- According to exit polling, the left-of-center Labour Party is headed for a big win in the United Kingdom's first general election since 2019, setting up Keir Starmer as the U.K.'s next prime minister. Labour's return to power after 14 years bucks a trend, as the far right rises in Europe, Britons are turning to the left. Elizabeth Palmer reports from London.

WOW! Times they are a-changing, huh? Well, I live in America, so I can't say if one way is better than the other, but it's the people who speak. I hope it works out for the UK and that better times for them are ahead.
Congratulations 🎊 so glad you got rid of the idiots!
Hmm. I wouldn't say Britain is 'turning left' as she stated, we're just sick of the tories and a Labour vote was the safest bet to get them out.
Also Labour are more of a centrist party nowadays.
Well, once they got rid of Jeremy Corbon they became centrist.
@@imixmuan9081
True.
I agree with you.Thanks.
More like center left
@@imixmuan9081wrong, they became war mongers reminded me of Tony Blair and keir is exactly like him.
The UK is going to learn the same thing that Americans are learning. You can’t just recover from Covid and act like nothing happened. We were all warned what printing so much money would do to prices and the cost of living. No party can fix this. Only time
The real problem was ten years of manic Tory austerity gutting the public sector (including the military), the shambles of Brexit, then Bonkers Boris running around like a complete lunatic during a global pandemic. Labour needs to invest in Britain, try to get back into Europe if not the EU, rebuild the military and prepare the nation for the almost certain war on the continent with Russia.
the US has cut inflation better than any other country. Its corporate greed, being masked as inflation here in the US. Only congress can do anything about it, and with Republicans controlling the house and not enough Democrats to fully control the senate, good luck
Maybe, but many of the UKs problems were deep seated even before Covid, not least the massive wasteful borrowing of the Conservatives after the 2010 election, they’d already more than doubled the UKs national debt in the 9 years leading up to Covid, the collapse of our healthcare system which was the result of deliberate under investment year on year which saw waiting lists for non urgent procedures, double before Covid, then double again after it. Brexit has wiped about 4-6% off our national GDP and all this time the Government itself has basically blocked almost vital investment in infrastructure spending from both the public and private sector, they’ve been the most anti growth Government probably in history. It seems strange to have a centre left party come to power promising a bonfire of red tape but that’s just what Labour have done, and have already seen through on some promises like granting permission to the construction of houses, new data centres and removed the 9 year ban on any onshore wind power projects in England.
Congratulations Labour! 🎉🎉🎉🎉
If sunak and his people are out thats good. Hopefully his replacements will live up to what the uk needs
and it will be even worse.
Congrats!
Lmao Britten about to find out the hard way
Eff around and find out, Brits. Don't ask the U.S. to save you.
They already did with Brexit
They found out the hard way with 14 years of Conservative Party rule.
ITS BRITAIN 😂😂😂😂
Yeah they did with over a decade of conservative rule.
Congratulations! 🙌🏼🍾🎉👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Lmao
Great job Britten , you put your self under more problematic situation !
My understanding that their party's over there ain't the same at the Democratic party over here that therefore more moderate and closer to the right. What I have always been told as I've done shared another comment this is what is always been talked to me for the US media for the years and other people who have visited Great Britain know I don't understand what it means what is considered liberal here is considered conservatism in Great Britain and what is considered conservatism here is considered to the left in Great Britain. I don't know what in the world that is supposed to mean and what did I even looks like.
Congratulations ❤🎉🎉🎉🍾🥂🇬🇧🏆🏆🎈🌹🎉🎉🥰👏👏🙏❤️🙏
Keir is the new PM. He's already met with King Charles.
I wonder when America can do the same, especially in CA....
Lol you want more left leaning policies??
I wonder when MAGAts and Trump will end.
This dosen't mean what people think it does...😂 It's the same as Trump supporters winning in the U.S. They are not far right or left. Their conservative party is what we would call RINOS.
Voting for trump, is voting against Democracy.
Ironic.
She has a cocky attitude for a reporter. Figures she's a Liberal.

The UK going the OPPOSITE way of the USA. Sad for them. 😂
What I always heard that over in Great Britain conservatism in Great Britain is the opposite the entire in the United States and liberalism over there is what conservatism is of a hair don't know if that's true but that's what I've always heard. So if that's true that actually going forward to the right it just dare version. Is backwards has been how it's always been explained to me it's backwards so a lot of times when you try to explain it we get tongue twisted and confused. Again I don't know this is true that's just what I've heard a lot of people say for the years in the US media that what is liberal in the UK means the opposite of what is liberal in the United States in the same with conservatism.
I doubt you know much or anything about British politics. Stay focus on NASCAR and the Maga cult. The UK citizens know how to pick members of Parliament without far-right foreigners pretending to be experts on UK politics.
Thats what they get
Good?

The world is going to Hell in a handbasket.
You couldn't have managed for very long with living in the 19th century. The disease alone would have felt like hell to you. 😅
Hurray for Labour...
Wow, i will pray for you all. Tough times.
Religious people pray. The rest of us think and do something. The two are not the same.
Get ready to become Muslim U.K
I bet you support Trump the king.
Yeah no, not even close. Modern Labour is centrist.

Horrible News.
Reform UK should have won.
Wouldn't of been possible due to the voting system we have, maybe in 2029
@@lewis571 I think they are the only hope to save the UK as we know it. Change is inevitable. But it’s ok to be proud to be British and of your forefathers. I just couldn’t stand Corbyn.

why does not these guys take time thinking how to innovation or develop science instead of voting

BIDEN NEEDS TO WIN, AI IS HERE
Were you dropped on your head as a child?
The only place in the world where people want more of the far left. Thank goodness for the 4th of July.
Labour is not the far left lmfao
Labour WAS far left under Jeremy Corbyn and they failed dismally.
Now they are a centrist party and just won a landslide election.
So maybe a bit of balance is all people were voting for.
