    I don’t agree with the negativity about the Emporia course. It is far from a Hyzer only course. Accuracy is paramount on that course otherwise you wouldn’t be seeing the best in the game bleeding OB. Hole 16 is an outright icon and the spectator experience is very good there. You don’t know how tight nine is until you see it in person.

    If you look at Emily Weatherman's disc , it IS NOT 100% surrounded by OB and cost her a chance at the 3 way tie . I guess since IT was on her card and only 1 stroke back , of course IT is gonna say OB . And karma made IT miss their putt on 18 . Total Bullsh** .

    • @ShawnSchulz
      @ShawnSchulz Місяць тому +1

      Even if not, it was too close to call and therefore goes to her benefit.

    • @chrispreperato5562
      @chrispreperato5562 Місяць тому

      Thats not the rule at all. The "benefit goes to her" if the card is tied 2-2 on the call. They werent, all 3 of them (and Terri Miller, who was at the disc before anyone, btw) agreed it was OB.
      If you cant execute a 200ft layup on a 50+ foot wide fairway, you probably weren't winning the tourney

    • @johnnyjones7904
      @johnnyjones7904 Місяць тому

      Yes that is the rule . Disc has to be 100% surrounded by OB to be considered OB . I think you need to read the rules .

      Precisely. This is not a debate. Finesse. Touch. These are every bit as important in a professional athlete's arsenal as anything else. Real tired of this non-issue being brought up. Uli was spot on in the practice round and everywhere else he has touched on it. Stop pretending it's the basket's fault you've been playing on since literally ever.

    Simple ruling to the OB debate: there were clearly attached, white-marked blades of grass on the in-bounds side of the disc. So, while in-bounds blades of grass may have indeed been touching the disc, it is trumped by the initial rule that there was also a portion of the OB-marked line between the disc and in-bounds. Correct call was made.

    Aggregate playoff works for this course, specifically because hole 16 basically ends a sudden death playoff if only one person makes the island..
    If we have marshals for each card, it needs to be determined what they can do.. determine OB, timing violations, warnings, strokes? Can they issue a course ruling, something the TD does usually? Who provides them? The PDGA, DGPT, or event? How do you assure consistency? Also, while that may be better than the competition policing itself, everyone would then complain about the 'refs.' As long as we don't go to ball golf's "anyone watching can call in a rule violation" bs, I'm fine with it.

    My take on the baskets in disc golf, is that they should have a standard for its exact dimensions and materials. The NBA has exact dimensions and materials for backboards and hoops. They go as far as saying the thread count for the net material. Disc golf should have a regulation basket that is used for all competitions. That would eliminate most all complaints.

    To me, it seems like the cheapest and easiest way to handle situations like weatherman's is if the players decide not on the ruling, but on a representative photograph or two, which is submitted to an official for a ruling. Meanwhile, a provisional would be played, and the players would assume the most beneficial outcome until official ruling. I know there are rules against video evidence, and maybe picture evidence as well, but maybe those are a bit antiquated when everyone has phones with decent cameras these days. After all, other professional sports consult footage for rulings all the time.

    It really is crazy to charge for admission. Both times I went to events I volunteered which got me free admission the rest of the event. So you can imagine that half the fans there are free anyway.
    I would love to see the numbers on admission and can a few G's really be worth it when they're missing out on a few G's in concession sales?
    These events should be packed with fun things for kids to do and every manufacturer there with tents full of discs to buy.
    What does the money go to anyway? 99% of the workers aren't getting paid and disc golf has always been a labor of love.
    The only why elite series tourneys should charge admission is if the previous year was way too packed and they need a way to turn ppl away.

    1. Officiating will not stop controversies. If a referee is forced to make a call in Emily's situation it would still be controversial. Hokom's comment may apply to different referees as well, not only different players on the card. You which sport has the most controversies? Football (soccer for the Americans) and it has plenty of referees and Video Assistance, when the call is that close it will always be a hot topic. I'm sure we will see more of Emily in the future. And player referees is a huge asset to the sport and needs to be protected.
    2. King's foofault call should be called out. We want players making the calls, but we don't want them making fake calls and this was one. There is no hipocrisy here.

    Personally ive played alot of courses with alot of different brand baskets, i feel the DD Veterans basket is actually a decent made basket and love the sound it makes when a putt is made correctly on it. The absolutely best made basket in my opinion, which you dont hear alot of complaints on is the Discraft Pro Chainstar basket. Here in California we have alot of Innova baskets which in my opinion are the absolute worst designed and made baksets installed today. Its the only basket with a 4" top band with the distracting Bright school bus yellow color, and the basket has the tubing going out to inside the basket and when you pull your disc it always catches on the metal hook. The Discraft Pro Chainstar and the DGA Mach 5,7 and x Should be the standard for the pro tour. Both baskets are well made and have the least spit outs. The Innova, prodigy,DD ,baskets are a solid intermediate basket. Ive Never played a course with the Rpm,Mvp, Latitude 64,GTS Baskets so i cant comment on those. In my opinion there should only be 1 basket on tour but the current basket size regulations should be modified, with a slightly smaller Basket top band,target area and specific Materials for construction. A basket that takes nothing but actual skill to sink the putt and take out Complete Dumb luck to make. The sport will not progress unless the targets, tees, rules, discs and players calibers can Progress and make certain aspects of the sport more difficult. Alot of work has to be done in every aspect of the game to elevate the sport to the highest level possible and to keep the game up with the current times.The Pdga needs younger fresh faces and management to keep up with the evolution of the game and needs to be 50/50 and collaborative with the DGPT and the players to obtain the best possible outcome and best interest for the sport. #1 should be keeping the players snd members happy not to line there pockets.

    Costs too much to walk around a field and you dont really know what you really get to see or not see (horrible explanation of VIP vs General). Block party is free and saw 30+ pros up close.
    If I had a full day to dedicate to watching I would have paid, but in my case it would have been 2 hours tops and not worth it.

    Pros are not intelligent enough to understand how to assemble a basket

    Emily weatherman got screwed. Fpo golf is kind of boring. It seems like when kristin is playing, the golf is just better.

    I did not like Jeremy Koling at all on commentary. Him and Ian are a horrible duo, Isn has no control or authority to keep things properly on track. Jeremy tries way too hard to be class clown and laugh at his own jokes 24/7. He needs to stay on Jomez, we need professional commentary like Charlie I and Sexton, even Doss.

    $10 max might be a fair spectator fee if they have vendors and Tattar at the event.
    Due to Bidenomics I can barely spare that.

    You can cry all you want about something like standard baskets but you don't have them so what's the point . To me I see a pro athleat as some one who has a plan for ALL ASPECS of their game. Not cry on x because they haven't hit podium in awhile.
