This is a wonderful interpretation of the song Matt and Sophie - I had forgotten how long ago this song was out (1990 - why that's nearly a pound in old money), it always seems like a recent release, but then I am reaching "that awkward age." Never worry I shall grow out of it in about another thirty years I guess LOL! Is there anything a Ukulele can't do? (Probably not, unless you start expecting it to perform brain surgery, or discuss the relevance of the Male-Gaze in the history of film and theatre. Even then I bet most Ukuleles would probably make more sense than the average A-Level Student!!)

I always assumed this was a song from the late 60s or early 70s! I don't know why, it just has that simple, melodic feel to it I suppose. Of course, if I had a brain in my nut I'd have just listened to the production for ten seconds in order to debunk that belief. They reckon this was an early prototype of the britpop movement. What say you, sir? Certainly has all the hallmarks...

(The band are from Liverpool, where my wife is from, so I probably know more about them than most other one-hit bands LOL!) If you want to really twist your musical mind up with connections and influences then listen to "There She Goes" by The Velvet Underground (Lou Reed) - it is an interesting thing to hear how the LA's included some "inspirational references" to that song, which was from a much earlier era. So your first thoughts about this song were not all that far from the mark!
