With the new Cervelo Soloist as a test bike, we set out to test Aerosensor's new aero sensor. The results are fascinating, even if a little predictable.
Now that you have this sorted out would love to see you swap that aero sensor back and forth between a few different bikes while maintaining a similar position to see how they compare. For example the SL7, Soloist and the new Propel.
Finally, REAL World Aero data. My biggest and no cost aero advantage has always been to sit in the pack or on someone else's wheel and wait, wait, wait. Basically spend pennies when everyone else is spending dimes.
I suppose the video title suggests that it might be about the new Cervelo, but it's not. Just a test mule for the experiment. I don't ride my bike in a wind tunnel, so outdoor testing like this (even w/o precise controls) are much more relatable. In fact it was good to see them replicate what I've noticed with deep wheels in real world riding. 6w savings on windy day 1 vs 12-15w on less windy day 2. But quite surprised from the 55w from the position+wheels. I really need to work on my position!
I just bought the new Soloist in Ultegra Di2. It's one if the best road bikes I've ever ridden. Glides smoothly over chatter, handles like a laser beam and is soooo fast and comfortable. Completely stoked with my purchase. Love to see these videos! Great job.
The bikes no different that any other brand or frame for same price points. Let's stop pretending these companies are making huge gains or changes.. Year in and year out.. They are not. Gimmick selling tactics people are falling for. Can't complain for di2 ultegra. Other than the fact they are screwing the people with price gouging because a lack of competition and patents. Enjoy the bike sure it rides well. But let's stop stroking these companies for no innovation and re-release of the same products.
@@BikesKomsCRO I'm sure you'd do much better than these companies if you were a manufacturer. I was riding a 13 year old Focus so I definitely notice the innovation. I'm definitely impressed. I'm not quite the pessimist you are but get what you're saying. I do belive companies have tried with new innovations like the Oltre or the Diverge STR or the Domane and people just bitch about it too. Nobody is ever happy.
@@normanderson01 14000£ for a higher end bike is a joke mate. Made in China frame rebranded as whatever you please. The groupsets have gone up along with the whole industry. Waiting on China to trickle down their new groupsets and frames. Best bang for buck. Dont get gouged like this. The prices are so inflated it's crazy. I won't stop complaining either, people need to know. China already destroyed the wheels games last 2 years, everything else next!
@@BikesKomsCRO yeah totally get it. Lucky for me money is no issue so I could give 2 F's. But for the rest of the world yeah, prices are pretty lame and there is a monopoly in the bike industry for sure.
@@normanderson01 I also have a around 5k ultegra mechincal bike. It's an investment into yourself. But once I started looking at the market, hambini reviews and the prices skyrocket its disheartening. Ltwoo are coming with a mechincal groupset with hydro breaks now out in Asia for 200£.. That goes for about 700£ for 105 option. Its monopolic practices I wish were checked. If you need some sick wheels check out hypers from Winspace. Have fun with the bike!!
I'm only 13% faster on a cool looking frame. But 20% with headphones, and 30% with the right chamois crème.

YES! I’d love to see that esp against new propel
Milion dollar question now would be: IS THIS AEROSENSOR FOR SALE?
fingers crossed it wouldn’t be another million dollars literally.
Yes, it's one of multiple aero sensors you can buy. $900ish
@@veganpotterthevegan thanks for replying a year later mate 😂
@@ariffau sorry I didn't watch this on your viewing schedule!

I was expecting the aero savings on the narrow handlebars to be higher. Which width did the original handlebars have?
The original bars were 42 C-C. I reckon we could have eeked out a few more watts by adapting the position some more to match the narrower bars
Everyday rich hipster CEO sons bike.
Great Video! Can you make a video explaining how the aero sensor works?
