  • Great Northern beans are a very delicious and nutritious addition to your family meal plan. We especially like them, because they are a real food and they are gluten-free and low sodium.
Using the instapot to cook our beans has made our life so much simpler and healthier because now we cook beans a lot more often.
Great Northern beans are packed with vitamins and nutrients. They are high in fiber and protein, and even if cooked alone without a meat added they are very satisfying. Also without the ham it would be very low sodium.
    My simple list of ingredients:
    • 2 cups of Great Northern beans sorted and rinsed
    • 6 cups of water
    • 1/2 tablespoon minced garlic
    • 2 or 3 Tbl Dried chopped onion or fresh onion if preferred
    • 8 oz or more if preferred diced ham / optional
Cook in instant pot for 45 minutes and allow to release pressure naturally.
😉 And of course, serve with cornbread!
Thank you so much for visiting, I hope you stop in again soon ♥️ Please like and subscribe!

@@SunnyBunnyMeadow oh man I loved them beans. As a kid I used to put ketchup on them. Occasionally my folks would throw in a ham hock or bacon

When my mother would bake her beans when I was small, she used navy pee beans. When she would make bean soup, she would use great northern beans. She liked to eat her bowl of bean soup with a spoon of sugar and so do I.

Thanks for the idea. I love most cooked beans so maybe I'll try that next time. I wonder if white or brown sugar make a difference? Maybe I'll try both!!

She always used white sugar. But I imagine you could use brown if you like the taste

Must be a hillbilly soup there were no onions celery diced tomatoes a chicken base salt ,pepper added to it just a water garlic broth

Maybe it is a hillbilly soup, though I'm not sure what that even means! I've never heard of tomatoes or celery or onions in great northern beans. We have always cooked our beans to Perfection and eat them with ham (or without). Along with sweet cornbread. This is all about the beans honestly. It's very thick, not really a soup!
