Used to be back in the seventies on seagoing longtails But, manhandling a cast iron SBC mounted on a ball joint in a rough sea must have been a daunting venture, especially for a 150lb Thai
You can run a diesel motor on used motor oil,cooking oil,kerosene,etc. The only reason diesel is expensive is because they are not done selling us gasoline motors that wear out amd need replacing
Water and ignition leads do not mix well and considering these engines are very exposed to the conditions im not surprised they are using mostly diesel also not sure how accessible and costly a ls engine is over there 🤷
And most of the attention is on the on road vehicles and just the last few years on agricultural and construction equipment as they are usually the highest hour operated off road diesel engines but there is no monitoring or requirements for off road applications such as this in the US. There should be and likely will be at some point but that is not the current regulations
There is no too much HP or km/h till you enter a wooden boat and you realize at full speed that you don't know if the boat survives the next impact on the wave/water xD
