I know this seems like a no brainer for everyone local, but sometimes people coming to your city have travel anxiety and really appreciate a helpful video like this so they can know exactly what to expect when traveling to a place that's unknown to them. This is so great, comprehensive, and I am glad you made this video. Why would anyone pay for a shuttle or taxi when it's this easy to take public transportation? Thank you so much!
I was looking for a visual step by step video on UA-cam for navigating to the TRAX green line Airport station at Salt Lake City International Airport. I found this video and I am happy that you uploaded it. It will make my travel to SLC much easier. Thank you.
This was so nice of you to do for everyone Lynn! Your video was extremely well done and classy! I know many people will helped by this! And we all appreciate you & Richard!! Have a Blast at convention!
Awesome video! When I´ve visited SLC 2 years ago, I didn´t know wich train I should take to go from the airport to the Downtown, now this information is very useful for my next trip. Thank you and greetings from Mexico!
Fantastic video, going be a big help for me as I'm planning a trip to utah next year starting at St george then flying into salt lake , I will defo use the trax as om looking at the plaza Hotel at temple to stay , thsnk you ✌️🇬🇧
This is pretty cool. If you ever update this video or append to it, it may be good to add a point on downloading the UTA app to buy your ticket through the app. It's easy and helpful as sometimes those ticket kiosks are out of order. I had a colleague come to SLC from India and he said of all the cities he traveled to in the US, getting from the airport to his hotel (Sandy) by public transport was the easiest!
Lynn, great video and it was so helpful. I'm flying to SLC tomorrow morning and this looks so easy. I was going to rent a car but now I'm just going to use the train. Thank you for taking the time to create this video. :)
Great video. Now I'm assuming that if I buy a ticket from the machines, I can just use that same ticket to transfer from say a green train to a blue or red one if needed. An additional question I would have is how do I pay or buy a ticket if I need to take a Trax and then connect with a ski bus? Would I have to pay separate fares?
I thought I answered this. Sorry, but I don't know the answer. Maybe somebody else will come along, or you can check the Trax website - www.rideuta.com/Services/TRAX
Lynn, thank you for doing this. I plan on coming to SLC to audition for the Symphony in February. Can you do a video about transportation to Abravanel Hall? Thanks
That was very helpful! Thank you so much!!! So, if I have one big suitcase, can I carry it on to the train with me? If so, is there somewhere to put it or is it obvious when I get on the train?
I have such travel anxiety even though I love doing this! I'm travelling on my own for the first time to slc in June and this was so visually helpful thank you! Could you tell me if I need to take a taxi or can just walk to 52w 200s?
Hi Mary. Yes, there are taxis you can get right from the airport. There is also a train called Frontrunner that goes to Provo from downtown. You can find more info at rideuta.com. Good luck.
Hello Mrs. Huber, I would like to thank you for helping too many people, expecting nothing in return. You are a great lady. I have a question, are there any good and safe taxis at the SLC airport to travel to American Fork and Provo?. I may travel the next month and I would like to hear from you soon. Thanks :)
Hello Lynn! I'll go to USA this summer and I will have a six hours stop in Salt Lake City. I have done some research about transportation from airport to downtown and it seems this way is the best one. I want to ask you something: This UTA TRAX green line has a route back from temple square to airport?
Thank you for posting this! My son is going to attend the U, but I was worried about taking Trax to get to campus. Can you always pay at a station for your trip? I will only be there for a few days and once he gets his student ID card, I believe he can ride for free.Is that true? Thanks!
U of U students ride Trax free. Your son will get a Student ID and that is also your free pass. There are "Tap On, Tap Off" at each station. He has to make sure he "Taps On" before he gets on the train, and "Taps Off" when he gets off the train. All you do is tap your card on this little thing that says, "Tap On Tap Off". It beeps when it reads your card. You can get an ear full if a UTA copper checks your card on the train and you are not "Tapped On".
If you have a hive pass, student ID, or farepay, there’s a little electronic pass reader you just tap your card on and it beeps. When it beeps it means you’ve “tapped on” make sure you tap off after you get off or else you’ll get charged extra, just tap your card on the pass reader again and it’ll beep, and you’ve tapped off.
What was UTA thinking when they decided to run the airport TRAX line between Salt Lake International and West Valley City? It literally takes you from one crappy neighborhood to the next, and only runs till 10:30 at night. Not to mention the train cars are very cramped, there's no overhead storage bins for luggage, and no place to put your laptop, no free WiFi, no charging stations, no nothing!
+Kevin Kirkham I've only lived in the Salt Lake area for the past 25 years now, so I think I know what I'm talking about. West Valley's a shithole. I feel so bad for the people whose flights come in really late at night that have to take a Taxi or Uber home.
+JMMT7022801 people in west valley need some way to get from SLC to west valley... Although I agree west valley IS a pretty crappy neighborhood, UTA shouldn't drastically modify their trains for millions of dollars for the sake of people coming from the airport. However, wifi on light rail would be nice

I love that the Light Rail station is physically AT the airport......this is how Portland, Oregon does it and it's great! Good job, SLC!
Thanks for watching! ❤

I'll travel to SLC next week. Thank you for posting this helpful video

Yours is the best video for getting from the SLC Airport to Temple Square. Thanks so much!
Awesome Lynn, thank you for putting this together. I'm looking forward to next week and seeing everyone again. You are an Eagle.

+Luis G. Mendoza Thank you!
I am a visual learner, so this video is great! Thank you very much. Will be taking the Green line to transfer to FrontRunner.

You are wonderful for making this. Thanks!
Cheers Lynn, always super helpful to see this sort of video when flying into a strange city, I'm flying in from New Zealand later in the year
Welcome to Salt Lake City when you come later in the year! Glad you found it helpful.
Thank you so much for making this video. I'm going to SLC this December. I will be taking the train to downtown in stead of taking Taxi.
Lynn, thank you soooo much for this little video. This is my first time to convention. It's nice to know what to expect. See you soon!
You're welcome! Thanks for your kind words.

Thanks so much. Great information.
Great video! Thanks for explaining how to get to SLC on the light rail!
Thank you! I will be arriving in SLC in three days and you have helped me feel prepared!
Pushkara, thanks. That was sweet!

Thanks Chris. Glad you found it helpful.
Thanks !!!! helps!!!
Exelente, gracias!
Well done and very helpful!
Thank you
I love public transit.

Thanks Laura. Yes, you would carry it on the train with you. So be sure it's something that's not too heavy and that you can handle on your own.
Thank You so much. easy peasy.
@Minor there are lots of busses - all over the city. Just not at the airport.
I have such travel anxiety even though I love doing this! I'm travelling on my own for the first time to slc in June and this was so visually helpful thank you! Could you tell me if I need to take a taxi or can just walk to 52w 200s?
You can walk. It's only about 2 blocks. Get off on the Temple Square Station (about West Temple). Good luck!
thank you very much! i'll try to keep that in mind.

Hello Lynn, thank you so much for this very reassuring video. Is it OK to bring a suitcase on TRAX?
Diane Kipp yes, it's totally ok to bring your luggage. 😊
Thank you!!! :)
very nice
Is trax 24/7 train system? Or does it only run on certain times and days? It would be ideal if it were 24/7
I don't think it's 24/7. Here's a link to the schedule - www.rideuta.com/Rider-Tools/Schedules-and-Maps

Yes it is. here is a link with more information - www.slcairport.com/parking-and-transportation/public-transportation/ Have a wonderful trip!
Thanks so much Mrs. Huber, I will find more info at the webpage you gave me.
Hi, I want to take the bus to get down to Provo from the airport. What steps should I follow?
Sorry, I don't know the answer to that. Maybe someone else will come along with the answer. Good luck.
Go to www.rideuta.com There is a trip planner there that has all the info you'll ever need.
get on trax green line and get off at the north temple viaduct. transfer to frontrunner south. that's it.
Thank you for posting this! My son is going to attend the U, but I was worried about taking Trax to get to campus. Can you always pay at a station for your trip? I will only be there for a few days and once he gets his student ID card, I believe he can ride for free.Is that true? Thanks!
Yes, there is a place to purchase tickets at each train stop. Sorry, I don't know about the student price. You'll want to check that. Enjoy your trip.

When it beeps it means you’ve “tapped on” make sure you tap off after you get off or else you’ll get charged extra, just tap your card on the pass reader again and it’ll beep, and you’ve tapped off.

Um, it goes to downtown and the fairgrounds. Not just straight to West Valley
Thanks for doing literally no research whatsoever
