Wow! Thank you so much for this tutorial! I managed to adapt it easily to my project and even have longer pauses on pages so that you could see the content and even read short snippets. All you need to do is: - duplicate the front page layer - remove all the keyframes except the first ones from the layer - move it to start just the first frame before that page is seen - end that layer as soon as it starts with the animation to flip. Thank you SO MUCH! This was a massive help!

It's the same project. I just added more pages. Did you activate the Draft 3D mode? If you want the pages to flip slower you have to move the keyframes further apart and move the comps with the pages further to the right.

Hey! Thanks for your job and great idea. I have question regarding these offsets which you make for each comp. These offsets where you led at position -0.3 / -0.2 How important are they? Because I currently have a 1-minute long video with 4 pages, 3 pages are switching perfectly for me, but the 3rd and 4th page are causing problems. He does not fully cover the page, and the front page looks out as the page closes. I have researched the information, but I can't find a solution, although the outcome is likely to be simple Thanks.
Hey! The position offsets are there to ensure the pages don’t overlap. 3D can be tricky in After Effects. If the front page looks out it means that it’s position is closer to the camera than the back page. It could also be the bend settings like if the front page bends differently from the back page. The lower the z value, the closer to the camera.
For some reason i kept getting many of some parts wrong. Im new to After effects and personally i wish you would have slowed down a little bit. I still couldn't get it in the end sadly.

I'm struggling even with the first part. As soon as I change the front comp to 3d and change the z position to 0,1 the comp vanishes entirely. Also, when I try to duplicate the back comp and replace with the front comp, it just adds the front comp on a new layer above the back comp. This seems like a great tutorial, but I wish you took more time to explain how to do each step!

Did you check if it is installed? Maybe there is an older version installed and you need to delete that. Usually cineware comes with After Effects. Maybe you need to deinstall After Effects and reinstall it.

first timer noob here created a comp named flip_animation, created 2 new comp named back and front but when i drag the ' back/ front ' comp to the time line cant see the color or r the anchor point to adjust
Hey! To see the anchor point of the comp you need to select the comp and if it's a 3D layer you see a red green and blue arrow. And a grey point in the centre. If you select the anchor point tool and drag the grey point in the centre you can move the anchor point. You can't change the colour of a comp. You need to go into the comp and change the colour of the solid inside the comp. Does that help?
thank u for this tutorial but i have a quick question. when i use draft 3d to look at the animation it looks fine but once i unclick draft 3d, my back pages disappear. Is there a way to fix that?
It could be a lot of reasons… Maybe the RAM of your computer is full. Do have a lot of other apps open at the same time? It also could help to empty the cache in the After Effects presets.
Hey, great tutorial. I only have a question for rendering it. When I render the composition, the pages change and start to 'hang' down. And I don't know what I did wrong. This happens also when I disengage 'Draft 3D mode'. How have you rendered it out?

Hey that's awesome! It probably has to do with the z position of the pages. The page that should be visible needs to be closer to the camera. Meaning it needs to have a lower z-value. If your front page has a z-value of -1 and your back page has a z-value of 0. Only the front page should be visible.

I managed to solve the issue by starting a new project from scratch, and I also had to install an earlier version of After Effects as AE2023 kept crashing with the 3D layers turned on. Is your column named "Layer Name" or "Source Name"? If you click on it it switches. Maybe that's the reason?

That seems like a pretty advanced project if you just got into After Effects. Those things are mostly done in 3D with Cinema 4D or Blender.

The Cinema 4D renderer comes with restrictions. Motion Blur doesn't work. I personally think Motion Blur doesn't look good anyway;)

You probably have turned on "Draft 3D" below the Preview window. If you turn it off it should be fine.

I have looked over the internet and it seems like its hardware related problem and many others with my spec had same issues. I cant access at all the draft3D option as I'm using a MacBook Pro 2015 2.2Ghz, Intel Iris 1500mb.
I guess I will be adding some kind of other shadow just to make it look more realistic.
hey! i just had the same problem. all you have to do is make your background a 3d layer as well.
Has anyone tried this and suddenly found their 3D layers are no longer visible when you leave 3D draft mode?
That's weird... Did you have a lot of other apps open at the same time?
@@ManueldoesMotion Not any Adobe apps, no. I managed to solve the issue by starting a new project from scratch, and I also had to install an earlier version of After Effects as AE2023 kept crashing with the 3D layers turned on. We'll just blame it on Adobe and their buggy software I guess...but great tutorial! :)

how you added images on page , you need to make full video for it
I added them to the precomps. Instead of adding solids you can add anything else.

Hi, how can i slow down the page flip ?
If you want to slow the page turn itself down, you would adjust the keyframes. Like leave more space between them.
