If your having to adjust it when taking one door off somethings not right. Check your center piece, its probably loose. I’ve have never had that problem. Pro tip. When you cover is mounted where you want it, measure the leading edge of the flat bar on the center stationary piece to the bed wall (Cab Side) on both sides and write it down in sharpie on the underside. Then take an offest measurement on the flat bar to the bedrail. Once you know these measurements, you can repeatedly reinstall it to the exact position in a few minutes. If you ever have to take the cover off completely, a couple of seconds with the tape and you can reinstall it literally in a couple of minutes to the exact same spot. My 13yo can take it off and put it back on on my ram 2500 in under 10 minutes.
You can choose to have the tie downs cleats pre installed or shipped ala carte with cover and you install them yourself. SE comes with 4 cleats and you always purchase more via accessories. HD comes with 12 cleats.
Nice review, the smooth version came out later. My diamondback HD is in black diamond plate and was the first accessory I put on my Ram 2500 Mega Cab. I like the mounts you have I’ll be checking for those. I’ve been checking the solid molle panels for the sides and under the rear window. And my brother has the swing out, lockable wheel well storage containers. Nice work as always!
Hey dude. Thanks for the review. Just pulled the trigger on the smooth HD. Also got the extension rails, ramps and shorter height window protector so I can haul my Outlander Max. Also decided to get one of the trays that lays in there.
That is a good cover. I have one made by Gator. Folds up tight to the rear window so I can use the entire bed. Kydex with aluminum frame-sturdy. One challenge, wet snow followed by low temps causes the cover to freeze to the bed.
I’ve been looking at Renegade hard but the customer service seems to be a major issue. A few people have had nightmarish experiences which is steering me most likely to the DB. Renegade is absolutely a better concept so it’s a shame.
@@MarineX the tldr version? too expensive, takes many many months to get, and worst of all, SERIOUS LEAKS. unfortunate bc it is definitely better looking and more capable. leaks are an absolute deal breaker though.
@@MarineX Stick to the DB. The Renegade is unnecessarily complicated and leaks like a sieve due to design. Think USMC vs Army designed: ours was simple and worked every time but was not fancy, theirs was complicated, needed civilian reps to repair, had every option but in the end, failed miserably in the field.
I have the same exact truck, the Silverado version. Just got it! Planned on getting this cover for a while. Think you could make a video going over the aftermarket stuff on your truck? Like lift, tires, wheels and size ect.
Thank you for the video. Quick question, did you have an issue with the locks? I have had the cover for about 3 weeks. The key is REALLY hard to get in and out of the lock itself. Once it’s in lock is easy to turn and lock. Gonna try some oil and see how it does.
Question. Have you experienced any leaks with water? I have one and in the last 4 or 5 months water is getting in. I’ve tried weather stripping and multiple adjustments and it still happens.
Great review! Quick question. Can you fold the back panel all the way over the the headache rack installed that you don't have to remove the back panel if you want to put a taller item in the back?

I used to have that gator cover. The diamondback comes off pretty quick for full use.
That is sweet. That is more than a cover it's a extension of your bed.
It may seem a bit out-there, but if you’re looking for another tool to mount, a halligan might be a good option.

Had a diamondback but switched to a Renegade. No frozen lock issues in cold, better system for mounting on top.

No it bumps up against it. But I normally strap it to it with a moving blanket in between

I have a diamondback hd on a 19 tacoma and the bed extender on that works fine underneath and out on the tailgate.
