You have lovely smooth looking free flowing roads it seems Walter, the camera work is rock steady and clear with it at my end, thats great footage in my book. Thanks for the ride Walter :-)
Thanks for the ride a long Mr. Walter. I lived there in 1994 while I was going to Gupton Jones College of Mortuary Science. (Funeral School) I actually lived in Buford to the North East, but drove down there every day of the week. You have never driven in Atlanta until you do it in a hearse! Ate at the Varsity while I was there too. Boy was that good. Keep up the good videos.
That was a fun little road trip with ya Walter. Atlanta has a very impressive skyline. A couple other railfan notes: At 1:07 you pass over the CSX Abbeville Sub towards Hamlet, NC. At 1:51 you go under the Amtrak concourse which is also on the NS Washington-Atlanta mainline. At 5:47 you go under the CSX ex-Georgia line towards Augusta.
Thanks for commenting, Im sure which ever you choose will be great. The traffic to where you need to go might be considered before choosing a place. I think traffic on the south side of town would be more preferable
looks like traffic moves pretty quickly through downtown Atlanta. I drove through downtown Atlanta at 1 in the morning a few years ago on the way to Florida and was amazed at how fast people drove and how much traffic there is in Atlanta in the wee hours of the morning.
You should try driving through the GTA (Toronto, Canada and surrounding areas)...the main freeway (401 expressway) is much wider than that and it's gridlock most of the day! :S Busiest highway in North America! Nice vid, it's cool seeing other cities!
I really liked this urban ride! Something a little more fast paced than the usual peace of Bunch :-) Nice to see that in Atlanta most drivers, like you, properly use their turning signals.
I learned to drive that route and I-20 in an 18 wheeler while I was training. The second time in that area. I was comfortable even at 9 am and later rush hr.(not Scared as much) Main thing is I left my panic button somewhere else. and kept a prayer in one pocket and a lot of patience in the other pocket. Better then New England and Chicago driving I thought. Thanks for the nice video and some old memories.
No trucks of sort gives me the idea that it might be Sunday. Looks like some real smooth driving there Walter as our 401 and others are so bad rough with shawdy repairs and always under construction and the city street have gotten so bad from bad repairs and new gas lines being installed that it just pounds our vehicles to death.
I drive for a shuttle company and I have been through downtown Atlanta a number of times. Sometimes it can be easy like in this video, other times bumper to bumper. I find it pretty easy. Thanks for the video. :)
I'm aware of that. I once delivered a 15 passenger bus to Jacksonville, Fl. Made down there in record time. On the way home, I sat in stop and inch forward traffic from near downtown all the way out past 285. I thought I was going to blow up the Ford Escort I was driving. I'm glad it was a stick, an automatic wouldn't have made it through that day.
Thanks for this. I've been to Atlanta many times in my semi, but they don't let the Big Trucks drive the Big Roads inside the bypass, so I've never actually seen downtown.
Great video Walter!!! I enjoyed Atlanta!! My only experience with Atlanta is flying into Hartsfield from Okla. City years ago to catch a connecting flight to Wash. D.C. You were lucky not to encounter any traffic snarls. How would you like for me to take you on a drive into downtown St. Louis via I-55, and go up to the top of the Gateway Arch(630 feet up)? It is my pleasure!! Thanks for the ride!!
I was down there in Dec. just before Christmas. Went to Warner Robins. I left Richmond, IN at 12 am Saturday morning. Was in Warner Robins, GA at 10 am. Was back in Richmond at 11:30 pm Saturday night. Went down to my sister-in-laws to pick up my daughter. Driving thru Hot lanta was just like in your vid, going down and coming back.
Cool Video Walter, I've never been to Atlanta, But I would love to check out the railroad scene there, And also would love to visit the huge Model Railroad Hobby Shop north of town. A few guys from nscale.net have mentioned it. Thanks for sharing the experience of riding in your passenger seat through Atlanta. Have a great one friend! Rob
driving etiquette over in the US must be a bit different to the UK, a lot of cars were chopping and changing through the lanes in a manner that would only enrage UK drivers. I also noticed your speed limit seemed quite low - can't have been more than 50?
I fucking love this video :-)) watched it Twice. The quality is excellent and your driving is awesome. I really love Atlanta, And i really look forward to Living there in the very near future its a Awesome city, to me looks better than most European city. I love the roads, so wide and nice. Some of the roads ive been on are narrow as hell like in Britain. But these roads are Gorgeous I love highways like these Spacious and no speed limit. Are there anymore roads like this in ATL. Great video :-D

I've got no idea of distances in the US, Walter, so I'm going to ask a daft question - how far from Atlanta is Griffin?
driving etiquette over in the US must be a bit different to the UK, a lot of cars were chopping and changing through the lanes in a manner that would only enrage UK drivers. I also noticed your speed limit seemed quite low - can't have been more than 50?
