I found content sorely lacking for free camping campsite reviews on UA-cam, especially in the eastern United States. This is why I launched our UA-cam Channel. Feedback like you just provided encourages further video production. Thanks for watching!
Great work. New subscriber here. I live an hour from these campgrounds. I'm glad that when the State of Ohio acquired 3 of these 5 campgrounds, they let them remain free with first-come-first-serve registration. Yes, campsite 8 is definitely the best there. Bicentennial (K) and Sand Hollow (C) are my two favorite of all of them. I'm a little limited with a 21 foot TT. You said it correctly, the smaller your rig, the greater your choices are. The lack of cell service is definitely a bummer, although you'll get minimal service at Maple Grove (G). I'll be back down there for sure after the 1st of April. I probably boondock down there 4 or 5 times a year. I'd camp down there more but the summers just get too hot and humid to be comfortable without A/C. Thanks for the videos!
The State of Ohio now has acquired all of the campgrounds in this area. Cell service is hit and miss in A. Also, at the trailhead in C you can get some cell service. And, as you mentioned, at G. The campgrounds aren't very busy this year.
Those type of problems have been resolved. The state now owns all the campgrounds and over 54,000 acres of land. It's now Jesse Owens State Park and Appalachian Hills Wildlife Area. Each campground has its own camp host and is regularly patrol by rangers.
Great video thanks for sharing! We love a good free/primitive campsite. We are finally dipping into more dry camping since we are not stationed in one place for a long time right now. Do you guys do a lot of dry camping and if so what is your method of keeping batteries charged? We are not sure if we should have a solar panel just big enough to keep the 12 volt charged, or a generator just in case we need to run an appliance or two?
Initially, I carried (and still do) two Yamaha 2000 generators that combine for 30 amp service. I also self-installed a three 12v BattleBorn lithium battery bank. The upgrade to lithium was a game changer. Could now run the furnace as needed without worrying about drawing below 12 volts. During our first snowbird adventure out West, I had 650 watts of solar installed at Discount Solar is Quartzsite, Arizona. I've only had to run the generators once since solar was installed. Hope this helps. If you love to boondock, solar is the way to go if you'll keep your rig long enough to recoup the benefit versus the cost. I spend about 6-7 months on the road a year, so it made sense for us. Thanks for watching!
@@LivingOurDreamNow thank you so much for the information! We also heard of people getting their generators stolen. I think solar will be the way to go!
Thank u for doing this video I'm going to make a trip out there, I live in Columbus n have a tent so I wasn't sure exactly if it's going to be worth it.
Bicentennial campground does have nearby hiking and kayak boating is allowed. There is access to the Buckeye Trail that passes north and south adjacent to the campground. Maps are available at the permit kiosk. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!
Hi Laura. The grid coordinates are included in the written video description on UA-cam. Just copy and paste these coordinates into Google Maps and hit enter: 39.774, -81.6451
Another great video. Thank you for what you do. It makes me feel more confident when I head out to camp. Solo female in a skoolie.

@@LivingOurDreamNow have a great day 👍
I had no idea this type of camping opportunity existed on east coast...thanks for sharing!
Our pleasure!
If there is no water available then why do we see that water well pump in the field? If it pumps then I'd be willing to use it.
I am very appreciative of all the East Coast free camping sites you have been posting. Thank you 🌞

Where is this camp ground located?
I provide grid coordinates within the written video description on UA-cam. Lou
I was at that campground a few weeks ago and there were some very shady people camping in the area leading back to the turn around.
Thank you for the feedback. Much appreciated. Thank you for watching!

I saw a hand pump,,,does it work??
No potable water is available at this campground. The water pumps are no longer in service.
Is there any hiking near the camp ground or kayak boating allowed on these small lakes?
Bicentennial campground does have nearby hiking and kayak boating is allowed. There is access to the Buckeye Trail that passes north and south adjacent to the campground. Maps are available at the permit kiosk. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!
Does the water pump work?
As I recall, no potable water was available. Come with your tanks full. A dump station and fresh water fill are available at Wolf Run State Park.
Can you plz specify the actual location? Town? Thanks❤️
