  • The Wind Caves (aka Raven Caves) - Sedona, Arizona
    I've wanted to drop by the Wind Caves in Sedona for a while, so we finally got a chance. It was actually very fun and unexpected. Especially for such a short hike in the middle of town. Anyway, if you're in the area, check them out. You won't be disappointed.
    Parking coordinates: 34.84195, -111.77645
    Restaurant: Elote Cafe

    Check them out. Incredible food and amazing drinks.

    If you're wondering why I'm posting, I'm still waiting for my surgery date to show up. So I've been able to do some mellow hikes here and there; gotta keep them basic so I don't tear the tendon completely off. But at least I'll have a few vids to post over the coming weeks while I'm down and out. Enjoy!

      For a mellow hike, this place is not too shabby. Surprised there's no native American graffiti.

    We must of been in Sedona around the same time. I always keep an eye out to see if I’ll spot you. Thank you for your content. I attempted Elote last time I was visiting Sedona/Arizona but darn if that place didn't have a line a block long out the door. But I did get to the Boyton-Subway in no small part because of your inspiring video.

      I've heard they closed it indefinitely. Do you happen to know why? I actually thought it was pretty well known and my buddy who lives there didn't yell at me when I said we hiked it, so I apologize if I let some local secret out of the bag.

    Jerry, Glad to see your out enjoying the world. That's awesome!! These "Wind Tunnels" have been a local secret for many years. I lived above them for years and would go every day almost down to the creek below these. It's unfortunate that there isn't much left for locals to enjoy without tourons. I was told to never reveal these tunnels as it was a place to relax and hidden from mostly everyone. Damn you Jerry!!!! Lol.. Cool vid tho man.... Sucks

    • @JerryArizona
      @JerryArizona  5 місяців тому +1

      I thought they were actually fairly well known. Not to the extent of Devil's Bridge or Subway cave, but every time I've driven by (which has been a lot), the parking lot was full. Didn't mean to reveal any local secrets.

    Just there Jan 11 through the 17th. Did not know about Raven Cave but another cool 10 minute hike and Holy Shiz area is Solidiers Pass. The caves are incredible and on my list for a return trip. The Dr Evil house is only accessible by a tram. He is a sculpture/artist and for anyone curious enough, there is a video of the building process of his house on UA-cam! Great vlog!

      Soldiers Pass is one of my favorites in Sedona, been hiking that area since the 70s. Just did a trip to West Fork, another favorite. We go way past where everyone normally turns around, that’s when it gets interesting! Any hike in Sedona is a good hike! Happy Hiking! Jerry, hope your surgery goes well!

    • @JerryArizona
      @JerryArizona  5 місяців тому

      There's a technical rappelling route right through that cave at Soldier Pass. Need to do that one of these days. I heard that guy was an artist. It's quite a structure. Cannot imagine what it looks like on the inside.

    • @rvtech101
      @rvtech101 5 місяців тому +1

      @@JerryArizona I’ve slowed way down on rope work, but I’m glad I got to do a buttload of it over the years. Rappelling is fine, but my pacemaker let me know that using ascenders is not a great idea nowadays. Never even heard of the Dr Evil house, gotta look that up our next time in Sedona. The boys want to backpack West Fork again, they were eyeballing the spot you guys stayed at in one of your videos. Think that’s going to happen in the spring. Happy Hiking!

    Can't find any information on why thy closed the trail? Anyone know the reason?

    • @JerryArizona
      @JerryArizona  5 місяців тому

      I didn't even know about it until someone posted it. I need to ask my friends who live there. But I know Sedona has made a lot of changes over the past few years (shuttles to trailheads, closing off dispersed parking areas, etc.) to try to deal with the large influx of people. Possibly closed this because it's close to a lot of houses and right in town with no parking? Not sure.
