The actual album sleeve even reads, "Diorama was made without using pitch correction software. This technology 'corrects' notes that are sung or played out of tune and it has become increasingly popular in recent years. Silverchair choose not to use this computer software on their albums as it's their personal belief that such artificial perfection diminishes music." Dan's the man.
Diorama is unbelievable. I thought I hated Silverchair until my wife showed me this album. The entire album and the Dan and Paul's Dissociatives is PERFECT. Young Modern is great, too - but Diorama is a rare beauty. It's a shame I never heard it until long after the band split. Ben's song Darkwater is awesome as well. Wish it was waaaay longer.
If anyone ever has a question as to whether a singer can actually sing of if they are auto tuned then just listen to a live performance. Daniel Johns definitely can sing damn well and has no need to auto tune. This is amazing. There needs to be more Silverchair songs done like this.
This won't be possible I'm afraid :/ The vocal for this song was released with the other parts for a remix competition, they didn't do it with any other songs unfortunately. I would love the vocals to Across The Night or Emotion Sickness!
@mablob Of course, to make all those beautiful harmonies, Dan had to double and sometimes triple-track his vocals. But he didn't use any autotune. I think that's what makes Diorama so authentic and sound so real. I had no idea they had disbanded. That's such a bummer. Personally, Silverchair had been going downhill since after Diorama, but I still would've liked to hear studio versions of their new songs they played live a few times. Thanks for the heads up.
Daniel has been making songs after Silverchair disbanded his solo music and things like i cant believe its not rock and the dissociatives with paul mac and just recently dreams

Excellent. Daniel you were amazing, just lay off the coke mate and you could be again. I wonder if all the vocal overdubs and double tracks were done manually or with the antares plug-in that makes anyone sound like the beach boys. I don't doubt daniel has the talent to do it all himself but it would have been bloody time consuming.

Well said. In the liner notes for the Diorama album, it is explicitly stated that there is absolutely no auto-tuning effects used on the production.
