    Not convinced. Omtatah is so far the best presidential aspirant I've seen on this show. His plan seemed to have clarity. This man is charismatic, yes, but impulsive. He has ideas, but I don't see the clarity in his plan. Wanjigi (shady background) also has ideas, but will he resonate with Kenyans?

    Interesting debate. Makes more sense than the incumbent. On IEBC, we need to have a different way of establishing it...and not via the presidency. We Must establish a way to have an alternative way of establishing IEBC which does not involve the presidency.

    • @relaxingtube3086
      @relaxingtube3086 Місяць тому +2

      No Constitution that cannot be taken advantage of by corrupt. Our constitution is world class and the focus should be to get leaders of integrity in that high seat. Kenya with leaders like Omtatah, or Morara can change like Singapore.

    • @OdhisJakakan
      @OdhisJakakan Місяць тому

      @@relaxingtube3086 you got it wrong. People who have some wisdom will see why the constitution of Kenya 2010 is faulty. It is actually worse than what it replaced. I have done comparative studies; no country moved to first world status with a constitution as faulty as ours. Issues like corruption, good governance, and free and fair elections can be cured using the constitution. If you still feel that the challenge is to 'get leaders with integrity', then you are expressing naivety that is most likely to be expressed by the average Kenyan. Fact is, no politician has integrity. No one is coming to save us. Morara, Omtatah and all these guys may pose as saviors, but they are mere mortals, chasing their self-centered ideals. Politicians are not saviors.
      Now we know that the government can wake up and start raising taxes. Why not introduce a provision in the constitution that the citizen is entitled to their income. That the sum of taxes or statutory deductions should not exceed a quarter of an individual’s earnings. That the state has no moral right to expropriate more than a quarter of a person’s sweat, and toil, knowing most of the money is looted, anyway!
      A constitutional change should focus on two other things: first is to eradicate the imperial presidency and introduce proportional representation and a parliamentary system of government. MP seats can be awarded per county or region based solely on population and party list used instead of winner-takes-all constituencies. The party lists should be diverse to comply with two-thirds gender rule. Party lists mean we wont waste time drawing boundaries, and neither will we have densely populated constituencies like Ruiru, being underrepresented. Plus, CDF can be retained, for as long as it is not MPs running them.
      The party or coalition with majority MPs forms government and its leader becomes president. That is how kina Omtatah or Morara can have at least a handful of MPs to push the reform agenda in parliament. They are going nowhere with the current rigged winner-takes-all process.
      The second should be on meaningful devolution through provincial governments that have greater autonomy. Merge the counties into 9 provinces, run by Premiers who are the leaders of majority parties in the Provincial Assembly, again elected on proportional representation. Devolve 50% of revenue to the provinces, and give them more autonomy, then abolish the senate. Have municipalities under them. You will have stopped tribes from fighting for the big seat in Nairobi coz most functions will be devolved.
      Why should the COB complain of counties with 300 bank accounts, but lack the power to freeze those accounts and order their closure? Why should the Auditor General be producing beautifully written audit reports showing waste in government, yet she lacks the power to prosecute those criminals. She lacks the power to even write to a bank and order them to freeze an account she suspects is holding stolen public funds? We could correct this mess in a constitution.

    It’s good that he highlights judging leaders by their track record-this is indeed a valuable tool. However, it applies to everyone, whether in government or not. Even as a professional, your impact should be felt, not just empty outbursts. Leadership isn’t about claiming to have untapped potential or promising to deliver miracles when given the opportunity. You should demonstrate your abilities, just as Omtatah has done, before earning the trust for leadership. This is the only way to ensure we make the right choices. It’s not about the manifesto-it’s about character.

    To tell u the truth wajakoya.. am from mountain and am telling you Luhya are the most political democratic people in kenya!!! Voting as block as per your TRIBAL king directive is simply most ukondoo🐑🐑thing that has cursed kenya since independence. If kenyans were independent and free minded individuals like luhya kenya will be like UK or US economic wise. Having a whole community tied to some 1 person little finger is the worst system that Kanu established. Look in US people were so free that Obama's, Clintons, bushes, Kennedys, oprah, all big celebrities didn't influence the individual mind decision of the people . They voted 1 by 1 with their own mind and trump won. We need to loosen ourselves from so called kingpins and Genz and alpha Gen are heading there. May be in 20 -30 years time kenyans will be all like luhya. FREE MIND. FREE TO CHOSE❤🙏

      Kenya is still struggling to get the kikuyu people think kenyan and not Mlima. But I believe Ruto has the potential to deal with it by making sure when he leaves office 2032 hand over leadership absolutely out of the mountain. The problems we are dealing is false notion that they must lead regardless of how they win. And this kind of thinking makes the president just pay through IEBC, SUPREME COURT etc.

    We need an urgent discussion on what kind of constitution do we need. The current one is too flawed to enable us to achieve anything meaningful. I have done comparative studies of first world countries - none of them leaped to first class economies using a constitutional model as faulty as ours. We will rotate here, waiting for political saviors and none will be forthcoming.
The party lists should be diverse to comply with the two-thirds gender rule. Party lists mean we won't waste time drawing boundaries, and neither will we have densely populated constituencies like Ruiru, being underrepresented.

Why should the Auditor General be producing beautifully written audit reports showing massive plunder in government, yet she lacks the power to prosecute those criminals. She lacks the power to even write to a bank and order them to freeze an account she suspects is holding stolen public funds? We could correct this mess in a constitution.

    Wajackoyah is emphasizing track records, but a track record isn't limited to the time one has a government position. What difference has he made in his own small way? A clear sign of a lack of leadership qualities is when all promises hinge on condition when become president. Leadership isn’t about the position-it’s about actions, much like growth in a human being. You don’t wait for the position to transform an individual. If someone genuinely opposes corruption, their actions should already be visible, such as pursuing justice in court. Why wait to become president to start fighting corruption?

    Kenya, political talk is entertaining...it allows us to vent frustrations...no wonder Raila was such a big proponent of allowing us to vent freely...he knew it was a pressure release valve. Without free speech, the country would or could enter the violent state of 2007 PEV, the Somali dysfunctional state, and other conflict zones.
    However, having said that, reality is about INTERESTS, and having the power, organization and resources to advance and protect them. That is the age old story of the earth and its peoples. If no one in Kenya, comes up with a successful strategy to advance and defend the interests of the Kenyan masses, its all venting. Mta do?

Coining stupid narratives like Huster Vs Dynasty, Gen Z, Nyayo, Harambee, UhuRuto Tano tena, Kazi iendelee...etc only to regroup and reinstall the 60 year old monopoly. Government parastatals like KRA, Kenya power, Kenya Police, KEMSA, Kenya airways & KPA have been dominated by these two tribes for the past 60 years.
