Man...Colin Greenwood. Doesn't get the limelight his brother Johnny does, but he's SUCH an exquisite, tasteful bassist. His playing here is absolutely gorgeous. It's a crowded room, and one could almost be forgiven for not noticing, but he's not only holding the whole thing together with what he's playing, he's punctuating and informing and daggering the rhythm when he's NOT playing. His use of space is just outta this world. A couple years ago a bass magazine had a profile of Colin titled "How to disappear completely". (A bit cheeky, but it gets something right.) Still, listen to Bloom, Feral, or Separator here. Then listen to In Rainbows LFTB. Hell, go way back and listen to Airbag and you'll get what I'm trying to say. He's lyrical, thumps like a bull, and I just want to give him some props.

Way ahead of its time. Tbh, I actually didn't like it much when it came out but only learnt to appreciate it years later and now I am literally addicted to it. A truly visionary band like almost no other.
Staircase gets me every time. Takes me back to a time and place every time. For that reason I steer away from this song till it randomly comes on and then I'm a moth drawn to flame. Every time. Sad, haunting and beautiful for that time in life. Heard and loved it in 2011 when it came out. However, June 3, 2016 that song took on a whole new meaning for me.
There are five bands that have genuinely moved me during my life. First, The Beatles ... obviously, then Pink Floyd, Rush, Genesis and Radiohead. These Live from the Basement sessions are so great. Thanks guys ... and Phil twice!
the sole reason that I want humanity to continue at all is so that we can continue to listen to thom (and he can keep making music) and we can continue to study radiohead as a source of pure divine musical talent.
Personally I prefer the studio version but this is a magnificent alternative with all the energy it packs. I like the studio version for how calming and magical it is.
I loved KoL when it came out, and the subsequent "expansion packs" supercollider and daily mail BUT if KoL had the same tracklist and rhythms of this live recording it would've been alot better. Thankfully we have this recording!
Usually when a band is this good, after they've played it live so many times, it's like the music grows. Like it has become more refined as they explore it more. Not many bands are this good though. At least not well known ones.
I remember when TKOL was released I was attending my first ever year of guitar lessons and my teacher (as he was learning me Karma Police) told me about the new album. That was the best Valentine's Day I ever lived unfortunately I wasn't able to understand that particular moment I was living
Repetitive drumming, calculated & driven. A brilliant approach in crafting these songs, expanding on the formula they created on their previous album In Rainbows.
I have goosebumps up my taint and asscrack. I distinctly remember having my mind blown in 2011 upon seeing this when they built the soundscape that is Bloom. I had no clue that they used guitars. It sounds like computers in a submarine cutting three the seas under the ice of Europa. In fact, if they make another movie about that, they should use Bloom for the ost
True story; I feel the same way when I’m really frightened by something. I thought I was the only person who ever felt this form of “goosebump flight or fight” experience. It happens from my taint all the way up to my head. Imagine the best chills you ever had and times them by 10. I suffer from sleep paralysis and sometimes when I wake up after an episode I feel this way. It’s horrifying but the feeling is almost equivalent to cumming. I am cumming day and night. It’s terrific right? So you know, I am in heaven.
Why is this album so overlooked and ignoreed? Experimental and yet appealing, rhythmic and yet reverberating, dadaist and yet meaningful, vigorous and yet reflective. Bringing together aspects that may seem contradictory. One of the best, if you ask me.
This sounds amazing, after listening to this TKOL is one of my favorite albums. Then I listen to Kid A from start to finish and take back what I said. Still love this performance though, got me through most of the current quarantine days.
Someone said to me "my favorite Radiohead song is whatever song I'm listening to at the moment" and that's never summed up how I feel about them better
"Staircase" has to be oficially released on their next LP, otherwise this will be considered the most ugly crime in music industry ever committed to conceal such a masterpiece from wider audiences
Oh man I remember when this aired on mtv2 when I was still in high school. I was randomly tripping on acid and this shit just hypnotized me. I remember Hallucinating Prints of Technicolor panda bears holding umbrellas while this played in the background. I haven't thought about that since I wss like 16, and hearing this again brought it all back....

He's the perfect counterbalance to Thom's vocals. Understated but fiercely direct and decisive.

Colin's bass in Bloom is soooo great
Agree... in my opnion it´s one of the best bass lines that i´ve ever heard.
IMO ¨'The King of Limbs' is the Radiohead album where Colin's bass shines through the most. I'm crazy about the bass on 'Feral' aswell.
This for me still one of the greatest radiohead albums
Yeah, one of the 9 greatest for sure...

This album is the definition of underrated.
Its either because the studio engineers droped the ball or radiohead just wanted to release the studio album before it should have been released.
