  • Have you ever wondered what the signal from the oxygen sensor of a catalytic converter looks like? In this video I use a battery powered o-scope to monitor the signal from a Bad catalytic converter, and compare the signal to a good catalytic converter! It is very interesting to see the difference. I also take a look inside a catalytic converter the I used for only a year, on a Toyota Prius. Very interesting stuff here!
    The scope that I used:

Deadondiagnostics channel does a good job detailing, though more specifically How to use A/F Control of Toyota/Lexus video on Vladimir Leshchenko channel details using Techstream, I though he had another video showing the details of an oxygen sensor current and voltage comparing the gen2 and gen3 Priuses and I'm not finding now. Let me check and see as I think I posted on Priuschat as well my observations when I swapped my AutoShack cat and Denso O2 sensor in. I still need to test my yard find Toyota Denso AF Ration sensors to see if any of those are good before investing in a new Denso. Neat video and wondering if bad connections and or noise or setup maybe since probes and clips can be a critical concern as well for reading signals?

The video I was thinking of is the video I referenced above my Mr. Leshchenko. For some reason I was thinking O2 sensors were shown too. I believe the O2 sensors are a narrower band reading compared to the wide band readings of the AF Ratio sensor. The Car Care Nut channel has a video detailing as well, though not as specifically with visuals of the metrics. Anyway, hope helps and save time.
