Agreed, i think if they found a way to get this to $60, i feel like that would've been a more sensible price point for most consumers. That would've turned it into a sort of alternative to the Zero Red, as opposed to a minor upgrade that costs a bit more. Plus, the $80 market is extremely competitive, more so than last year. But hopefully we'll see this tech be implemented into more sets in the future.
On a side note, any plans to review the Kefine Delci? Intrigued how they stack up to the Z300 and/or Fudu, as they graph pretty similarly. They've been getting praise recently, so wondering if it's just recency bias. Aaaand, the Ziigaat twins (Cincotres/Doscinco! Really waiting for your reviews on those. Should be an interesting comparo for the Cadenza 4, as well as the Hype 2.
$80 upgrade to the RED? lol there's been a $45 upgrade to the RED for months now it's called Aoshida E20, on a technical level it wipes the floor with something like the Singolo. Hell a Conch or EW200 could wipe this thing.
@@rustyshakelford1466 genuinely sad how little reading comprehension people have on the internet. Haha.
Yeah, Delci is either on the way or soon to be on the way. Already talked to Kefine on it.
@@PaulWasabii nice! Looking forward to that. Thanks Paul!
Great review Paul, I haven’t bought this set. I went for the Kefine Delci for my safety tuned budget set. Should get here in a couple of days. I tend to agree with you on Singolo’s cable. I remember another, HBB Kailua, set that caught a bunch of heat because people didn’t understand the cable.
Right, sometimes its a cheap cable, sometimes its intentional to not add complications. I have a Deci on the way I think as well
Happy Easter, Paul!
You too
The best review of the Singolo I've seen so far. 👍👍
Interesting set, wouldn't buy it without trying first, though.
There are several reports of the Allegro dongle being analogue sounding , do you agree?
Thanks
If you can try Singolo, that is the best option. Allegro didn't hit me as analog but I also think of analog as leaning towards a warmer smoother sound. It struck me as sounding like other ESS dacs, a bit tighter on bass, brighter isn't quite right, but upper extended, more present. Just my opinion, I think iFi does that analog sound better than most, that Burr Brown sound.
how does it compare to the EW200 in terms of technicalities and bass texture and tactility?
Eh, wrong set for that. You need midbass for that. This bass tuck style is minimal bass impact
Hi! Im over satured with so manyy iems. Could you say me the BEST overall one/two option for music under 600€/700€ MAX?
1 DD, 1 Planar, and 1 hybrid. I have Timsok and Twilight. Planar I'd say Shozy P20 or wait for Panda 2. Hybrid is going to be Dusk for a while. Not sure anything will touch that for a while at its price point.
Great review as always. But how does it handle layering in busier tracks? Does it get muddy there?
Muddy isn't right as that is usually a midbass problem. I'd say what I said about Metallica's Orion, it still sounds like DD and if you want those sharper edges, cleaner edges, it isn't that style. Not muddy, but that treble isn't set up to add the separation and layering. Also why I said fun a few times, if you are looking for a heavy technical set, this isn't tuned like that.
I love my 7hz sonus. Do you think Singolo has better tech and tuning than the sonus?
Nope, enjoy your Sonus for a while
would metal genre work with this set? for someone who doesn't like too much treble or upper mids
Truthear Hola was that style, less upper end at a reasonable price. Singolo is in the ballpark but it costs quite a bit more and the fit might make it seem brighter.
Waiting for the Purp to appear lol
I believe the Singolo will sell to those who view it in the context of innovation and have an appreciation for the effort of squeezing a Helmholtz resonator into a shell. Otherwise it's going to get pilloried for its fit and price to performance ratio.
I don't think it's a Crin cash grab and it wouldn't surprise me if those shells had/have a higher than average rejection rate, driving up the price. However, even if the Singolo is a sales failure, I'm betting the Helmholtz resonator will live on.
tl;dr I think a lot of people are going to miss the point of this set, which is innovation.
You should just buy the Magic One instead then, it sounds much better than this and is more novel.
@@rustyshakelford1466 This hobby is too subjective to make either of those claims. The Magic One might sound better, but the only way to know is to hear it with my own ears. And if you're the type of person who likes to buy novel designs, it isn't an either/or but both. It's hard to quantify something like that anyway.
I edited myself 10 times on this point. If the resonator brought a 2 driver style tuning down in cost, I think that would have been an innovative win. You are probably right, there is some cost baked in for development and possibly lower yield, not sure. And yes, I take it as a proof of concept and it will live on as another tuning mechanism. As I said, I think some people are going to miss it based on some initial impressions so we will see how it plays out over the longer game.
Tbh, I don't see anyone getting very excited and buying Singolo solely because of the innovation or appreciation factor, without Crinacle's collab title and endorsement on the product.
I got the Symphony for less than this and it literally sounds like it has a subwoofer lol. Maybe a bit less mid bass would help it though.
Yep, KZ has actually tried something similar with multiple drivers, Singolo did it with one, that was the trick. KZ also tends to release their tricks at lower cost to let people try them, that is part of the magic of Symphony.
So it's a mid iem ✌🏻😁
People coming hard with the mids.
The criticism for Singolo is more that you can find better performing and cheaper IEMs. Accessories and tech are sub par for the price
Same like what happened to Aria 2.
I haven't tried the Singolo yet, but accesories & cable Aria 2 already far better than Singolo
@@geraltnroach the singolo employs a technology that is costly (needs 3d printing complex shapes) but doesn't do much. so they have to cut costs else where.
Poor design with compromises sent mine back fit was terrible even with dunu s+s tips
I am not sure there is a perfect tip, it is too dependent on how it sits in your ear also. You can get a seal and still be off depending on the tip.
6.38mm nozzle. Nope
Not for my small ears too. Glad I bought the moondrop may for cheaper on sale and wait now for the next tanchjim and dunu Titan s2 have my eyes on the old Kato and their new tws. Anime nerd and music lover.
Many people ask questions when it approaches 6mm, figured I'd skip right to it.
why is crin releasing mid sets that cost this much? ppl falling for multiple marketing collabs could've saved and bought a top performer. Also, Crin listens at low-mid volume claiming to protect his ears, so why is his set even worse unless you crank up the volume? this isn't even Crin's set, now is it? I cannot find an excuse for Crin because no way Crin is enjoying this set in private.
A lot of collabs aren't collabs at all, they are re-brands of IEMs that already existed internally. Then they come to the reviewer for the "collab" and ask if they can put their name on. Lots of HBB collabs fall into this category too.
I won't justify the price they set, but I have also tried more expensive 1DD sets that I didn't enjoy. I didn't really like Falcon Ultra. I also own Timsok and Twilight so I understand the idea that a set is worth what people are willing to pay for it.
@@PaulWasabii Did you mean Singolo is as good as Timsok and Twilight, or did you mean you like Timsok and Twilight way more? I believe those aren't collabs though, so if fans avoided all these collabs, they could've saved the amount for a Timsok, Twilight, or some other IEM, right?
Anywho, Crin listens at low-mid volume so he certainly did a lot of hype but kinda exposed now.
@@PaulWasabii twilight review pls
Those are like KZ ESX horrible
Weird set to reference. Also why I spent 5 minutes on the fit.
Don't know what happened to my original comment but I'll post it again,
The included ear tips, they are absolutely useless and such poor flimsy quality. I’ve received better quality tips included in a £10/$10 aliexpress iem, The only tips that are a secure fit (in my ears) are Dunu S&S tips which are an additional £10/$10 purchase, if you design a shallow fit iem then at the very least include a set of tips that are suitable for fit, especially as the shell and nozzle design necessitate using such tips. This brings the price up into the very competitive £100/$100 range and this iem simply does not compete in that company, it barely competes in the sub £50/$50 range either - you have the Truthear Red with 10ohm adapter that gives a very similar response and the 7Hz Zero 2 also holds it own against the Singlolo.
Kiwi Ears and Crinacle rinsed the hobby with this pricing
I feel your pain and why I spent time on the fit. It isn't as simple as better tips, it is understanding where the nozzle sits in your ear and what it sounds like. I lucked out and didn't hear a problem with my KB07 tips so I started trying other tips to hear what other people were reporting. It is just a bit too complicated and didn't want people who spent a lot of money on it to just hate it without trying to get it to fit better.
Crin has some many bad sets. Now it just feels he is just destroying companies
One set from Kiwi Ears won't destroy them. They have had some hit and misses like everyone else. This may have been a proof of concept for them as well, the knowledge gained may have been their motivation.
Another disastrous collaboration with this overrated utuber hahaha😂😂😂😂😂
