $80 plunge to be able to tell us the truth about this blaster!
this was from Nerfboyproductions, he sent it as a sorry for spamming his lilith video with spam,
Snoop Doggy Doge I assume that you''re joking
no, I'm serious, on nerf modded welcome we went to his page and saw, he worked out an agreement then it went to PM
He didn't pay for it. NerfBoyProductions gave it to him.
i just said that
Good review. Basically what I said, but with kinder words haha.
I hope to find this blaster on clearance soon after release.
it helps that I actually had the blaster so I could say the nice things as well as the bad, and provide evidence for all my claims. Your video was designed specifically to speak reason into the other video. Mine is trying really hard to be that straight shot down the middle.
LordDraconical wow you are really arigant
gavinmd24 so are you to say that
gavinmd24 Arrogant*
gavinmd24 Pride is often mistaken as arrogance to the ignorant.
I'd rather get the goggles you are wearing and just use any blaster I want. For me your goggles are beyond adequate video/quality and provide eye protection. Best bang for your buck.
i enjoy them a great deal
Drac, you're always talking about and/or showing off your Nightfury Longshot mod. Would you do it again as a commission? Do you still have it or did you sell it? I'd really love something like that, but I imagine it'd cost a ton.
All hope, I mean the little hope that existed, is now gone for a good reason. Nice vid!
The camera looks like it would be better for iron sights more than a camera
The camera quality wasn't quite as bad as I had expected. Maybe in brighter light, it could be halfway decent.
The mic, though, that is horrendous. Why would anyone in their right mind want a mic on a flywheel blaster? I can only assume they decided on that for more 'stable' footage or something.

It's definitely a great idea, to have a camera on the blaster to record stuff (and I'm surprised they didn't try it on one of the zombie strike blasters first), but the implementation...leaves something to be desired.
You really don't have to record with the camera. You could just use it as an optic.
The Cam did have a little bit tighter grouping than the stryfe I think, and you could use the cam system as optics which would be cool.
Drac I notice that you have been using the zombie strike darts and elite darts as a comparison so you can point out shots from different guns easier then with one type of ammo, the zombie strike darts have a bigger diameter (slightly more than the elite darts) so in fly wheel blasters it makes a difference.

***Warning***
Headphone users turn your volume down before 12:57. It will hurt a lot if you don't.
Great review drac thanks for being honest
didnt you get the blaster from nfb ?
During your unboxing and review for the nerf sidestrike, you said you would make a mod video for it... can you?
6:42 it's not the clip it's the dart tip against the plastic of the clip
The blaster's camera would make a good late 70's-early 80's commercial/tv show
It seems like the cam is less of a blaster with a camera and more of a blaster which has a fancy sight with the ability to record footage
Just a question, how much would it cost for you to make a nightfury if the customer provided the parts?
I honestly at first thought it was the rapidstrike shell with a camera but it's a little different but probably the same internally
13:00 JEEZ I Need to Rip out my earphones the audio is terrible
Drac, I challenge you to nod the Nerf Cam ESC-12 to look like the MA5B assault rifle from Halo. You already have the SMG and the Battle Rifle, so why not?
have u ever tried to put a rapid strike and a Retaliator as the secondary shot attachment
hey drac. how much to get a night fury made and shipped to New Zealand?
good god, i can see it now, this gun will be on the clearance shelf at every store known to man. Just buy the phone mount its 15$ and serves the exact same function with MUCH higher quality as most smartphones have a pretty decent camera nowadays AND you can put it on ANY gun with a tac rail. What about the people that can't afford a phone
Theyolobros
if you dont have a phone i dont know why youll pay 80 dollars for a nerf gun then saving up for a phone
then buy a go pro! even though its $200+ its way better quality than this shitty thing
really i think you could build your own integraded camera on a styfe cheaper... just us a arduino board and a camera sensor and some other components and mount them.....

Where are you getting Longshots fro 35$, least i've found them for is closer to 50.
Dear Drac, Do you know/are friends with coop?
What is your recording goggles things called and where did u get them
Nice review, I honestly though was starting to get sick when you were showing off the last running segment with the camera, it's so choppy that I was getting motion sickness lol.

hey drac did you see that one kids video on it? The kid that said awesome like 30,000 times and seemed to be payed to review it?
He got the blaster for free also that kid sent this blaster to him. If you got a nerf gun 6 months earlier than anyone and got payed you would sugar it up wouldn't you.
Ya he's stupid.
it was truly awful
Ian how is he stupid, tell me that + who has more subscribers...
he is stupid cuz he acted like it was a legit review but it was soooooo bias
Why Hasbro put a camera on a flywheel blaster is beyond me.
Yeah, you could just mount an iPhone on it.
+Jay the Ninja but in a flywheel blaster the reving is crap on the camera you can't hear almost anything
all you'd hear is the rev
have u ever tried putting a rapid strike and Retaliator
Another pro you missed... the camera gives you that old school wolfenstein/doom veiw. It would be good to keep as a camera if you do that sort of barrel veiw sequence in a cheesy/comedy film.

Can the camera double as an accurate sight?
Your forgetting to factor in the camera and how much it could cost for them to integrate the camera parts in the blaster so that could be the reason the price is so high
Mod this gun because the shell looks really cool. Maybe turn the camera slot into a scope for the looks.
what is the gun at begin, it looks like a legit snper (the on on top)
Could you try to enhance Maverick Power and make a nerf super rifle? With tutorial?
hey I wanted to know how much would it be for a modded and painted nerf gun LordDraconical
Hey drac make pistols with the zombie handgaurd (probably out of nerf reflex, magnus etc
If you think this is expensive wait till you see the rhino fire
First Comment!!! and you got the Nerfcam from NerfBoyProductions, right?
I don't think he likes nerfboy
TheTrueNinja I thought it was the first comment...A few days ago he (NerfBoy) uploaded a video and within that video he stated that they (Drac and NerfBoy) were doing a sort of collaboration. If I'm wrong say so but otherwise hold your peace.

Scout Scamp yep.
Ugh I hate electronic blisters that don't have manual firing.
What if the batteries die while your in a battle?
Sunny Liu I feel like the only one that ever did that was the vulcan.
you should probably notice it when the flyweels are getting slower
I hate electronic blisters too. The have a lot more buzz to them eh?
Tbh, I was expecting better audio, but worse video quality for the camera. Actually a slight bit surprised about how notable the motors revving was.
Wait, you have Kirkland Batteries... Do you live in Washington? O.O
Costco bro
Yeah I just remembered.
Costco master race m8
We're would you find a Firefly or a Longshot for about ten dollars each. Cause I've been looking for them for cheap.
Ebay.(the firefly doesn't have to work and he said $35 for the longshot[+plus internal mods, maybe])
Australia.
I've seen a couple Fireflies in the Walmart by my college campus (last semester, at least), and the new Zombie Strike Longshot should run you about $35 now.
I like how they sorta brought back the super soaker color scheme
I need a nerf gun customized how do I get one made
The audio with it revved up, you could barely hear you speak
Can you mod and paint my Rapidstrike cs-18
It might be crap, but I really don't know if the camera is crap, I'm still not convinced.
I think the problem is 80 bucks for a nerf gun.
What will you say to the Rhino? at 100 bucks
This is just a stryfe with a bad camera. The Rhino fire is actually something different.
Wait for a sale and hope it unlike this blaster preforms well
Rapidstrike or cam?
Rapidstrike duh
Thanks I seen one at target in Canada so I thought it was worth buying thanks drac
Hail fire or rapidstrike?
I think this would be better (with a lower price tag obviously) and I like how it works kind of like a sight..
Where does he even gt the longshots they r rare I've been trying to get one for 5 years but they r to expensive
I'm never think abaut this
i want to get a good secondary nerf weapon
is the nerf n strike elite rayven ok?
or the demolisher
primary - cs 18
secondary - n strike elite rayven
n strike elite retaliator
n strike elite demolisher 2 in 1
third - n strike elite jolt
- n stike elite strongarm
- zombie strike hammershot
i want to see a tech guru put the guts of an hd gopro into the nerf cam
it,s the only gun fit for the stamped sheld
maby the recording quality goes up to 4k if you put a 2s lipo in there :)
That longshot looks cool
It is a shame that the newer nerf guns have been choosing gimmick over quality. I had my concerns when I first saw this thing, and it's upsetting that everything I guessed was accurate. Buy a Rapid Strike cs-18, and an iPhone tactical rail mount from hasbro. This would be a better investment in my solemn opinion compared to this blaster featured in the video.
it's not even fully automatic like the rapid strike!
That is why he compared the internals to the Stryfe instead of the Rapid-Strike.
Chaoswolf013 i've had a string of bad luck with stryfes
were those tripp pants i see at 5:50 drac? x3
Drac I thought you said that you were color-blind but yet you can see blue and green but other than this great review.
you should mod it, put a scope where the camera is, and a laser pointer....its a cool looking gun, just not really useful
drac i love your videos
seriously sounds like those old 1940's radios announcing an air raid, and firing sounds like bombs dropping!!
I like all the videos you make
but with the Retaliator as bottom attachment
Do a mod where you change the camera
Why does his stryfe rev so much faster than mine? (I have the elite XD)
jack sciortino theres multiple factors. The first that comes to mind is that he just put in brand new batteries. Another is because the original stryfe, like the first month's shipment, had better flywheels. He could be using those.
+HardcoreLAMP probably batteries
ESC?
My elite cam shoots further than my stryfe. I think the darts wasn't as new than the zombie strike darts
Jesus that camera is terrible, my ass takes better pictures and has better audio
Can you mod my rapid strike
i dont think finding one of these in a neighbors garbage can will be an unlikely occurance
When youre using the camera, it kind of sounds like the voices from half-life
this or the modulus?
Let's see... Would you rather spend a bit less money on a blaster which will more than likely perform better, along with the various tacticool accessories (With optional purchase for more parts), or this. Watching this review really solidifies anything as a better purchase...
Nerf you gotta be shitin me I'm sorry but I don't shit golden bricks
nerf should put a 360 camera on another nerf blaster. it would put out great footage but would be very expensive
My god when the blaster reved up, rip headphone users...
Thanks drac u saved me from waiting $80 :)
I saw Kirkland batteries. Someone else goes to Costco.
hahah like your photo
I saw them to and thought the same
uh, you put ESC-12, not ECS-12
I would only get this if I had a lot if extra money and only for the sake of having a full collection of the blasters
Looks like the lilth might have some competition as most expensive nerf gun :P
isn't it ecs-12 not esc-12
yup
Oh man that audio..
