Low G whistle: Give Me Your Hand / Rocking the Boat / Ramnee Ceilidh
Вставка
- Опубліковано 9 жов 2016
- Hi! When we performed in Kaiserslautern, Germany, a few months ago, we were treated awesomely, with a great hospitality. On top of that, Stefan, the concert organizer, gave PJ a low whistle in G! Amazing. It's a Chieftain old model and, although if you use a tuner you can see it's a bit flat, it sounds great. This is Tabhair dom do Lámh ("Give Me Your Hand"), a tune from the early 17th century by Ruaidri Dáll Ó Catháin (c.1570-c.1650), which we love and have played before, followed by a jig (Rocking the Boat, by Martin O'Connor) and a reel (Ramnee Ceilidh, by Gordon Duncan).

10 years?! Holy hell!!! I've been listening to you guys for a long time now.
You have NO idea how huge the smile on my face was when I saw this in my subscriptions list. You posted your previous version of Tabhair dom do Lámh around the same time I met my husband, and we've loved that video ever since; in fact, it's essentially become one of our "songs"! So it's brought us both so much joy to see you perform it again!
Awesome! :D
'give me your hand' absolutely brilliant. listened to it loads of times !
Excellent 👌 THANK YOU 🌟😀👍🏆💯
Una autentica joya! Agradecido por estar vivo y tener oído para escucharlo, son jodidamente buenos. Gracias :')
Awesome. Really jazzy.
very moving....thanks for keeping this amazing music alive.
The Lochaber Badger/Glass of Beer, touched my heart 10 years ago. You two were the first to spark my love for this type of music. I used to show my friends "jam session" and we were all blown away by you're shear talent. Thank you for this!
Guitar part is so grooooooovy. Love this tune as always, but the guitar really makes it special
Beautiful... Also, I must say, listening to your cd is like watching a good fantasy film, or reading an intriguing fantasy novel to me. It takes me to away to a different time or world if you like. It's nice to experience that without drugs. Love it.
Wow, your comment is so inspirational! Thanks!
Same man, i've done most of it. Listening to the penny whistle, low whistle and flute has brought me on lovely mental journeys, albeit after a few pints of the black stuff lol! I've fallen in love with whistles!
Listening to this while raining is so relaxing

💖
why are you only at 19k i have hears some of the big names play shit compared to you two fuck you are so good and you two play sooooo tight i often get my drum out and play along just please. please don't let ego get in between you two because you two have a magical sound together big fan from the UK
Wow! Enhorabona!!
Gràcies!
Great as always guys! What kind of recorder do you use? Any recommendations for someone planning to record some tunes?
Thanks! It's a Zoom H1. Recommendations... not really, I (PJ) have no idea about this. My brother JJ usually improves the sound a bit but that's it. But if you can't afford expensive microphones and home studios... the Zoom H1 is definitely the best cheap option, check out some reviews online.
Thank you! I was doubting exactly between that model and Tascam DR-05
Hmm... no idea, sorry...
I ALWAYS SAID THIS WOULD BE MY WEDDING SONG AND NOW I AM AFRAID TO GET MARRIED AGAIN ...LOL ... BUT I STILL LOVE THE SONG. HEY WOULD YOU MINE DOING A TUTORIAL ON THE WHISTLE FOR ME I WOULD LOVE TO LEARN TO PLAY THIS SONG IT LIFTS MY SPIRIT.
Try washing your whistle through hot water, clears up the whistle and sounds cleaner and less airy
Tom Power that's the problem with low g whistles that doesn't work too well for them
I like to think that Peter Pan played this for Captain Hook.
Me muero por saber en que afinación y que acordes son
Superb set! Do you enjoy playing low-wistle more than flute?
Thanks! Yes, so far I do, because I've never had a really good flute. Maybe this can change in the future.
Lovely playing what make is your whistle??
This is a really old Chieftain (even older than my main Chieftain). Thanks!
Where would i get the sheet music for this tune? And also, could this be played on a low d whistle? Love your music
Mark Buchanan on TheSession.org. And yes you can, of course.
TinWhistler that's great thank you so much
Gorgeous stuff guys! Where'd you get the jig and reel?
Thank you! Not sure right now but I'll look into it.
TinWhistler so no names of them?
TinWhistler I know the reel as ramnee ceilidh a Gordan Duncan tune I believe
That's right! And about the jig... hold on, let me check on Tunepal.
Rocking The Boat by Martin O’Connor.
Beautiful ... Is it a Kerry low G?
Mmm, no, it's a very old Chieftain.
@@TinWhistler thanks. Do you think the Thunderbird low G Can be a good whistle ? I search a Low G. Thanks
@@jimmymary5526 I don't know because I've never tried a Thunderbird. Goldies are probably the best low whistles ever, but they're expensive. From looking at this video, the Thunderbird sounds fine: ua-cam.com/video/h-sh0KzcO6w/v-deo.html
Good, good interpretation
The name of the jig and reel ?
regards
Juzen Wolf Rocking The Boat and Ramnee Ceilidh. :)
Thanks ..
I hope to get to play the whistle as you do
:')
Give me your hand is one of the nicest tunes ever written I think, maybe it'll get me a girlfriend some day 😛 lovely playing lads
Good to see you here Martin (I've seen you on the Tin Whistle resource page and have liked some of your posts and playing). These guys are amazing, love listening to them, and I agree about 'Give Me Your Hand', I come back to this regularly!
Go hálainn ar fad.
