The early years of the buzzcocks were so good. The guests just went on for fun and it showed.
And had legends like Bruce Dickinson..... Then later on reality show rejects.
It does come across like more of a celeb pub quiz in the earlier days but it's sometimes fun to watch the ones who don't want to be there get destroyed lol
You can accurately plot the onset of cannabis psychosis if you watch all of Huey Morgan's appearances in order

I do like it when everyone's on the same page. I wasn't expecting Bruce Dickinson to be so funny either.

I'm guessing that most front men are. Either they're born with it or they have to learn it, but either way the vast majority of them are showmen. It'd be a hard life if they couldn't riff off the cuff. After all, they're the ones who usually have to talk to the crowd between the tracks. It's not a good idea to be boring to a crowd who've paid to come and see a show.
I’ve met Bruce Dickinson and he helped me make a load of cups of tea for a film crew. Really nice down to Earth bloke
He writes the funniest books in the manner of Tom Sharpe.
He’s one of the greatest vocalists of all time, can pilot an aeroplane and was once ranked in the top 10 fencers 🤺 in the country, but you thought being funny might be beyond his capability?

The greatest thing on TV (and now on the internet as well) ever? Molko and Dickinson with great banter, Baddiel looking... interesting and the man, the mountain, the legend that is Phill Jupitus in the middle of it all
I remember watching this when it was on. Doesn't seem so long ago, but when I watch it now I just think "Look how young Bruce is! He's practically a child!"
God i miss this show. Lamar was pure comedy gold.

Man the fact Saffron was part of the identity parade round in the reboot is a massive sign of the longevity of the show.
man i loved this, they should bring it back, they pretty much have everything else (usually rubbish) so we could do with a bit of class!

When nmtb had actual musicians as guests. Instead of future line up participants as guests.
I used to love that; when you’d be watching a later episode (though I kind of stopped after Simon Amstell and Bill Bailey left), and you’d see some boy band “star” in the lineup, from the late 90’s/early 2000’s, who had previously appeared on Never Mind the Buzzcocks, back when they were the new flavour of the month.
It must have been pretty soul destroying for those people; to be only brought back onto the show, because the producers of Buzzcocks think the panel will struggle to pick you out of a lineup, despite you having actually appeared on the show probably less than a decade ago.
They must have looked out, at all the new flavours of the month, and thought “Laugh it up, arseholes; you’ll be next, mark my words!”
Saying that, most of them were probably just thankful to be actually back on bloody television; even if it was as an obscure face from recent pop music past haha.
