  • As an instructional designer, you're always looking for ways to engage your learners and bring your content to life. That's why I'm excited to show you how to use the new custom motion paths feature in Camtasia 2023. This feature allows you to create dynamic and engaging animations that will captivate your learners' attention.
In this video, I'll walk you through the process of creating custom motion paths on any object in Camtasia. You'll learn how to use FreePik.com, a great resource for free images, to get an office scenario and how to use the PowerPoint plugin called Pixton to create an animated character. I'll then show you how to take that character into Camtasia and animate it along a custom motion path.
By the end of this video, you'll have all the knowledge you need to create stunning animations that will enhance the learning experience for your audience. So, join me as we explore the exciting new features in TechSmith Camtasia 2023!

Good demonstration, thank you. Lame feature: Not being able to zoom (automate size) with the new motion path feature is a pretty questionable decision. Especially since it looks pretty poor here in the video to use the old automations together with the new feature.

Fair point. I wish you could do both. I see that however getting changed in future updates. I am sure more people will ask for it.

So is this basically the same as the cursor path, just applied to any asset? It seemed pretty easy to combine for now. Does the Piston plug in have any restrictions on using their assets outside of PPT? I ask because Camtastia assets called out that their icon packs could not be used outside of Camtastia, such as in a PowerPoint deck. Wondering if the same applies here in reverse?

Yep, basically the cursor path but now applied to any other asset. As far as Pixton. That’s a good question. I know I could copy and paste it and even export from PPT easily but may have to dig in and see if they only want it used in PPT. If so there are characters you can get from FreePik to use anywhere.

I was finding this tutorial very interesting... This is new territory for me, so I was following along step by step... using Windows 10 desktop, everything worked, right up until I went to paste the vector into Camtasia 2023. I'm not sure if its because of my system, on Windows (not MAC)... any suggestions. Thanks.

It may be, if that be the case, in PPT right click and export out the image. Then insert the image from there. Just one extra step but should still work.

Moho makes this look easy. I choose Camtasia over Moho

I have never used Moho myself. Camtasia for sure is not as complex and cannot do as much as Moho but it does do most of the things I need so guess it just comes down to what you need done.

This is the first one of your videos that I've watched. You obviously know your stuff. I have one issue. I think you should focus more on the topic. You spent a lot of (in my opinion) unnecessary time retrieving assets. You didn't start to discuss the topic until six or more minutes had passed. Also, I had selected your video to try to learn one technique, which the video did not cover (Okay, I understand you can't cover everything), but how do you easily reverse points "A" and "B". I can't believe there is not a quick and easy way to reverse direction. Hate to be negative, but I would have much rather had a lot less fluff and more details.

Fair enough, I personally don’t like when people just jump into an example without explaining how they got there but I also see your point. I’ll take that into consideration for future videos.
