Worship Piano Player Stereotypes

- -So....
Worship teams are weird, right? Not weird bad just... weird, weird. Like quirky and with lots of idiosyncrasies.
In today's new video we decided to turn the gaze inward and reflect on all the unique, silly, and just plain weird worship keys player stereotypes that we've either personified ourselves or seen in others.
We're talking:
-Person who spends most of the service trying to drag the sustain pedal back towards them w/ their foot.
-Person who refuses to play anything other than 16th note arpeggios for the entire service.
-Person who really, really wants to raise their hands but can only do so for half a measure in between chord changes. You get the idea, right?
Anyways, it's fun to poke fun at ourselves. 😀
Watch the video and let us know if you see yourself in it, or if we missed a stereotype that should've been included!

Well done sir. I definitely got the giggles with that sustain pedal moving back to avoid you on it's own. Whole video was funny too.
It has a mind of its own.
Yep. Definitely a pedal chaser here... has anyone ever solved that problem??
@@duncanhazlewood8045I use a u-shaped metal mic stand base. The pedal fits right in and it doesn’t go anywhere!
OMGosh!!! I am dying lol. 😂 The foot pedal drift and the “We don’t need to play the tracks… I’ve got that all covered”
totally the opposite. play all the tracks, I'll pretend!! haha
The squeaky pedal is me! 😆😅
I feel called out for the pedal one🤣 and possibly the swayer😂
The pedal one is definitely me!!
me playing the keys while worshipping:
sustain pedal that wants to runaway from me:
why does it hate us so much? Maybe because we're always stomping on it 😂
So we are really much here 😂
I thought it only happened to me hahah
Oh my gosh! I’m guilty of the foot peddle and transpose for sure! Lol
Flannelgraph is at it again. Golden content.
Flannelgraph!
Hey, you just gestured to all of us!
Been playing on worship teams for 40yrs this year & am guilty of *almost all* of these ... but still laughed myself stupid!! Thanks for posting - gotta go & spray my pedal with WD40 before forget again ... !! 😆🎹✝️
Super funny video.
My favorite was the ninja roll on stage to pad the end of service.
….and the unsaid meme: REVERB EVERYTHING
such reverb. very holy spirit.
Great video, it’s just hilarious 😂 Sustain Pedal, working for hours to get THE perfect Piano Sound, playing lead lines over guitars… the list goes on, you got me 😃
Thoroughly enjoyed that video.
David, you have a wonderful sense of humor! Your 'tumble-in' at 3' !5" left me hysterical with laughter.
Weird, that tumble-in just left me w/ a sore back! 😂 - David
3:30 David you could have just used a clip of me from my live stream. Hit me in the feels bro #cantstopwontstop #jumpforJesus #imlessfatwheniplayworshipkeys
btw bro, you should do more comedy.. this is gold
Dude this is your BEST VIDEO…hilarious! I’ve seen all these types and I’m sure I’ve been some of these..the mic height and the pedal drifting away is so me!
Thanks for watching!
Had me rolling 😆 the run away pedal...spot on lol
This reminds me of the lists posted on FB that are like "Never have I ever..." or "Give yourself a point for each...". Out of a list of 45ish things, I give myself a 3.5. 🙋♂️ Anybody who's bought a song-specific patch from Sunday Sounds should obviously claim the one for being able to tell your worship leader that you're covering all of the keys tracks for that song. 😁
Song Specific Patch users definitely default into that stereotype 😂
almost lost me with the steinway superiority and then reeled me right back in with the importance of release samples
Well done. I've seen, and experienced many of these. I appreciate all your video content, some comic relief was a fun idea. I almost blew coffee out my nose.
Super funny. I would add a bit about playing the intro to a song on the (totally inappropriate sounding) patch from the previous song because you forgot to switch!
Definitely happens!
😂🤣😂 that’s a good one! 🤣😂🤣😂🤣
Haha You got me with the foot pedal jokes... and also I'm guilty for the transpose too hahaha
You got me on the shimmer part 💀 what patch is that!?
I love this... Like a "dude perfect" video! 😂
Way way too funny 😂, yep I'm dying as well 🤣, now how do we never be "that guy" 🤣? keep it cool 😎
OMG I am dying CRACKn' LAUGHn' GOD BLESS YOU, MAN!!!!
5:19 I WAS WAITING FOR THIS ONE! This is the story of my life. My entire life.
Oh my gosh I laughed so hard at this...the accuracy of it all tho 🤣🤣🤣
Just the drums.. while piano wails on the keys, bass has a solo, acoustic guitar starts finger picking.. electric guitar turns it all the way to 11. Oh that's not just me??? Few... that makes me feel so much better! Seriously an amazing video, caught all the right stereotypes. When all else fails, follow the arp!!
“I’ve been thinking about getting a keytar!” I feel attacked 😂
lol!
That was awesome! I think I covered many areas, specially the pedal part 😄. God bless U David.
3:48 hilarious, imagine if someone actually did that 😂 David great stuff bro, now we want part-2 😛
We dare you to do it 🙃
The ninja rol pad fade in was brilliant 😆. I do pad the end of the service, we use cues (point in sermon, determined in front). Rather not mention the keys player start as they can't sneak unseen on stage 😏.
Also the sliding pedal is so accurate! I always carry duct tape and 5x 20cm stick bands for cables to tape/tie everything down haha..
Very good and a little bit confronting content 😉, cant wait for more (2nd version).
LOL - you killed me with the squeaky damper pedal :)
Brilliant! I'm a pedal dragger, I ONLY stand up, I'll jump when I can and may hit wrong notes at the time, I like to get that 2 beat hand raise in worship in whenever I can, .... Brilliantly done!
:D sounds like this video was for you!
Those great nord sounds will be a great backup ahhahahahahhahahahahahah
Everyone knows they're the greatest MIDI controller manufacturer out there. That red varnish adds an extra bit of velocity responsiveness that's just unbelievable.
You should cover this video into shorts. It will gain way more traction quickly. Impressive video!!!
LOL that sustain pedal!!! It truly is possessed.
The pedal moving back is so relatable
Very funny, and only keyboard players will appreciate the funny side of each pun.... Hilarious
Too funny! I may have seen myself in a few of those.....especially about the Steinway! 🤣🤣🤣
I’ve had to start duck taping my pedal to the ground because I literally had to bend down and grab it from a meter in from of my keyboard one service
The struggle.
Hahaha the pedal slipping was hilarious because it was so me hahahaha
The Pedal though. I sear it just walks off sometimes🤣
That's me with the sliding foot pedal!
Real life.
“There’s a certain atmosphere here today that just won’t go away” 🤣🤣
Gotta remember to turn that pad off.
David needs a raise!
My problem now is:
1. I loved the video because I related to more than one stereotype. LOL
2. I loved the video and I want to make one similar. LOL
Thanks for watching!
I’m playing all the bass, you should play those parts 😂😂😂😂 the struggle is real, coming from a bass player
Definitely guilty of the squeaky foot pedal. Every keys player should have one (Lol)
I do :D
Every bit of this is right on the money!
scary accurate ! hilarious for sure -- but scary accurate!
3:50 what sound are you using? is it in the Ipad? I'm looking for a synth sound like that for a song.
Hahahaha!! man i cried from laughter at the pedal part drifting away, I relate to that so hard!!!!
Haha..... One of your best videos
“I’m ok in the in ears, if you could just put some more of me in the house, that’d be great” 😁🤣😂
We've all thought it. I just had the guts to say it 😭- David
Lol! 😂😂😂😂😂 that's me playing "Jump" lolz
This is hilariously accurate. I am the guy always moving the sustain pedal; with the pad glitching out and getting stuck on MainStage cuz my MacBook is old and can’t handle the patch I’m running 😂😂😂
Thanks for being real 😂
5:32 🤣 someone definitely pulled that pedal
Must've been the Holy Spirit telling us to leave some silence in the mix.
Hysterical! Needed a laugh 👊
Okay, but that shimmer pad was really nice. lol
I mean... shimmer is pretty awesome.
I laughed by far the hardest at “I actually only play in the key of E flat” 🤣🤣🤣
The holiest of keys.
Not @ me almost relating to all the stereotypes given here, but the "it's too hard of a key so I'll transpose it to less sharp or flat keys" stereotype is giving me so much flashbacks HAHAHA
The squeaky pedal killed me
you forgot the guy who must stick the m7b9b13 extensions to each chord
That guys is on a different level.
Why am I like half of these? 😂
Us too.
I'm the keytar one lol. I begged my church so almost a year. They still haven't let me synth shred since I got the keytar lol.
1:36 -- Every keyboard and guitar player thinks that he/she has a "magical" patch.
the transposing part... me all the time
Lol with the jump riff
I also have one of those running-away pedals at 5:30 XD
Strange how they seem to move on their own, right? :D
More videos like this please! So good haha
Thanks for watching! Did we miss any stereotypes?
@@SundaySounds the one who is used to playing gospel chords and now has to play simple CCM chords 😂
Then the pedal sliding out of reach 🤣
Van halen was the best! LOL....I include myself in most of these mistakes...poor of me....!
How did you get actual footage of me??
I didn't realize all worship pianists thought the same things 😃
Also, jumping while playing Wake is a requirement
Guilty as charged :)
Same.
literally me 1:19 my worship leader always changes the scale of the song and thats why i use transpose 😂
I feel attacked 😂
*hug*
it's okay, the first step is admitting you have a problem.
Ok these were spot on but… STEINWAY IS SUPERIOR AHA
LOL it’s true I own a Nord stage 3 88 key.Just for a midi controller haha but I do use the pianos from the Nord and feed them through Sunday keys along with the giant From NI!There awesome
Hey, that way you get some of the best of both worlds :)
I'm in a constant state of "thinking about getting a keytar"
Honestly... us too.
Footpedal Footsie!!!!
You got it. That's officially what it's called now.
That roll 😂
This was so funny!!!
haha, very funny and 100% accurate
I'm so guilty of some of those
Hahahahaha 😂😂😂 very good 😂😂😂
Pedal drift guy here, *sigh. Can't they make one with a spike that we can nail to the stage?
I want to know how many times you had to practice that epic dive roll into the playing position.
Too many times.
Love it.
So great!!!😆😆
Thanks for watching!
I like to get my 16" laptop with the music open it up on the piano. No one can see me. I wear all black... if they let me wear a black hoodie... they won't let me (yet), ultimately i would like to play from the green room...
hello I liked one sound in Logic Pro, can this sound be transferred to mainstage3?
Logic and MainStage share the same audio plugins so yes
im totally the pitch bend enthusiast 😂
is the layout gonna be different for SK2022 or the same as SK2021
We can't share all the details just yet :)
The best I’ve sen. :}
Where can I get that shimmer pad though!
Sunday Keys, w/ the shimmer modifier cranked to ten!
Very funny!!!
😂😂😂😂😂😂BROOOOOOOOOOO
Nailed it!
Just gonna use a $5000 Nord as a midi controller 🤣
Who gets a Nord to use as a midi controller?????
