@PK She was only a man temporarily. She had the female to male bottom surgery but it fell off. They show flashbacks to that time when they all visit Morocco.
One of the funniest scenes in the whole show and that’s saying something. When fake Edina walks down the stairs I die laughing every time “shit eddie!”
@@lizclegg7556 so many plays I've sat through plays would have been improved immensely if someone had shouted that out at rehearsal, preferably with the author and the person who decided to stage it present.
@@philbecker4676 I know (outside of the original sketch that it was based on), but that's a quintessential example of the intentional bad writing that was their trademark.
They did so AMAZING with this episode. These people were perfectly cast to impersonate the main characters!!! They're the best impersonators I've seen in a while. I just ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️ it too much. And it's a perfect satire of over-dramatic theatre. BRILLIANT show.
Saffy: *Writes a melancholic play detailing her most personal traumas at the hands of her neglectful, alcoholic mother and her mother's trainwreck of a best friend. All of us: *Wheezing with laughter 😂 This show really did some fantastic dark comedy, just brilliant!
I couldn’t agree more, Absolutely Fabulous handles dark humor so well!! It’s a shame Saunders won’t be renewing the series because damn this series is a gem!!
I wish this would come true. I'm an actor and this is the kind of comedy I would love to do...sadly sarcasm and cynicism at this level would be very unwelcomed it seems.
Such a talented ensemble with a terrific script! Bubble's expression @ 0:39 is priceless. This is the episode with the flashback where Patsy is dressed "Adam Ant"-style.
😂😂😂 masterfully done. I love how they take phrases from previous episodes into saffy’s script and show her perspective while still making a superb parody for the audience. This is comedy gold
I watched this episode last night and as Eddie remembers saffys childhood.. "Why didn't you take ME on any of yr holidays?? You never took me anywhere " Pats thinking then bursts out "Hey WE took you to THE PARK!!!!" Lmao Then a clip of young sad standing there as ed and pats are on the slide WITH of course bottle in one hand!! Music in background was "Prince charming don't you ever don't u ever lower yourself forgetting all yr standards " Adam and the ants. GOLD!! Too FUNNY!!
My god every line of this is hilarious! 😆 And yet for some reason there is an air of tragedy that for the audience it's just a funny OTT spoof, yet for Saffy, it is her exposing her deepest childhood and trauma's to the world. Still, she certainly got her own back here with "two stone overweight" and "a piece of flint". 🤣👌 Excellent writing (and casting) all round! haha
Whats even funnier, is that an American show 'Euphoria' has just done an episode like this. One of the supporting cast writes a play about her family. Hence the sound bite "Is this F***ing play about us?!"
June Whitfield usually had quite a few lines each time, but would tell Jennifer Saunders that it was a lot to remember and "Would it be alright if I just said this line?" And somehow she would usually pick the line that got the biggest laugh in the episode.
one of the times Saffy really put her point across with Eddie and Patsy that they're abusing her to much. not only that but other things they have done around her life. really got to them and actually liked the play. because they learned something and it's speaks the truth on what they have been saying to her out of all those years. after that ep both eddie and patsy actually ease down with there crap with her a bit. it really shows they toke that play by heart. but already know the damage was already done.
No matter what my mood, I can watch this season and just get lost in it. Meta before meta was everywhere, the play though was the pinnacle! The "I knew it was a comedy, go for it kids!" line gets me freshly each time. 😂
The late june Whitfield playing Eddies mother was inspired casting. Wasn't a huge a fan of ab fab. I know that not everyone was a fan bubble played by the great Jane horrocks. But she very funny in those episodes. But the scene and it was the only scene that made me piss myself was the scene where Eddie comes In looking for her femidoms. Cut to June Whitfield put them on thinking they are a new pair rubber gloves, is hysterically funny
Gotta love how charmed Patsy is with the guy playing her.
"I'm good, Eddie!"
It's funnier when they invite the actors out for drinks and patsy realised it was a man playing her
@PK Supposes Amanda lear the story goes ..
@PK But when they're high school age she's a girl. ?
@PK She was only a man temporarily. She had the female to male bottom surgery but it fell off. They show flashbacks to that time when they all visit Morocco.
i love how from Saffy's perspective, it;s a heart rendering story of an absent alcoholic mother. from the audience view, it's a parody
Well it is called 'Self-raising flour' innit
@@enthusedtosing9655 Flower.
Lard arse cow!
Rendering? It's cooking down her heart until the fat and connective tissues liquify? Or did you mean heart RENDING?
kind of mean
One of the funniest scenes in the whole show and that’s saying something. When fake Edina walks down the stairs I die laughing every time “shit eddie!”
I love how at the end of this episode Eddy gives Saffy a kitten ...
One of very few really heart touching moments between the two.
I like the episode where Eddie punches Saffy's boyfriend who was married and hadn't told her. Eddie knocked him on his arse! 🤣🤣
@@wickedwitchoftheeast88 He wasn't her boyfriend.
Was her professor (who was married with kids)
"This is the story of a self-raising flower"

"this is a story of a self-raising flower" 😂😂😂😂😂 Jennifer and Dawn are so good at really bad writing 😍😍
Dawn didn't have anything to do with Ab Fab.

R.I.P June Whitfield you will be missed loved you in Ab Fab ❤️❤️❤️
Jennifer Saunders is a genius.
I always thought the girl who played Saffie was so beautiful....
It's Emma Pierson
@@cirsiumc I meant the one in the play. Yes, Julia Sawalha played Saffy in the programme.
How’d they manage to cast a girl who looks exactly like Saffie only more beautiful?
I agree!
I agree with you.
Stage Eddie walks on. Patsy: "Oh shit."
I love how the play ended with the popping of a champagne cork 😂😂😂

The way the Eddie character walked down the stairs towards tne beginning is 100% spot on.
Patsy being played by a man was funny and seeing how proud she was, was even more funny.
Patsy thought he was a woman.
‘Tits are bigger than mine but otherwise Eddie she’s fantastic’ 😂😂😂😂
Patsy was a man for a while. It just fell off.
The way she says "shit eddie" and looks at her like that sends me
100% I could replay that scene again and again
That “oh, shut up” is the kind of line Patsy would have delivered in the first two seasons
Later in the ep: "Don't show the kitten to Pats darling. She might get jealous like the la....... just might get jealous".
I was going to say the exact same thing! 😂
Eddie: *"Is this f***ing play about US?"*
How Patsy goes “Shit.” At Eddie first coming down the stairs.
THIS is ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS!

That’s probably how Christina Crawford felt after ‘Mommy Dearest” hit theaters.

Saffy is the original Meg Griffin
Than Edina must be the original Peter Griffin
ArtificialSoul ... that would make Patsy Quagmire then
Norru too right you. your right
STILL BRILLIANT and hilarious after all these years!!
Absolutely hilarious! How did I miss this? Bubbles' reaction towards Eddie is priceless!
Gran is almost completely oblivious.. it reminds me of home dear!
Eddie stumbling down the audience to embrace her actor at the end, Saff burying her face in her hand.
We need more comedy shows like Ab Fab these days to laugh more and be able to enjoy life more..
I wish this would come true. I'm an actor and this is the kind of comedy I would love to do...sadly sarcasm and cynicism at this level would be very unwelcomed it seems.
The wokes won't have it.
This kind of show couldn’t be made today
Love the bit at 1:50. You can see the genuine laughter from the actors in the audience watching the play.

i'm so sad they cut that part!
Patsy: Oh! I'm good Eddie!
Patsy being played by a man is a nice touch. Also I like how Patsy got into her portrayal.
Back then I wanted so much to be like Edina, able to slag off but somehow still make a living. Hell, I'd love that now.
Bubble is such a clown i adore her.I want a PA like her .
"I GAVE YOU THE HAMSTER....." !!!! One of the Funniest Scenes from #AbFab EVER !!!!!

Patsy looked genuinely sad about whatever happened to Saffy's kitten.

This episode (not this scene) contained the darkest moment in Ab Fab ever
This show was the best. There were so many awesome Britcoms back in the 1990's. What happened?
