In this video, is the day we bought our villa. We arrived in Spain, week before Christmas. We was renting a villa for 3 months to make sure this was the place for us and to find a villa we like.
Hopefully this will give you some idea what to do when looking at property, taking photographs and video.
Always make sure you have permission with the agent.
I’ve lived in Spain for over four years, I’ve visited Spain for the past 30 years, well before Spain joined the EU. Mostly in and around Malaga but choose to live in Camposol, just outside the town of Mazarron Murcia, Costa Clida, South East of Spain.
When buying any property, always seek legal advice.

Lovely villa Shaun, that video walk around whilst viewing reminded me so much of the day we bought ours which was only last year. Similarly, that same day of viewing we put a deposite down only then to learn someone was flying in later that day to put a deposite down too - we were so lucky. For those intending to buy in the future, don't rush you may look at many properties but you will find your dream home. 👍🏻

I think what you thought was an Electric heater is actually an air condition unit? Take a closer look I think they’re not just for heat they also for cooling? Very nice property.🥰

I would’ve fell in love with that view too Shaun. This is why I love to film big moments like this to look back at it and remember. You were so excited when you looked at the camera in the mirror 😂😂 and Look at Baby Bonnie lol great memories to look back on 👍🏽

Glad you enjoy the videos - good question about the mains sewage, Camposol has it own sewage plant while most over places around the Mazarron don't. :)

How much does it cost to bring a small dog to Spain the size of bonnie.
Sorry John, I can't answer that question as we took Bonnie in the car. I know there are people who collect dogs and cats from the UK and going the other way from Spain but I don't know the costs. Many thanks for watching :)

Thank you, glad you enjoy the videos. Without seeing the property will depend on how long it's been on the market, has it central heating, air con in all rooms, next to a pig farm, swimming pool??? Also check out other property prices in the same area. Some do over price and some selling too cheap! I don't know Benitachell but if you seen the property and the area and ask the agent how much he's willing to take, if he says 300,000 - try another agent - good luck :)
@ we did have a look at the other properties in that area. It looks reasonable. We offered 290. Possibly we need to wait until tmrw to know if it is accepted or not. Sunshine and warm weather is priceless. We are in Ireland, over priced houses and miserable weather makes Spain so attractive. The only concern is Spain is over developed. Hard to change minds once the deal is done.

It's a nice house but it doesn't have much privacy though. You can't sit with your balls in the sun without your neighbors seeing you.

Hey Shaun may I ask when you and Jan were deciding on the move to Spain were one of you more enthusiastic than the other I think it can be a bit of a problem for some if one really really wants to go and the other is luke warm I have my heart set on retirement in Spain family have a small apartment which I use a few times a year I just Love Murcia ....my other half may not love it or the heat as much I do .....just wondering if you don’t mind me asking how was it for you two ....were you both equally on board?
Thank you Mary, glad you enjoyed the video. Good question - my folks moved to Spain in the 80's and when I remarried I started taking Jan to Spain the last 15 years and she also loved it. Thankfully our kids live around the world so not too much hardship and we chat on live chat. I have a friend who wants to live here but his wife missis her friends in the UK. But you do need to be both equal on living here as it is a different life style. It does get very hot here during August, now some people live here during the winter months and go back to the UK during the hot months, maybe something to consider. I worry that some areas would be mostly holiday homes and therefore might be full of partying holidaymakers in summer. Is this area mostly residents?

They have to close at midnight and that would be the same for us residents and holiday makers to stop playing music or making a noise or the police are called. Hi Shaun, I have bought a small villa over in Villamartin on the Orihueala Costa and plan to head down there in a few months when things calm down a little. In some of your videos you mention you budget UK1000 per month to live on and 200 for health care. I assume you mean it's 1000/month per person per and 100/month per person for Health Insurance? Sorry I was a little confused! I have bought my home for cash so no mortgage & figured living modestly I'll survive on 1200 euros/month. Also have a pool but it's very small and no heater (4.2m x 2.8m) and a AC system that does cold and hot air. Or is it simply less expensive in Murcia and UK 1000/month covers both you and your wife (and the dog!)??... I'm living in Dublin, Ireland and it's been raining and bloody cold all day- almost had to turn the heating on this evening! Take care and God Bless.
Hi, not been to Villa Martin yet but hope to visit this year some time. 1,000 pounds a month for the both of us and we are on the Spanish health system now. Thank you Frank, we set a budget of 150,000 (euros). The budget will depend on your cash flow and this villa cost us 155,000 but we had to have it! Many thanks for watching and stay safe :)
@ I'd say yall got a LOT OF HOUSE for the money.! Don't know what the square footage is, but judging from what I've seen, plus the convenient location to shops, etc., I'd say you got a really good deal.! If there are no structural issues, in a few years, the resale value will likely be twice what you paid.!

@ Shaun, if you want to make your lovely home that much more pleasant/ graceful, plus add value, dig a hole(s) in your yard about three meters deep and gradually fill them with kitchen waste, (with a shovelful of soil and a bucket of water each time), let it rot and then plant shade trees. You'd be surprised how fast they grow and make your yard that much cooler.!
