My first month in ICU I was made fun of on my back and told that I should have learnt half of it in nursing school and saw a preceptor say “that was bad” to my colleagues about my rounds. But I kept my head down and kept working. 1 year later I was youngest charge nurse and got accepted in 7 CRNA schools. Starting my journey this August. So don’t let this get to you. Thanks for being so raw with your experience.

I felt the same way as a new SRNA. Anxious, doubting myself, and lacked confidence. You’ll get so much more comfortable in the coming months. Don’t take anything personal from the CRNAs precepting you. They are human and likely struggled starting out too. As long as you come back each day open to do better and learn more, you’ll thrive! I’ve officially been practicing as a CRNA for 1.5 years and I am very confident in my skills and abilities. You’ll get there too!

6:15 - ⭐️ a tip for most hospital gurneys: they are 3 controls on the pedals the break / , lateral movement - , then STEER \ . When you release the break, push alllll the way down to the opposite side until it clicks/bumps into gear. Use the middle gear to position the gurney closer / farther to the OR bed etc. It’s super non-obvious and NO ONE explains this 😩 so I hope this helps somebody. 🤗

@@jeenaalexandrasrna I’m sooooo happy I could help! I told you no one ever explains this! 😂 It’s like a weird hazing ritual to make newbies suffer or sumthin smh. Enjoy your new trick and spread the word!🥰

I have a feeling lots of newbies have a very similar experience on their first day lol. You seem to have a healthy perspective :) Can't wait to see how it gets easier for you as you go!

Awww it seems like your nerves got the best of you. The lack of sleep didn’t help either. Even if you went to sleep early you might have been too nervous to sleep anyways. Well it was your first day and you will be able to look back laugh and see how far you have come. Also, you will be super empathetic and understanding to new students. :)

Unfortunately many people forget where they came from. Everyone at some point was totally lost, but some people, the moment they catch on, totally forget about how they didn’t know what they were doing just the week before and they act like they can’t relate.

@@jeenaalexandrasrna I’m not even in nursing school yet but i know i want to be a crna, and your videos are a huge help in preparing me mentally for what is to come. I am mostly worried that I won’t be able to keep up with the amount of material in such a short period of time, so i already downloaded a few of the textbooks i have seen other srna’s mention they have for classes. I’m slowly teaching myself the concepts of anesthesia. If you have any recommendations on which textbooks would give me a good foundational knowledge of anesthesia that would be great!
