She’s a bad looking shovel alright there Marky Mark…it’s come a long way from the boat that it use to look like…those S&S Stroker means you probably got a 1600cc kit in it!…Boys are still dragging those motors over here in NZ…getting super hard for decent parts these days, have been for a while now actually but bloody awesome motors when you get them running right!…they are the LOUDEST MOTORS MADE…cast iron barrels for that deep sound paired up with some loooong straight cut or slash cut free flows were meeean!…Hope you get it sorted man…
Great Shovel, Marc. A good tune-up is in order. I'd say the carb leak is from a stuck float. Make sure there's a decent fuel filter on the gas line. The last thing you want is to have the belt "walk" and/or wear prematurely. Try to get a spacer of the proper thickness for your front belt pulley. Also, a retainer ring on the outside OD of that front pulley is necessary. Back in the 1970s, I ran Phase 3 and Karata belt drives on my builds. I had only one belt failure and that was my fault -- improper pulley alignment. Belts/pulleys need exact alignment, proper adjustment and ventilation to remain working properly. S&S barrels and those tall, capped cylinder base nuts are an indication that you might have a big bore kit and possibly longer stroke flywheels inside your mill. S&S also makes stock replacement cylinders. That sucks about you not being able to find the proper brake pads for that Performance Machine dual-action caliper. If this was my bike, I'd run a decent front brake system. That's a whole lotta rake on that frame! That makes for interesting slow-speed maneuvers. Believe me, I know! Stock H-D mags look tough on a chop and they're a lot cheaper than custom wheels. You can chrome those wheels, polish them or powder paint them to match the rest of the machine. Good luck with that Shovel. Ride safe. -- W
I'm guessing this is an older video because we have seen you ride it. Has the kickstart been easier to you since then? All in all great bike Marc. Hope you never have to sell it. I love the Red seats even though I don't like red seats...it makes the bike stand out.
Hi! Looks like you’re new to our channel, welcome to the party! Each video is posted in chronological order, hence the numbers on each title. The date recorded can be found at the very beginning of each description. This one for example, “041723” is April 17th, 2023. If you rewatch vlogs 287 & 288 where his bike is complete, take note of the first few seconds of vlog 287 along with the video descriptions of both 287 & 288. 287: ua-cam.com/video/QDMwPVzAR_w/v-deo.html Our group of friends, all hangs out nearly every day, if not every other day of the week, and we make sure to document each event, which, as you can see, is nearly impossible to catch up at this rate. But we are doing our best and staying up late nights to continue to push out more of the dated content, all while still going out and documenting our current adventures along the way. It’s kind of a tricky balance of documenting and editing, but just know that the content will never stop!
It’s just a stroked motor. When you kick it to start it you need a full rotation of the motor to fire it and being stroked means it has further to go in order to kick it. Most stroked motors have a longer kicker pedal to have more throw when kicking. But it’s seemed to fire pretty well if you ask me.
Why would you want to kill yourself trying to start your bike? Change the ignition out for a Crane Hi4n (easy to install) and check the intake seals for leaking. Sounds like you might have a intake vacuum leak. The Intake manifold can sometimes be tricky to get a good seal. Ask any old time shovel owner. You need to spend some time at the intake manifold and retarding the timing a bit. I know how frustrating it is when you don’t have anyone to help or ask questions to. We work on a lot of Shovels at my shop and we are still learning after 22 years. Hang in there!
Cylinders , cylinder nuts and head bolts look like S&S . If you are lucky the cylinder are 3 5/8 and part of a sidewinder kit with 4 1/2 inch flywheels . Rocker boxes are late model shovel and wheel might have come of a Sturgis . Looked like its hard to kick over , maybe a stroker . Engine to gearbox to rear sprocket alignment is critical for a smooth running bike and the edge of the belt should not touch anywhere , clutch hub or alternator . All the ingredients for shovel magic .
not gonna get the leverage you need to kick that over properly like that brotha. it aint no push start an it sounds like its choking a lil city but hey im just a dude on youtube what do i know haha cool shovel tho
Awesome video and awesome content Thank’s

Also use enricher to start it’s way easier than kicking with out it
On mine 3 dry kicks , good to go, or park on a hill and jump or bump start it , witch ever word you use.
Don't forget to gap your plugs kids..

Thanks for the insight!

Nice, good looking bike. So what was the fix for the belt slipping? Just curious.
Replaced the belt and baskets,’belt was bad too
