    I love how you didn't even mention that SEPTA has said that they won't be able to handle the influx of people they are predicting. Not to mention the 3 hospitals that it'll be walking distance from.. so when there is stand still because of, 1 construction, 2 people going to a game, it's going to really suck for somebody who really has to get to one of those three hospitals. Not to mention the fact that this location is five blocks away from Independence Hall...

    People need to realize Philly is one of the counties oldest cities and the very narrow streets aren't made for heavy traffic. This is the main reason our downtown has never been a shopping hub. Every attempt the city has made to develop the area fails. No one is going to leave their car to take septa into town. That's also a falling dream.
    They are online pushing it because builders say it will bring jobs, but that's only for a few people for a few years and simply isn't worth it. The majority of the preprinted don't want it and have even said they would be fine with them going to Camden across the river in New Jersey but our major sold us out for the money. She will not be reelected for it.

    This project is just a current redevelopment of a poorly executed 2019 redevelopment of a 1980's redevelopment. Arenas are dead zones all day long. I worked in Manhattan and used Penn Station on a regular basis. Madison Square Garden is just a big dead zone all day long. Once its there it will be impossible to get rid of as Manhattan city council has found out the hard way. My vote would be to include it in the 30th Street Station District Plan that has been languishing over the Amtrak rail yards. Imagine Septa, Amtrak and subway lines all coming together adjacent to the arena. Fans from Boston, NYC, Baltimore and DC could hop on a train and arrive right at the arena. That IMO would be a gamechanger for the city.

      Best part about MSG is that it sits on top of Penn Station. I had head every NYE to see Phish play there. Being able to drive to Newark Penn Station from south jersey and hop on a 15-20 min train and walk right upstairs to MSG is amazing. Sixers really should consider doing the same. Putting it in center city will make it a nightmare to get too for many.

    It will have a corporate sponsor name by the time it’s built. It’s not just a stone’s throw from septa, it’s going to be built right over top of septa which will include regional rail, El train, broad street subway spur connecting to the main service, PATCO HIGH SPEED LINE to New Jersey, Septa light rail trolley service via the same underground a few blocks away and possibly Amtrak and New Jersey Transit trains as well.

    Golden 1 Center in Sacramento should be modeled. It’s the best NBA area I’ve ever been to and it’s centered in downtown Sacramento. The locals absolutely love the arena and it’s a gorgeous one at that. I can’t believe it’s always left out and never mentioned. It’s the perfect example of sports leading an urban renewal initiative in a successful way.

    If this area is going to continue with empty stores i say try it. At least it won't be a parking lot like location of old Gimbels building. And the title of Fashion District is a bad joke. Yes, The Gallery was built to try to get people back into Center City away from shopping malls. Fail. Will 76 Place help City? Not sure. We need to clean up and deal with homeless problems in city.

    Leaving the area in its present moribund state is also a bad choice. Opponents argue the project will both fail to stimulate economic growth and price locals out of the market. But if locals are priced out, that means better heeled residents and businesses are moving in, which will generate revenue for the neighborhood and the city. And if property values and rents are not increasing, Chinatown businesses and residents will not be displaced.

    Thank you for your videos. Just some feedback on my part here as a Philadelphia resident. 76 Place will be in the Market East neighborhood, not in Chinatown (which is an ADJACENT neighborhood). Chinatown is not some vibrant, culturally thriving area of the city. It is far from it. They are simply NIMBYs who are against anything near them. The argument I have about their real agenda. Where was their anger and protest when the Pennsylvania Convention Center was built? How about when the Fashion District Philadelphia mall was renovated and reopened in 2019? Did not hear anything.
    Chinatown's protest is only against a sports owner building an arena anywhere near them. That's it. Nothing else. And they evidently would only stop trying to block the arena if they extort millions out of the 76ers to clean up their neighborhood and keep the rent rates from going up more than they already have. Here is an idea for Chinatown. Clean up your own neighborhood. I'm not against sports owners contributing to community benefits deals, but the clear agenda is there from Chinatown and they do not care about anyone else. This is the same neighborhood that demanded and got their way in soon having a future cap of a few blocks over the Vine Street Expressway to have their neighborhood "reconnected" with an urban park. And by the way, there are new, more expensive apartment buildings already under construction in and around Chinatown right now, so where is all the anger over that? I rest my case.
    I have grown more angry over NBA owners than anyone else because we have seen a trend in the past decade plus for them to do exactly what Josh Harris and David Blitzer are doing. They want their own playpen instead of sharing an arena with an NHL team. It is disgusting they will go to such lengths even if it means having more than one major league arena in a single city. You brought up the Barclays Center and that is the perfect example. I know Brooklyn is big enough as a New York City borough to sustain itself and have an arena, but it was pointless and stupid. New York City may be the largest city in the country, but they did not need a second arena. Philadelphia has roughly one-sixth the population and now the 76ers are getting their own arena. Ridiculous.
    If the Flyers and 76ers had been partners at Wells Fargo Center instead of the 76ers paying rent, we would not be having this conversation.

      The 76ers are privately owned and don’t want to share a arena that they don’t own. Other teams in the NBA own their own arena’s and are making tons of money. The 76ers are limited to what they can do at Wells Fargo Arena because they don’t own it. Now they can be their own tenant without splitting the rent. Wherever they moved to the bottom line is it will be their own property. I haven’t been to Wells Fargo center since it was built, but by the time 76 place opens, it will be beyond state of the art.

    • @NHLCrazy2007
      @NHLCrazy2007 5 днів тому

      @@Mygreyhoundchannel Not totally right. This isn't about not sharing an arena, they do not want to pay rent to the Flyers' parent company to play at Wells Fargo Center and want to control the scheduling of their games and any events in their own venue. NBA owners are more so the ones setting this trend of their own separate arenas from NHL counterparts.

      The difference between the arena that I think is bullshit in 76 place & the convention center & the fashion district, is that it was using infrastructure that was already there, the Convention Center using the almost century old Reading Terminal which was replaced by Market East/Jefferson Station, & the Fashion District basically renovating the Gallery under a new name.
