New subscriber in So. Calif. Brings back memories of beans with cornbread my N.Y. city mom made for my Indiana farm boy dad 50 years ago. Thanks for your sweet video.

When my mother would bake her beans when I was small, she used navy pee beans. When she would make bean soup, she would use great northern beans. She liked to eat her bowl of bean soup with a spoon of sugar and so do I.
Thanks for the idea. I love most cooked beans so maybe I'll try that next time. I wonder if white or brown sugar make a difference? Maybe I'll try both!!
Maybe it is a hillbilly soup, though I'm not sure what that even means! I've never heard of tomatoes or celery or onions in great northern beans. We have always cooked our beans to Perfection and eat them with ham (or without). Along with sweet cornbread. This is all about the beans honestly. It's very thick, not really a soup!
They look fabulous.........thanks for sharing your recipe.
Thank you❤️

@@SunnyBunnyMeadow oh man I loved them beans. As a kid I used to put ketchup on them. Occasionally my folks would throw in a ham hock or bacon
