I love Whiteout so much as a character, and this totally makes sense to me! We haven't had a case of a dragon that couldn't control animus powers very well, and it would be fitting for it to be Whiteout since she's supposed to be nuerodivergent, and the powers are tied to you and your brain.

If Darkstalker had helped Whiteout hatch the same day he did, they implied she would have adopted the same gifts as he… including animus powers. It’s a subtle hint, and I may be incorrect, but I am nearly certain that it is what was supposed to be implied.
Animus powers are purely genetic, not influenced by the moons. By not helping her hatch he stopped her from getting mind reading and prophetic powers, but had she been an animus, she would’ve been regardless of the moons. If the moons had anything to do with animus powers, then the other tribes couldn’t have animus dragons, and Stonemover wouldn’t have his powers either.

She does speak in weird prophecies and describes what others are thinking. My headcanon is that she has weaker ones since she didn’t hatch until a bit later and wasn’t directly under the moons like Darkstalker.
Whiteout actually could have visions, remember "the hole is too big, were going to fall in forever, only one of us will, depending on who loses the future" she was talking about how darkstalker got trapped in the hole, which was supposed to be forever.
I headcanon that the three full moons did have somewhat of an effect on her, but since she didn’t hatch that night the powers never got to fully flourish like Darkstalker’s did. She could probably also sense dragons thoughts and emotions as well, considering she told Darkstalker that there was a “line of ice” going from his head to his heart when their parents were fighting in the first few chapters. So she probably did get a little of the three full moons powers, but not all of it since she didn’t hatch under them.
I JUST REALIZED SOMETHING. Whiteout removed Clearsight's powers, and Darkstalker doesn't have animus powers in this "What If..?", so Clearsight never would have attempted to find Pantala. Which means, I'm pretty sure Silkwings would still be in the Poison Jungle and I'm fairly positive that would cause *them* and the Leafwings to be in power rather than the Hivewings.
I love this idea so much! Whiteout being an animus would be pretty interesting, and she has a very nice personality. This art is super cute! I love how you draw whiteout, and her wings are gorgeous.

OK, I can totally believe her enchanting the school to grow flowers year round and everyone being confused about it. That is so Whiteout and god its just adorable. The one detail I found a little odd though, it took them Three years to contact Fathom after Whiteout removed Clearsights powers? That's the point were you really start losing your soul, when you believe its OK to modify another living thinking being without their permission. Even if its for good intentions, cuz well... that's exactly what lead Darkstalker off the light path, and in three years a *lot* more would start happening. God I want to see Turtle and Whiteout talk now... I don't think the world would be ready for such wholesomeness and adorableness to meet. Atleast Indigo won't get cursed out of existence. I hope. Also, I gotta say. Poor BeetleWings and LeafWings... that storm is not gonna be pleasant.

I really like this twist, with Darkstalker, his SUPPORTIVE parents and Clearsight being focused on Whiteout. Also getting Ariana Dumbledore vibes; moving away, not talking to many dragons. Love it, keep up the good work
Imagine she did go insane though. Her synesthesia might even make her more dangerous than darkstalker. especially if arctic acted the way he did canonically, she might resent him like darkstalker did. It would be an interesting role switch.

I actually just finished reading Darkstalker just before this came out, and I have to say, other than Indigo, Whiteout is my favorite character, she so sweet and caring, and giving her powers would be a super cool add - on to her character, because I know she would use her powers way better than Darkstalker did.

Removing clearsights power honestly makes sense it balanced the scales AND it helps. Clearsight didn’t need them in this AU because Arctic is actually a good dad lmao
I actually have a really stupid theory about whiteout: I think she secretly had the power of future-seeing all along, or at least a version of it. That could explain how she knew how Darkstalker was going to fail, hence the line, "The sand is falling." Maybe her way of future sight told her about the future in a less literal way, showing her symbols, like an hourglass or something. For example, maybe all her paintings of nightwings and icewings flying together were Moon and Winter actually working together to save Hailstorm. Either that or she is really just awesome and nothing more.
I thought prophetic powers only go to hundreds of years, like clear sight, even though her powers were very good, her book of prophecies only lasted to hundreds of years after her death, so the paintings of nightwings and icewings flying together that could be moon and winter wouldn’t be possible
The fun fact to end all fun facts: In The Dangerous Gift (14), Jerboa's exact words to stop animus magic were: "[...]When I shatter it, I shatter the power of all CURRENT animus dragons. From now on, no new spells cast by any animus dragon ALIVE TODAY will ever work again." That means if Anemone, Jerboa, Turtle or Stonemover have dragonets (or anyone else in their bloodline), animus magic will pass down and the new animus could cast spells. (Arc 4 anyone?)
wow so good!! Whiteout is one of my favorite characters including her and Moon. She definitely deserves her own book like a winglet or a legend. I love how you draw her its beautiful! I love the stars on her wings they are amazing!

Something I've noticed in Wings of Fire is that animus dragons almost always use their powers to help themselves, like Darkstalker and Fathom use it to flirt with their girlfriend but that still really benefited themselves more than anyone else. But Whiteout only really uses her powers to help others even if they don't realize it. For example, Clearsight is MUCH better off without constantly being bombarded by a million visions all at once but that's just my opinion.
I love this so much! After reading the legends of Darkstalker I kept coming up with different stories like this and I'm so happy I'm not the only person who does this! ^_^

What if Indigo never broke the animus touched goblet? What if Moon loved Winter instead of Qibli? What if Oasis was never killed? I love your vids!

But I absolutely love this.This is a far more Happy future where Darkstalker and Clearsight get to have a really happy and loving relationship. This is super cool! But I think there is a line in the book that says the Whiteout would join Darkstalker in his conquest for power if she hatched on the same night. This might mean that hatching on a different night would make Whiteout normal.
I would have three ideas, what you could make for your next video (only if you want of cause): 1. drawing evil main characters 2. what-if evil Glory, based on LampP0st's Evil Glory AU, cause it's good, but it misses some important stuff 3. RainWing face-expressions with respective body-colour (This will be reposted until you think about it or tell me to shut up 😁) (okay, it slowly becomes a bit much)

I haven’t seen the video yet but here’s my inference: When Arctic was giving animus tests to his children, Whiteout would also want to hide her magic like her brother DarkStalker…. I have nothing else so bye! Hope you like my inference, I’ll watch the video soon and see if I was right!
She apparently had all the powers of darkstalker, including animus magic (she also, interestingly passed the animus gene onto her descendant/) but her powers are severely repressed- the prophecy and telepathy by her late hatching and the animus magic by something else left unsaid

Yo! Very epic story, not gonna lie. Also, great drawing, as usual. I also have a few ideas: WHAT IF: Clearsight never found the Lost Contenteint. WHAT IF: Queen Wasp and the other mind/cottonmouth somehow met Darkstalker. WHAT IF: Anemone killed Queen Coral.
Day 5 (?) of asking for this idea: What if starflight and/or sunny hatched under the three moons? (Since the moons give the nightwings their power and sunny is part nightwing so maybe it would effect her in some way along with starflight)
0:07 darkstalker's animus was by chance, but since it takes a year for the eggs to hatch, good chance he and whiteout were planned for under the 2 moons and it was just by chance whiteout didn't also hatch that night. Also love this concept and love the what ifs❤️❤️

I can't believe I didn't make a comment whenever I saw this video.Come out or maybe I did on UA-cam just deleted it. But I absolutely love this.This is a far more Happy future where Darkstalker and Clearsight get to have a really happy and loving relationship. Which I absolutely love because they're my favorite ship and Darkstalker is my favorite dragon and I very much prefer him as a good dragon. And I love white out doing these cute things. And the whole family seems happier and better with Arctic being a much better father. Love this what if. And fanfictions like it. This is probably my favorite what-if video you've done.
I love this not just because I connect with whiteout but I love that you put into play that she would think she was helping clearsight and others

That was awesome love it. I would always wonder if articslayer was role reversed, like princess (Animus) foeslayer and rulebreaker artic stay in the ice kingdom and would whiteout and foeslayer be fighting all the time while artic and darkstalker have a father and son relationship.

Wow this drawing is AMAZING!!! I love it ❤️!!! I definitely think that whiteout would turn out to be a much better Animus than darkstalker even though she kept on having accidents with her powers. Also this is just a funny coincidence that just yesterday I finished reading the darkstalker book!
This is super cool! But I think there is a line in the book that says the Whiteout would join Darkstalker in his conquest for power if she hatched on the same night. This might mean that hatching on a different night would make Whiteout normal.

Tbh, I’m actually pretty sure whiteout WAS an animus, but because of her state of mind she never actually knew
I haven’t seen the video yet but here’s my inference: When Arctic was giving animus tests to his children, Whiteout would also want to hide her magic like her brother DarkStalker…. I have nothing else so bye! Hope you like my inference, I’ll watch the video soon and see if I was right!

She apparently had all the powers of darkstalker, including animus magic (she also, interestingly passed the animus gene onto her descendant/) but her powers are severely repressed- the prophecy and telepathy by her late hatching and the animus magic by something else left unsaid

Man just the immense amount of changes to the entirety of the wof stories by just one change. I wonder how we could link up everything from this one change. I also wonder what would have happened if both of them and not just one were born with animus magic. Which is what I thought the video was going to be at first from the title lol.

WHAT IF: Queen Wasp and the other mind/cottonmouth somehow met Darkstalker.

0:07 darkstalker's animus was by chance, but since it takes a year for the eggs to hatch, good chance he and whiteout were planned for under the 2 moons and it was just by chance whiteout didn't also hatch that night. Also love this concept and love the what ifs❤️❤️
