While I appreciate his sentiment in light of the recent tragedies, I also find it intensely hypocritical that Chairman Kaine would make a video telling LGBT youth that it gets better when he openly opposed gay marriage and civil unions in his home state of Virginia, and stated that he supported a law that only married couples (that is, heterosexual couples) would be able to adopt children in Virginia. That's hardly representative of the bright future that he seems to espouse here.
I just want to say that I'm a gay republican. Politics are not black and white. Creating a false generalization out of one extreme of the spectrum is a very ignorant thing to do. If there was some way to conjure up a politician with my exact ideals then I would. But until then, I will vote in the direction that I feel best represents what I want from my country. Sometimes, you just can't have your cake and eat it too.
It gets better, but only when LGBT Americans are treated equally with dignity, respect and full civil rights, for anything less sends a message that our LGBT kids are less than others, which then allows homophobia in our society to trickle down to our classrooms with anti-gay bullying and harassment. Actions by our Democratic leaders that stop short of full equality (civil unions instead of marriage, appealing the DADT or DOMA federal cases) do not help make it better for our LGBT kids.
still waiting for the Republicans to join in this thing I mean what kind of person would be against this campaign its about being proud of yourself and against bullying people for who they are. o wait they never will because doing so will piss off thier insane base
I love how he says "who we were born to be" and telling us that we are special and unique.. it really makes me feel better.
Great message!
What an outstanding video. It makes me proud to be a Democrat.
Very powerful. You'll never see anything like this come from the RNC
Great message, and one you will only hear from the Democratic end of the spectrum.
Just don't give up
JAMIE!
First guy is good looking.
