Bond, Anchorage and Development Length of Reinforcing Bar in RC Beam

This lecture demonstrates how bond between steel and concrete affects the behavior of RC beam with plain and deformed bars, bond failure of beam and type of bond failure, anchorage requirement and development length of reinforcing bars in reinforced concrete. The design equations proposed by ACI Code with illustrative example have also been discussed in this lecture. It will be followed by three more classes to have a complete understanding of this topic.
