  • Six Tibetan Buddhist monks are studying science at Emory University. It's part of the Emory-Tibet Science Initiative, which is infusing science into monastic education. Take a look inside the life of a Tibetan monk while he's in college.

    This is very interesting and comes from the Dalai Lama's recognition that some areas of the Western world are more advanced than the East.

    I don't agree "monks studying science". They should study,more buddha dharma and meditate and achieve enlightenment. That's how monks should be..... my opinion..

      Tom Kath that's early age Buddhist now we have to adapt with time that we have to know science and we as a Buddhist believe it will only make our faith stronger since we believe Buddhist teaching is all about fact !

      Hi Tom, Spirit and Science are BEcoming One Rhythm...I personally feel that the Tibetan Monks at Emery are the perfect solution(for them and humanity together) to help the expediting of this process that is changing the world and the way we think and live, imho : )

      Tibetan monk typical study includes the inner world of "mind" and we neglected the outer world. No wonder Chinese invading soldiers came to Tibet we Tibetans didn't know until they kicked on our butt.
      Since Tibetan live in this world we should study and the outer world or else risked becoming extinct.
