The graphics have definitely been stepped up a notch but the game mechanics seemed to have stepped back. We should still have the option to battle wild Pokemon. I don't find the appeal of catching the same species over and over again just to gain experience.
Aj The Pichu Pride Probably don't want your parents to find out you're telling people to kill themselves online. Might get your Internet privileges taken away
That's fair, but keep in mind this is a spin-off game to help Pokémon GO player have an easier time to transition to the main series game coming out in 2019. :p
Paddy O'Door You're not. There are people who like it. I do not. I just want to be able to fight Pokemon before catching them. If they wanted to implement the catch system from Go, fine, but don't take away wild battles. That's like one of the main things in Pokemon (just about any RPG). I want to feel rewarded for catching a Pokemon, not just that I found a random Pokemon and threw a ball.
No, they are right. They ARE a Japanese company first not an American company and they will make their games based on how THEIR country is going to play or like. Japan is really big on hanging out with friends and playing games. Bet it going to an arcade or playing in the living room. It is why Nintendo consoles are the way they are now. America isn't the only country in the world nor does it only have the only gamers in the world.
I'm hoping for the 2019 generation they improve battle animations. I'd like to see the Pokemon move around more when they attack rather then them just slightly moving back and forth.
The worst part about this is that I really like every aspect of this game except for the lack of wild battles. I can probably overlook it since we are getting a regular game next year, but I have the suspicion they won't add all the stuff that Let's Go did right. Pokemon running around in the wild, pokemon following you, riding on the ones too big to follow you and unique animations for your starter are all amazing touches that I really hope come back.
Battle animations got upgraded in USUM? IMO pokemon don't really just move back and forth like they did in earlier gens this isn't Square Enix where we are gonna get insane graphics and visuals rofl
That's a loooooooot of animation and collision to ask for. I mean, it'd be cool, but I honestly wouldn't blame Game Freak for not creating crazy, non-idle animations for over 700 Pokemon.
slaserdude it's close though. It was always about catching the Pokemon with your Pokemon. Even in the anime you don't just throw pokeballs at the Pokemon without weakening it.
JAMES C I'm a big fan of HCBaillys lets plays. When he plays old school games lacking modern convieniences like running shoes. He reminds the audiance there was a time where you had to walk everywhere In the game and you had to a have a Theif in your party and press B just to run!
We only want the same game we already had because I hate playing games that try new things! Give us the same game with the same way to play blah blah blah!
HOW DOES YOUR POKEMON GAIN EXP WHEN NOT A SINGLE ONE EVEN BATTLED?! I hate that feature. Its fine in GO, but for an actual game? I want my team to battle.
Ever used a Quick Ball in the newer Games ever? You won't battle the Wild Pokemon either and still get EXP. The only thing really missing there is the sequence in wich you let out your own Pokemon.
I need Nintendo to stop assuming everyone just has friends, and even if you have friends that you have friends who are willing to play video games with you. I started playing video games BECAUSE i had no friends, not the other way around lol
I’m glade Nintendo actually keeps having local multiplayer besides it’s not like your forced to play with people. Playing with people is what made video games fun in the past now a lot of it is online which are not friends.
Lol. Protection from wild Pokemon is literally the reason you're given your starter in red/blue/yellow. That's obviously no longer the case. There's no reason you shouldn't be able to battle wild Pokemon, all they've done is take away an option. I can't believe people are defending it. Everything else looks great.
Solid Ocelot To be fair, this isn't red/blue/yellow. I'm not saying I'm a fan of the game, but even if it's inspired by the originals, we don't know to which caliber.
Solid Ocelot I’m not even gonna defend it,it’s flat out offensive that they did that. Am I gonna let that one flaw from letting me enjoy the rest of the game? Of course not ,that’s just moronic. And that ,you can’t deny either.
ARC1300 Yeah Im still gonna play it, and I think I'll like it. I just don't like that one decision. I'm hoping we get the Vs. Seeker again or something similar so we can at least battle trainers more than once.
you know, the thing I find myself wondering is how accurate your characters are. Did you actually get the real statement or did you just put in random ones?
Man, I really wish this was just a remake of Red and Blue with beautiful graphics. You can do the new catching mechanic, but come on, we want to battle wild Pokémon. Having every member gain experience at once..ugh ... I really want to like this game...
Kaizo Audio they could have still had the battles then in the end you can throw the pokeball but instead there trying to push for the Pokemon go cell phone game style.
+NO THAT'S WONG! "they won't be easy to catch" Remember inflicting damage and using moves like Sleep Powder or Thunderwave help raise catch rates? Are we just gonna be staring at the Pokemon mocking us as it barely shakes once constantly without the option to weaken it?
They missed out on a opportunity to give fans a console version of the handheld games that fans have been asking for, for 20 years... Instead they try to make Pokemon Go a console game...
Force Alchemist That’s exactly how I feel. It doesn’t matter that it’s a “spin-off,” but that it squanders such a wonderful opportunity to make this game truly something great. 😢
Not battling wild Pokemon is a huge turn for me. The mechanic of how you throw the ball is cool and all but honestly it’s not really that amazing given that we’ve had motion control games for a very long time now.
this game looks way to easy. why give pikachu double kick? why can't we struggle at the first gym or go out a catch a manky. when I get this that exp share is getting turned off right away!
WOODS I hate to say it but being 20 years old growing up with fire red, emerald, diamond, and such. I don’t think the new games aren’t targeted for me in general, probably for the younger audience who love it easy...
I can understand using the joycon controllers to catch pokemon. But why can't you battle the pokemon first and then if you want to capture the pokemon you can use those same mechanics?
You leave Viridian forest with like 100 useless duplicate Pokémon that you'll never use, but at least you'll be high level... Bring back wild battles, just use the tacked on motion controls as an optional more efficient catching method, don't give the finger to the core fan base
I know they're releasing a proper game next year but why'd they get rid of the fights? That's the main thing I remember from Pokemon growing up. Did PETA make this one?
You should have to knock out all the hp in wild battle and instead of them fainting you should have a chance catch em if you fail they run off just like the animation
this, this is actually the only good idea i have found in this entire comment section yet. Make it like the series. yes, it takes away some of the challange of keeping it concious, but maybe if you fail, give it some hp back so it can attack again for some other challange, before immeadiatly making it run away, because that would make some rare pokemon that are already hard to catch even more impossible (looking at you, beldum)
I was smiling as soon as I seen old school Pokémon brought to 3D life until they showed the catching mechanics and then it just kinda put me off of it. It’s a shame really it’s basically Pokémon go for the House console
I would advise not making that assumption. The catching seems to be the only major change. The rest looks like it feeds nostalgia which is the purpose anyway.
I hate that you don't fight wild pokemon before catching, that's the whole joy and fun of pokemon... The frustration of not catching a rare pokemon etc...
Daleywhu2107 Why do you have to have combat to have that? Just because you don't have to battle to catch, doesn't mean catching rare 'Mon won't still be challenging.
Susaigi The Fallen that was literally the 'fun' part. Now its just throwing endless pokeballs until the pokemon is caught? Zzz. Ya no thanks ill pass on that. Pokemon is dead but hey we still have 6 gens to enjoy.
Its just contradicting to the Pokémon concept. You get a starter because you need a Pokémon to fight against wild Pokémon in order to protect you. Wild Pokémon aren't just statues that stare at you while you throw Pokéballs at them.
Why don't the add in the option to play they game traditionally (with wild Pokemon battling?). Seems like it would be very easy to implement since the battle mechanics are already developed. Maybe they will
Really hope they change their mind regarding dealing with wild pokemon. Yes, the Pokemon Go style is cool, but it's only good for the actual app itself. We've been able to battle wild pokemon since Gen 1. We need to still be able to do that.
MrResistance It's for more casual Pokémon players. I am personally very excited because I don't care much for battling but I love catching Pokémon and exploring
Honestly though, this style of catching Pokémon seems much more...realistic? Like, if you wanted to tame a wild animal, which would you think is the better strategy: trying to beat it into submission and force it to join you, or attempt to calm it and gain its trust by feeding it something? Though I do think fighting should be an option, with the bonus of gaining more experience but the penalty of being unable to catch said Pokémon. And maybe a mechanic where more aggressive Pokémon are more likely to attack and refuse to be caught would be cool. Like 75% of the time, you could catch a Spearow, but 25% of the time the Spearow is too aggressive and you have to fight.
A : "OHMYGOD NINTENDO SCREWED IT I REALLY HATE IT WHY DID THEY MAKE IT LIKE POKÉMON GO" B : "This game is meant for kids and very casual play." A : "I KNOW BUT ITS STILL A PIECE OF GARBAGE" B : "Then don't buy it, there's the core game next year anyway." A : "I KNOW BUT I STILL WANT TO RANT ABOUT HOW THEY REALLY SCREWED THIS UP ANYWAY! REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE"
This is going to get really boring really fast Constantly having to catch pokemon jus to level up ur party... run around and flick ur wrist is how to grind out for levels now. I get the crowd they are trying to appeal to but sheesh
not really different than the other games having to battle other wild pokemon. Most likely there going to have a battle place where you can level up easier and faster.
I think this will be decent. I also understand that their main goal wasn't to make another traditional Pokemon game, but there are still some key features that I'm very surprised they left out...But I have faith that Nintendo knows what they're doing. I mean, Pokemon Colosseum was one of my all time favorite games, and this is in the same unorthodox direction. Regardless of my concerns, I'm excited. I'll be getting the Eevee version.
RizeVize I don't think you know how to read. He said that it will be unorthodox like Colosseum not that it will be like Colosseum. I mean English could just not he your first Language
"So how do you transfer Pokemon from Pokemon GO into Let's Go?" "Well, you can like, put them in this park..." "Okay, and how do you take them from the park to the game?" "Erm... well" *BZZZzz BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP* CUT THE FEED CUT THE FEEED!
JinsanSama lol it’s probably hard to believe but I did all my leveling in the grass to get my team even...since I don’t use the experience share item 😅 it will just be a new way to play. But never repel always ether
But that takes ages at some point. I mean I get it, I did that, too, mainly because trainers didn't want to battle me again... but after a while you get as good as no ep from wild Pokemon battles anymore.
JinsanSama True. It’s not game breaking but I do like battling wild Pokémon. It makes me nostalgic. I usually avoid the safari zone because I’m not a fan of not battling wild Pokémon’s 😅. It’s just different.
Maybe they can add an “original mode” where it’s the EXACT same story line, starting Pokémon, villain (team rocket) and still includes wild battles. The same game just made for the switch. I do like this blend of handheld and pokemonGO but I think most of us wanted the graphics of this upcoming game with the authenticity and format of the handheld games. Of course theirs more games to come for switch and handheld so let’s just see what they have in store. Also character customization would be nice. I know the point is to play the story as the hero or heroine trainer but to truly immerse yourself into the game it would be nice to make the character fit YOU & your style. Skin tones and hair textures included.
It’s so sad that everything about this would make this the best Pokémon game to date, and then there is no battles against wild Pokémon and the weird Cp thing..
This game looks way too easy. You need a super effective type to enter the gym? And the 2 player mode should bump up the opponents pokemons level to make the fights at least fair or a bit of a challenge. This game will sadly be a cakewalk
quinten greg every modern pokemon game has been a cakewalk for me. And to be honest, this looked like a bit good. I mean, battling wild pokemon ALWAYS is kinda a dragged for me so...but I guess it would be better if we could battle pokemon in here since it's no longer grass random pokemon appearing. We can see the models themselves and has the option to encounter a pokemon.
The Mewtwo battle was already teased in the trailer, that's definitely going to be an actual fight, no way they wouldn't do that. As are, I suspect, the legendary birds. These aren't really "wild" pokemon, because they're all stationary and you have to go through dungeons to get to them.
I don't really see why people are so upset. This is a nice and pleasent redesign of gen1 to appeal to the more casual players. We are still getting a main series pokemon game next year, so it's not like this is the death of pokemon as we know it. If you want to play an updated Gen1 then play FireRed/LeafGreen, because they're both great games
Honestly this game hurt my soul. If they wanted to remake yellow, they should have done it EXACTLY how it should be. I get the whole wanting to put GO into this..but CP..? And not battling wild pokemon? You're teaching the kids how to play WRONG, so when the new gen comes out, they're going to get wrecked because they won't understand why it's not like this, or whatever, IF this is their first pokemon game. They just messed up with this. This could have been great. Coming from someone who has played every single pokemon game since I was young...this is very disappointing.
they should have invested the time , effort and money in making the next gen pokemon for the switch.we already have pokemon Go and theres no point replicating its gameplay. (but expecting it sooner or later)
Space Infinity They have enough staff (and seemingly brought more people in) to make both this and next year's core game, especially since this being a Kanto remake means that it's a relatively small game.
oh yeah, you had to battle wild pokemon before, but this time you might be playing in the living room with friends, so that's gone. i mean, you just can't battle wild pokemon in the living room, we're not savages over here. instead, let us give you the mechanics of our god damm mobile game, but without the fun of actually finding stuff in the real world... you know people are crying for innovation, but removing interesting factors of your games is not innovation! implementing the catching mechanic is fine, but don't just remove a lot of your battles in exchange... and leveling your party while not even seeing them do anything just feels wrong even by looking at it..
I’m really hyped for Pokemon 2019 now. This is just a small taste of what’s to come! The Pokemon battles look pretty good, the models are nice and shiny, smooth animations, and Pokemon following you are just a few things making me super hyped.
Ya know for everyone saying "this isn't a main series title so don't complain about the inability to battle a wild Pokemon" remember that this is technically Pokemon yellow so its more a main title than anything. They changed the graphics which look great but they removed the battling mechanic in favor of Pokemon go. I'll say I'm not happy and i don't have to get it of course but come on Nintendo. Is this their way of ensuring we play Pokemon go into the future? I imagine it wasn't cheap for them but still. Id prefer an actual side title with the GO features as opposed to the game that started it all.
Couldn't they just make it so that you can fight the pokemon and then, according how well you throw it, catch the pokemon itself? This is basically safari, but in the entire game.
I really like this so far, and this is for a fan that's been into Pokemon for ten years now! It's different enough to feel fresh and using the same similar style of pokemon. I really do like the catching mechanic and tbh, it beats grinding every second to level up at different points. The graphics are fantastic and its so vibrant too! I'm happy to know that were getting a mainstream pokemon game next year, since I can get two different kinds of pokemon games while getting my Pokemon Fixing. I know what I said was all confusing and such, but I really am excited for this game, as well as the upcoming mainstream title!
My childhood was built on Pokemon. I have so many great memories of playing the games with my older brother. Recently I have been really excited because my 6 year old younger brother has finally found an interest in this series that meant so much to me growing up. However, as much as he loves the show and Pokemon in general, the main series games are still too complex for him. Say what you will about these Let's Go games, but I am very excited because I already know this will be a great way to finally introduce my brother to the Pokemon games. I understand the frustration and desire for a real Pokemon game on the Switch, but please remember that we will be getting one in 2019. If Let's Go doesn't interest you, that's fine, don't buy it and just wait for the new game, but I think this will be a great way to introduce new fans to the series.
Annnnnd my hype is gone. I was really excited as I thought you could choose between traditional battling or go straight into the throwing mechanic or battle then throw as that would've made sense since we're still only allowed to be trainers. I get they still want people to play US&M but this is ridiculous and disappointing as everything else is SO cool and beautiful! :/
No wild battle = not for me. They failed to apply the nostalgia definition for me. When I was a kid, I loved the fact that I can battle even the wild Pokémon and level up. They basically just took that away for no reason...
I don’t see why it matters whether it is a spin-off or not. As I watched the trailer for these games, my heart swelled with joy at the idea of being able to play a remake of one of the gen 1 games on the switch with beautiful graphics and wonderful new features including the ability to actually throw your Pokeball to catch Pokémon. Then my heart sunk that one of my favorite parts of the Pokémon games was missing. Battling wild Pokémon. I know there are still trainer battles and you gain xp through catching Pokémon, but it was fun to have to battle your way through the wild. As for using repels, it was only ever useful when you were traveling somewhere specific that you couldn’t fly to and when fighting the Pokémon wasn’t worth your time. Being able to last against the wild encounters and the trainers as you traveled to new areas of the game was part of the challenge and fun of playing a Pokémon game. Spin-off game or not. I’m still sad there are no wild Pokémon battles. 😢
Wild Pokemon battling, and individually training is a fundemental mechanic for Pokemon - for me and others. I think I will pass on this game and stick to the 2019 release. Why remove a key mechanic? - it baffles me. Not sure I know anyone who wants the "Pokemon Go" integrating with the normal games - just asking for trouble! Not to mention the battle animations isn't really anything impressive; the movement is very minimalistic and the move animation isn't great either!
Dan P I thought the same! They ought to focus on improving graphics (since this is technically a yellow remake), instead of introducing different tactics.
Because the game isn’t for you. That’s why they removed it. It’s not a core RPG entry (that one has been confirmed for next year). Think of this as a bridge for people who got into Pokémon GO, but haven’t had much experience with the main franchise. It potentially broadens their customer base for the upcoming core game. And considering how the GO player base spiked, it’s not a bad idea business-wise.
Looks decent .... BUT!!!!! Why can't we fight them first then go into the catching minigame after if you want to catch it ... Its too casual, all Pokémon get Exp after catching Pokémon? I don't like it that much . Battling looks fun but shouldn't take something out as staple as fighting wild Pokémon.
man as someone who has played every main series pokemon game i'm actually excited for this. I've been waiting for a console game since gale of darkness and honestly going through kanto again is perfectly fine with me. The wild pokemon thing is kinda off putting but I mean it's different and could be fun kinda like shadow pokemon so i'll give it a chance.
Really not intrested in this game, and I hate I have to say this. There are so many glaring issues I'm seeing with this. For those who are excited for this game, have fun with it, but it just isn't for me.
Good, another gen 1 focused game. I’m so glad I can see the same 150 pokes, the same region, and the same trainers again. Can’t wait for the next gen 1 update.
Looks WAY too easy & why can't you damage wild Pokemon, then catch them? I get that it's for casuals but at one point we all were! Got my first Pokemon game when I was 8. It was challenging but I managed to beat it & it felt More rewarding, then guiding your hand. Kids these days are just as capable of doing the same, they might even be smarter. Making this traditional would have been a decent way to prepare casual Pokemon go users for the core rpg in 2019 smh....
I am very old school i actually want to battle the wild Pokemon and feel the thrill of battling and getting it to its lowest hp and then trying to catch it but still not being able to catch it. All that to say i miss the actual hardship of Pokemon that really challenges your determination and patience as a gamer. But I love Pokemon so I might still play it
btw, you will be able to battle wild pokemon in the new mainline games. This is like complaining about mystery dungeons mechanics because they aren't like Emeralds mechanics.
Still wondering how your Pokemon go lv will affect things as well will IV's be increased as you walk around with the Pokemon in the pokeball? An when do we get trading an PvP for POGO this is nice but not really what we need for PvP on POGO WE NEED TO BE ABLE TO USE OUR CELLPHONES TO DO ALL OF THOSE THINGS BECAUSE IT IS POGO NOT EVERYONE CARRIES AROUND A CONSOLE WITH THEM
I think I’m coming around to this new game as I was and still am a bit hesitant cuz it kinda looks like a casual fest but we’ll see! Hopefully I’ll love it and I think it’ll be a great filler for the new 2019 game. I definitely hope that new pokeball controller will be compatible with newer Pokémon mainline games too cuz that’ll be awesome
As much as i dislike this "passive" feel to wild pokemon battles, considering pokemon are supposed to be wild animals and i assure you, id feel more panicked if i got jumped by a giant wasp, i do enjoy the rendition of the music with the violins
If I was playing it right in front of them I’d say “I wish I could battle these wild Pokémon” Getting exp without battling is weird They didn’t see any action why should they get Exp
I’m going to be honest, I don’t have a switch yet but I’m getting one along with this game when it releases. I’m not a fan of some of the new mechanics but I do see a lot of mechanics I do like, I know it a spin-off and it’s basically a console version of Pokémon Go. As long as this series doesn’t interfere with the core games then I’m happy and I’ll be playing this until the actual core game releases.
Looooovvveee the fact pokemon will follow behind you. Love the co-op. Not sure about the game play, guess ill have to try it. Still looks really great! Eevee edition for sure!
Game freak, pleeeeease don’t make me have a pre selected team by MAKING me choose a Pokémon that is strong in a specific gym. I get that it teaches new players how types work, but I don’t want to have to worry about having Pokémon on my team for the sake of entering a gym. I want to be able to make my own team like always. Also, what do you do with all the Pokémon you catch repeats of? Do you transfer them like in GO for items? Do you release them all from the new form of PC? or just stockpile a crap ton of ratatta?
Yup. Literally the only reason I'm on the fence about playing it. Still gonna wind up getting it because my older sister loves everything Eevee, but it just feels off to me.
I love the follow/ride feature. I hope that carries into the main series games! Being able to have arcanine carry me around may seal the deal for me... Is it true Pokémon like lickitung and tangela can’t evolve in this game?
I cant speak from actual knowledge but the game seems to be a revisit to Gen 1. Specifically yellow version. So it makes sense that it would stick to Gen 1 rules including the evolution stages.
From what I have heard, they are only including all 151 original Pokemon, plus all alolan forms of these pokemon, plus one brand new mystery pokemon. They are not including baby pokemon or pre-evolutions (like magby, igglybuff, or pichu), they are not including any non-Kanto evolutions (like Kingdra, or Bellossom, or Tangrowth), they are not including any non-Kanto Eeveelutions (Espeon, Umbreon, Leafeon, Glaceon, Slyveon) and they are not including any Mega Evolutions (or Z-moves for that matter).
This looks visually stunning. Looks like the have a good base line for future pokemon games. No battling to weaken wild pokemon is a bit of a turn off. It would be good to have it more open world and not so linear like past games. I think we will get there one day though
They already have the battle mechanics in.. What they should do is at the start of the playthrough or maybe whenever you're out of an encounter you can switch between "Go" mode and normal mode.
One gigantic safari zone....
so true 😂
Your comment made my day
But there is no option to use rocks 😂
Accurate saying, mate 😂
Yea so
The graphics have definitely been stepped up a notch but the game mechanics seemed to have stepped back.
We should still have the option to battle wild Pokemon. I don't find the appeal of catching the same species over and over again just to gain experience.
its not a main game anyway so its not a big deal
Aj The Pichu Pride wow... what's got you so but hurt?
Aj The Pichu Pride Probably don't want your parents to find out you're telling people to kill themselves online. Might get your Internet privileges taken away
That's fair, but keep in mind this is a spin-off game to help Pokémon GO player have an easier time to transition to the main series game coming out in 2019. :p
Lincoln Eyar Yeah I feel the same.
I hate not being able to fight wild pokemon...
Es de Gamers you and me both
I feel like I'm the only one who likes the new method of catching Pokémon
Es de Gamers It ruins the concept of Pokemon games....
Totally agree ! How can we level up our pokemon now ?
WHY NOT WEAKEN POKEMON WITH MOVES AND *_THEN_* THROW YOUR JOYCON TO CATCH A POKEMON?
Now that is just too much innovation for one game.
Moon ur askin for too much
Kung-Fu Kenny what you mean by asking toomuch it always been like that
Paradox r/woosh maybe?
Moon I think it’s a wooosh
“We figures everyone would be playing in their living room with friends so we changed the mechanic”
You thought wrong
Indeed
Pretty sure most of us just play in our rooms by ourselves. Maybe with a sibling if we're lucky.
Can’t believe they just assumed that I have friends. Big mistake
Josherrino
I'm hoping for the 2019 generation they improve battle animations. I'd like to see the Pokemon move around more when they attack rather then them just slightly moving back and forth.
Exactly. If they don't innovate for real this franchise is going to die eventually.
I am also hoping that the overworld will be used for the battle location.
Removing wild battles is like removing the soul from the series. Wild battling is a crucial part of Pokemon.
tigertron core games are coming in 2019. Wild battles will be back
This is not the soul of the main series...
slaserdude it's close though. It was always about catching the Pokemon with your Pokemon. Even in the anime you don't just throw pokeballs at the Pokemon without weakening it.
False, catching and collecting Pokemon was always the most important thing in Pokemon, not wild battles
DakiMagia yes but you always battled them to catch them. Name how many games that let you do that and how many didn't.
IN MY DAY I had to fight Brock with tail whip, growl, sand attack, pikachus quick attack, train a nidoran, mankey or butterfree AND WE LIKED IT!
Chris Pole butterfree with confusion used to always save that and Mankey the 90s gotta love em 😂
Chris Pole did that after he had walked to school in two feet snow and up a hill. And he loved it
JAMES C I'm a big fan of HCBaillys lets plays. When he plays old school games lacking modern convieniences like running shoes. He reminds the audiance there was a time where you had to walk everywhere In the game and you had to a have a Theif in your party and press B just to run!
Nidorino with doublekick is your friend
We only want the same game we already had because I hate playing games that try new things! Give us the same game with the same way to play blah blah blah!
HOW DOES YOUR POKEMON GAIN EXP WHEN NOT A SINGLE ONE EVEN BATTLED?! I hate that feature. Its fine in GO, but for an actual game? I want my team to battle.
kirara2516 gain points from catching Pokémon. I don’t like the fact that we cannot battle Wild Pokémon.
you literally see it in the first 3 mins of the video lol
That was implemented in Pokemom White and Black if i'm not mistaken. Nothing new. The thing I dont like is that you cant battle wild pokemon.
Ever used a Quick Ball in the newer Games ever? You won't battle the Wild Pokemon either and still get EXP. The only thing really missing there is the sequence in wich you let out your own Pokemon.
kirara2516 don't get this game, get next year's with the original style of game play
Pretty soon games will just play themselves and tell you how special you are.
William Jones lol
This is the scariest story I’ve heard in a long time.
*Ahem* Pokemon Quest...
do you mean sonic forces
Dont worry. The industry has a huge investment in games that like to jack off to how hard they are. Dark Souls and the like.
I hope this is a sign that the 2019 game will be one of the most challenging pokemon games as of yet
Young Kim maybe challenging for a newborn:/
I need Nintendo to stop assuming everyone just has friends, and even if you have friends that you have friends who are willing to play video games with you. I started playing video games BECAUSE i had no friends, not the other way around lol
god same!!
LOL
I’m glade Nintendo actually keeps having local multiplayer besides it’s not like your forced to play with people. Playing with people is what made video games fun in the past now a lot of it is online which are not friends.
I am feeling you
This was me before I married someone who likes Pokémon.
Lol. Protection from wild Pokemon is literally the reason you're given your starter in red/blue/yellow. That's obviously no longer the case.
There's no reason you shouldn't be able to battle wild Pokemon, all they've done is take away an option. I can't believe people are defending it.
Everything else looks great.
Your opinion
Sario2K have they confirmed you can rematch with trainers? That's cool if so
I’m not sure if I’m getting this or not.. the Pokémon go mechanics are killing it for me.
"So we've changed the mechanics... can you tell us a bit about that?"
"俺わおちんちんが大好きなんだよ"
I like your profile pic
nyeeessssss
Gurosama Bltch and what is it we're doing here "hi &$#"$%#$" I swear he was saying hi before he said whatever else he was saying lol
you know, the thing I find myself wondering is how accurate your characters are. Did you actually get the real statement or did you just put in random ones?
Aaron What do you mean by how accurate my characters are? わたしわなにほんごがはなせません
Then like it.
It's gonna be sooo hard to level up now you have to catch Pokémon to gain exp
Kaizo Audio that's too dark. You battle them until dying and you capture them to be enslaved. Thats happen 20 years. Something need refreshed
Next year :D
Should be fighting then the pokemon go style ball throws
Daniel Jackson for real weres the fighting wild Pokémon
Jovernater69 I know right, big let down... also the p2w mew if there's online battles
I hope they do this for the 2019 game.
Partly the reason why it's not a fully fledged, main series Pokemon game. One day though.
Its a different kind of game, you can still battle trainers.
So what just walk up to Ledendaries now and throw a ball? Where's the struggle? What fun is that?
William Bright The struggle is that they won’t be easy to catch, even in this formula, they will escape from the ball a lot of times.
+NO THAT'S WONG! "they won't be easy to catch" Remember inflicting damage and using moves like Sleep Powder or Thunderwave help raise catch rates? Are we just gonna be staring at the Pokemon mocking us as it barely shakes once constantly without the option to weaken it?
pokemon go for you right there.
aaaah i see u a man with culture, i just hope they remake pokemon fire red/green leave into that animation :(
eh, legendary pokemon are probably a battle
They missed out on a opportunity to give fans a console version of the handheld games that fans have been asking for, for 20 years... Instead they try to make Pokemon Go a console game...
Force Alchemist That’s exactly how I feel. It doesn’t matter that it’s a “spin-off,” but that it squanders such a wonderful opportunity to make this game truly something great. 😢
Parker king I’m pissed too. But there is main series next year at least.
Force Alchemist But there's a altered story
They didn't miss anything. You're getting that game next year
cause its definitely a one shot opportunity......
Not battling wild Pokemon is a huge turn for me. The mechanic of how you throw the ball is cool and all but honestly it’s not really that amazing given that we’ve had motion control games for a very long time now.
anyone else just rather have a normal Pokemon game for switch? I would
Gamer Culture TV Next year.
I know man but I would rather not wait :(
Think of it like this. The longer they have to work on the games means better the game
I would which is why I’m not buying this one and waiting
Gamer Culture TV next year
this game looks way to easy. why give pikachu double kick? why can't we struggle at the first gym or go out a catch a manky. when I get this that exp share is getting turned off right away!
This is just a demo it won’t be that easy haha. And just do t play co op
Skelet's Play well the pokemon they're using or like twice the level of everything else. Sooooo they have a "boosted" account for the demo
they are not twice the level, that geodude was 7 and the pikachu was 9. that is two levels, not twice
WOODS I hate to say it but being 20 years old growing up with fire red, emerald, diamond, and such. I don’t think the new games aren’t targeted for me in general, probably for the younger audience who love it easy...
im happy pikachu is getting a buff..
I can understand using the joycon controllers to catch pokemon. But why can't you battle the pokemon first and then if you want to capture the pokemon you can use those same mechanics?
michael coughlin because that would make sense
Because it's Pokemon go inspired
Because thats next years version. Gotta milk it somehow
I was hoping that you could weaken the Wild Pokémon via battle, and then add the GO mechanic when catching them
Please Nintendo bring back wild Pokémon battles !!! That is the only thing keeping me from buying the game :(
AzA R10 Same here. I'll buy it if it's optional but if it's not, I'm sitting this one out.
The Cardassian It’s not optional, but it’s also not a core Pokemon game. The next core game will release on the Switch in 2019
You leave Viridian forest with like 100 useless duplicate Pokémon that you'll never use, but at least you'll be high level... Bring back wild battles, just use the tacked on motion controls as an optional more efficient catching method, don't give the finger to the core fan base
I know they're releasing a proper game next year but why'd they get rid of the fights? That's the main thing I remember from Pokemon growing up. Did PETA make this one?
Holly Dot its cuz of the go integration, no wild battles in go
Holly Dot bruh you still fight Pokemon in trainer battles did you watch? I'm all for trying new things.
It's a way to make the gameplay faster.
Tommy Faust , it's not new things. You already had the "throwing ball" phase with wild pokemon. They just removed the battle part for no reason.
all I can say no more Zubat in Tunnels or Caves xD
So my Pokémon boxes will be filled with garbage all the time just for exp
maria papageloy they put this mechanic in gen 6, calm down. This isn't anything new
Matthew Meek u mean Pokemon Y and X?
@Matthew Meek
True, we got exp from catching pokemons in XY and S/M but no one was catching pokemons for the exp in those games
Matthew Meek yeah but now its the only way to get exp..
Its Ender actually, Masuda [i believe it was him anyways] indirectly confirmed it to be a main series game
You should have to knock out all the hp in wild battle and instead of them fainting you should have a chance catch em if you fail they run off just like the animation
That’s a really good idea/compromise
this, this is actually the only good idea i have found in this entire comment section yet.
Thomas good add on to my idea I'd like that as well.
Safari Zone: The Game! Also going team rocket style in battles 2v1 XD
Not a core game. The new core rpg is coming out next year
I hate that you don't fight wild pokemon before catching, that's the whole joy and fun of pokemon... The frustration of not catching a rare pokemon etc...
Daleywhu2107 Why do you have to have combat to have that? Just because you don't have to battle to catch, doesn't mean catching rare 'Mon won't still be challenging.
Nah, I'm good thanks.
Susaigi The Fallen Stop being part of the problemby defending a trash mechanic.
Why don't the add in the option to play they game traditionally (with wild Pokemon battling?). Seems like it would be very easy to implement since the battle mechanics are already developed. Maybe they will
amidnightstroll That's the only way I'm buying this game. Make it optional.
I think it definitely has a spot in this game but not a mechanic that is used the majority of the time
Honestly though, this style of catching Pokémon seems much more...realistic? Like, if you wanted to tame a wild animal, which would you think is the better strategy: trying to beat it into submission and force it to join you, or attempt to calm it and gain its trust by feeding it something? Though I do think fighting should be an option, with the bonus of gaining more experience but the penalty of being unable to catch said Pokémon. And maybe a mechanic where more aggressive Pokémon are more likely to attack and refuse to be caught would be cool. Like 75% of the time, you could catch a Spearow, but 25% of the time the Spearow is too aggressive and you have to fight.
Sadly they still have not changed their mind and we won't have to fight them
Not gonna lie as much as I like this being a remake of yellow, im just gonna wait for the 2019 game.
A : "OHMYGOD NINTENDO SCREWED IT I REALLY HATE IT WHY DID THEY MAKE IT LIKE POKÉMON GO"
B : "This game is meant for kids and very casual play."
A : "I KNOW BUT ITS STILL A PIECE OF GARBAGE"
B : "Then don't buy it, there's the core game next year anyway."
A : "I KNOW BUT I STILL WANT TO RANT ABOUT HOW THEY REALLY SCREWED THIS UP ANYWAY! REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE"
u mad?
AlexTheGhost no im Dad
XD
SO YOU ADMIT, THIS GAME IS A PIECE OF GARBAGE
I will Get it for the lols
As a spinoff it looks great but the mainline should still remain as it always is
Soalz spin off is an overstatement but you are right
NinJaZ Creed Main game which is gen 8 is coming in 2019, this is a spinoff.
Soalz According to the initial announcement, this is a main series game
Atheist Named Christian this feels more hybrid as the story is Yellow but follows up gameplay as Go.
Soalz wow that's like exactly what's happening thanks for stating whats already happening
This is going to get really boring really fast
Constantly having to catch pokemon jus to level up ur party... run around and flick ur wrist is how to grind out for levels now. I get the crowd they are trying to appeal to but sheesh
not really different than the other games having to battle other wild pokemon. Most likely there going to have a battle place where you can level up easier and faster.
Or you can battle trainers for exp
killacam543210 I don't think anyone used daycare to level up..
Is the implication that the wild battles where you kill the same pidgey and rattata over and over in the exact same way aren't stupidly boring?
Haha too slow. Drop my magicarp off..... finish the game an catch mewtwo go back and it's only lvl 17 hahaha
one problem you cant fight a wild pokemon
Bob we knew that, core pokemon game is coming in 2019
no they wont, it's minor bug fixing at this point. The reason behind it is they want a pokemon go hybrid.
This is a spin-off catered towards GO fans, so I dunno why core fans are complaining about there being no Wild Pokemon fights.
CHBB Gameplays no, they won't. That's what makes this game different.
Is it really that big of a problem that you can't fight wild pokemon? You still get exp for catching, and you can still battle other trainers.
Joshua K
I highly doubt this game will be similar to Colosseum or XD. It is more like a Pokemon GO console version.
Joshua K Ik getting Eevee version as well
RizeVize I don't think you know how to read. He said that it will be unorthodox like Colosseum not that it will be like Colosseum. I mean English could just not he your first Language
boomboy b
Yeah apparently I missunderstood him. Thanks for reminding me that English isn't my native language.
Supposedly they are still doing a traditional style game as well, for 2019.
I just realized that this like the Safari zone you can pokeballs, berries, and a rock
"So how do you transfer Pokemon from Pokemon GO into Let's Go?"
"Well, you can like, put them in this park..."
"Okay, and how do you take them from the park to the game?"
"Erm... well" *BZZZzz BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP* CUT THE FEED CUT THE FEEED!
Shikashi Sensei You have to re catch them in the park. Sorta like how pal park worked in Generation 4
Yeah I read up on that later, that's good news, it was hilarious at the time when that happened during the conference though
Wait so just to be clear. You can use your Pokémon GO Pokémon?
Chasae Yeah you move them to the park in let’s go. Then you have to re them catch then they become useable afterwards
CEDL0W ok thank you
I’ve been playing pkmn since red and blue
This is the first game I think I’m going to pass on
That would be a mistake. Dont let the pokemon go style of catching scare you off. That is literally the only unavoidable change that has been added.
Demetrius Coleman same
Aww did they really take away wild Pokémon battles? :( that’s my favorite part.
yeah it's pretty dumb they should give you the option if you wanna have a wild battle or just throw pokeballs at it until you catch it...
It isn't. Repel to avoid them Quick Ball to not having to do them. You did that, too. Don't say something else :P
JinsanSama lol it’s probably hard to believe but I did all my leveling in the grass to get my team even...since I don’t use the experience share item
😅 it will just be a new way to play.
Trace is not my Gary...
Use Mods
Graphics look beautiful, then the battle starts.......... This is weak 😖😖😖😖......... 😟😟......... 😭😭😭😭
Skelet's Play 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🙅
This game looks way too easy. You need a super effective type to enter the gym? And the 2 player mode should bump up the opponents pokemons level to make the fights at least fair or a bit of a challenge. This game will sadly be a cakewalk
quinten greg every modern pokemon game has been a cakewalk for me. And to be honest, this looked like a bit good. I mean, battling wild pokemon ALWAYS is kinda a dragged for me so...but I guess it would be better if we could battle pokemon in here since it's no longer grass random pokemon appearing. We can see the models themselves and has the option to encounter a pokemon.
quinten greg i dont think so
Are we getting Diamond and Pearl remake??
You will but you won't be able to battle wild Pokemon and there won't be any Gen 5-8 Pokemon available anywhere.
so i have to catch 10000 rattatas to level up :D
Patrick Rayleigh yea pretty much lmao 🤣
not at all. You only need 9000 rattatas and one great catch.
I think nintendo should do a fight option for wild pokemon, you can fight it or catch it if you want
Pikachu is overrated.... if I am getting this its gonna be the Eevee edition.
ShadowRealmFox except you can't evolve your Eevee so you're stuck with a normal type.. ugh
I heard they gave that Pikachu stat buffs so its similar to Tapu Koko
Nick Loss are you high?
Nick Loss Evee can evolve
Not your starter Eevee.
Nah I need to battle for mine. That epic mewtwo battle
Silentmessengerqun It could be a boss fight... you know like a raid from GO... But I get what you mean
The Mewtwo battle was already teased in the trailer, that's definitely going to be an actual fight, no way they wouldn't do that. As are, I suspect, the legendary birds. These aren't really "wild" pokemon, because they're all stationary and you have to go through dungeons to get to them.
I will miss Critical Hitting shiny pokemon.
Save Spot I completely agree
they should have invested the time , effort and money in making the next gen pokemon for the switch.we already have pokemon Go and theres no point replicating its gameplay. (but expecting it sooner or later)
Space Infinity They have enough staff (and seemingly brought more people in) to make both this and next year's core game, especially since this being a Kanto remake means that it's a relatively small game.
oh yeah, you had to battle wild pokemon before, but this time you might be playing in the living room with friends, so that's gone. i mean, you just can't battle wild pokemon in the living room, we're not savages over here. instead, let us give you the mechanics of our god damm mobile game, but without the fun of actually finding stuff in the real world...
you know people are crying for innovation, but removing interesting factors of your games is not innovation! implementing the catching mechanic is fine, but don't just remove a lot of your battles in exchange... and leveling your party while not even seeing them do anything just feels wrong even by looking at it..
preach. selling out is depressing
I hope the developers listen to everyone shouting "REMOVING WILD BATTLES IS DUMB!"
I’m really hyped for Pokemon 2019 now. This is just a small taste of what’s to come! The Pokemon battles look pretty good, the models are nice and shiny, smooth animations, and Pokemon following you are just a few things making me super hyped.
Why do thery remove battle mode with wild pokemon? The only thing you should is remake the game in new graphic
Andy Nguyen its not a main game anyway
Would be better if the second player had her own 6 Pokemon. That would be awesome!
It's official, pokemon is moving on from us and gearing up for the next generation.
Nvm, I had no idea this was a side game
The enemy trainers pokemon levels seem way too low....
starting area and a demo. The point is to be somewhat quick and demonstrative instead of actual playtime.
Seriously, this is the game?
Mikey Carmine No, its a spinoff, the core Pokemon game is coming in 2019/2020
Its a demo
Yea so what
Couldn't they just make it so that you can fight the pokemon and then, according how well you throw it, catch the pokemon itself? This is basically safari, but in the entire game.
Finally you can avoid wild Pokémon
Man-cool shazni but you can use a reppel to avoid them
I really like this so far, and this is for a fan that's been into Pokemon for ten years now!
MegaPiGuy314 Lol that was beautiful. Are you a bot?
Yes, I was designed by Nintendo to help promote this game.
They basically just took that away for no reason...
not gonna even emulate this casual game.
killacam543210 did you forgot to take your meds?
Tamal Plays I mean clearly you did...
You spent a relaxing time with Slowpoke! >:)
This looks like one huge grind
AriCat Valentine I agree! :)
Was excited for this but no wild battles, might give it a miss and wait for the PRG next year!
man as someone who has played every main series pokemon game i'm actually excited for this. I've been waiting for a console game since gale of darkness and honestly going through kanto again is perfectly fine with me. The wild pokemon thing is kinda off putting but I mean it's different and could be fun kinda like shadow pokemon so i'll give it a chance.
This could have literally been on the 3 DS we wanted a open world game like Monster Hunter not this
Red > Ash
Oh red is better
At being *OVERRATED.*
^
Seriously red is bland af.
And Ash can't win the big one. lol
Ash is Trash
Really not intrested in this game, and I hate I have to say this. There are so many glaring issues I'm seeing with this. For those who are excited for this game, have fun with it, but it just isn't for me.
Tony Foster k
Tony Foster omfg so many glaring issue like no wild battles and-! No wild battles....
boomboy b Well, it's a bit more for me in general.... but I am sorry if I have upset you. Hope you have a good day though.
Good, another gen 1 focused game. I’m so glad I can see the same 150 pokes, the same region, and the same trainers again. Can’t wait for the next gen 1 update.
I like the graphics and the HUD, no wild battle~ -75% of fun and -50% accomplishment.
but it's a must buy for hardcore pokémon fans.
I was gonna but this and a switch until I saw the gameplay...
Im the same lol
Same lmao
same.. but I'm still kinda thinking about buying it and a switch cos of super smash bros
カダージュKadaj yea smash bros will be lit
The gameplay is perfect
I am very old school i actually want to battle the wild Pokemon and feel the thrill of battling and getting it to its lowest hp and then trying to catch it but still not being able to catch it. All that to say i miss the actual hardship of Pokemon that really challenges your determination and patience as a gamer. But I love Pokemon so I might still play it
"I am very old school" , "determination and patience as a gamer", mlp pic.
Define old school.
DethNDots
Old School: when I could battle the wild Pokemon like the past games
I see you guys are new to the internet.
btw, you will be able to battle wild pokemon in the new mainline games. This is like complaining about mystery dungeons mechanics because they aren't like Emeralds mechanics.
DethNDots
Define mainline games
So everywhere is Safari Zone?
better. The safari zone WITH trainer battles.
If I was playing it right in front of them I’d say “I wish I could battle these wild Pokémon”
Getting exp without battling is weird
They didn’t see any action why should they get Exp
NashDTV you’ve always gotten exp from catching Pokémon why are you just now complaining?
NoobishSkittle Not always that didn’t start till XY.
But you technically battled it
I’m going to be honest, I don’t have a switch yet but I’m getting one along with this game when it releases.
Do you release them all from the new form of PC? or just stockpile a crap ton of ratatta?
why cant we battle wild pokemon.. at least give use the options to feed it or fight it.. that is the only issue i have with this game..
They are not including baby pokemon or pre-evolutions (like magby, igglybuff, or pichu),
they are not including any non-Kanto evolutions (like Kingdra, or Bellossom, or Tangrowth),
they are not including any non-Kanto Eeveelutions (Espeon, Umbreon, Leafeon, Glaceon, Slyveon)
and they are not including any Mega Evolutions (or Z-moves for that matter).
