    Just swapped in a pair of Li Time group 24 100Ah ‘smart’ batteries 2 weeks ago. On my first outing, running a 24v Terrova, we trolled and spot locked in 30 kph winds for about 6 hours of constant run time. When we got home, I used the built-in Bluetooth to check each battery and they were only down to 81% of capacity. Simply amazing 😎
    Shaved about 75 lbs of weight in the process too. Pretty damn impressed so far. Also added a new charger as my old one wasn’t lithium compatible. Went with a NOCO 10a x 2, what a slick little unit. Thought about the 10a x 2 but the 5a seems to be getting the job done.

    Informative vid! Do you know if the LiTime batteries offer batteries with the built in heater so you can heat when it’s at or below freezing?

    • @sgangling
      @sgangling  10 місяців тому

      Thanks man...the answer is yes. This particular battery doesn't offer that but they offer several other options with self heating where you can charge as low as -4.

    Is it easier to just buy 1 24v lithium instead of multiple 12vs for a 24 v trolling motor?

    • @sgangling
      @sgangling  9 місяців тому +1

      Yes if you are running a 24 volt system thats what I would suggest...less expensive overall...lighter and will take up less space and make charging easier

      These are $300 right now...just click the link in my description and use code SAMGAZA at checkout. Most lead acid batteries are $150ish so this is a great saving considering they have 5X the lifespan.

    Hey Sam thanks for the great explanation on those thinking im going to make that switch as well 👍. One question for you do you have to use a specific charger to charge those? I have one i use for my agm batteries its the pro marine from cabelas will that work thanks man.

    • @sgangling
      @sgangling  9 місяців тому +1

      You can use that for a lithium although you will not get an optimum charge and it's probably not best for the long-term health of the battery. So while my suggestion is to get a lithium specific battery charger technically you can still use your agm charger in the meantime

    How can you test a lithium battery. New charger. 100 ah 12v used for a 50 lb trolling motor. Battery not charging.

    • @sgangling
      @sgangling  7 місяців тому

      My first question would be...Are you charging it with a lithium battery charger...20v...14.6A LIFEPO?

    • @Unclejim511
      @Unclejim511 7 місяців тому +1

      Yes. The charger is new the first time it charged up very good. The second time it did not charge tested the trolling motor tested okay

    • @sgangling
      @sgangling  7 місяців тому

      @@Unclejim511 So I would try charging it with a different outlet...disconnect the connection points and make sure they are secure. When its charging you should get a red light on your charger...when its fully charged it should be green. If its still not charging then send it in for a replacement as it could be a faulty charger. I never had a problem with mine. You can always use a multimeter to test the voltage of your battery. Let me know how you do!

    Can you pair lithium with lead acid in 24 volt system?

    • @sgangling
      @sgangling  10 місяців тому

      It's not advised because it's two totally different types of batteries with different discharge rates, load characteristics and overall performance...so it could lead to malfunctioning or even safety issues.
      Has it been done before? Yes but not recommended.

    I switched to lithium iron-phosphate trolling motor batteries years ago. They are worth the money, no question.
    I tried really hard to watch the whole video, but the audio quality was absolutely the worst I've heard in years. Get a decent mic and consider making the video when your neighbor isn't warming up his Harley.

    Well if one takes care of their lead acid battery they should last a very long time, way more than 1-3 years! The average life of a lead acid battery is around 1500 cycles, if you fish every other day that's around 8 years. The other thing to remember is a 100ah lead acid is the same as 100 ah Lith! If the Lith battery "should" last 10 years why does it only have a 5 year warranty? Can say that I dis-agree with almost everything you say ..except that Lith batteries do weigh less! I'll come back and check in say 5 years and see how it's doing.

    • @sgangling
      @sgangling  10 місяців тому +1

      If you cared for your lead acid battery PERFECTLY you could maybe get 12-1300 lifecycles out of it but that's impossible to do for a BOAT owner because we often drain our batteries far below what they should and we charge and run them in the cold, leave them uncharged as we travel back to our garages etc etc. I made an apples to apples comparison in the video because if you care for a LiTime Lithium PERFECTLY it lasts 15,000 cycles not 4,000. BOOM...CAN'T DISAGREE WITH THAT!
      The 5 year warrantee takes into consideration the minimum portion of the range of what is guaranteed BECAUSE NO ONES TAKES CARE OF THEIR BATTERY THE WAY THEY SHOULD...this is pretty industry standard...CAN'T DISAGREE WITH THAT!
      So they are lighter, last longer on the water, longer lifespan, they charge 5x faster, maintain a constant output through any given lifecycle and have 10X the lifecycles. And is covered under warrantee....WHAT DID YOU SAY YOU DISAGREED WITH? ALL EARS DUDE.

    • @shazhu2455
      @shazhu2455 10 місяців тому +1

      Well, a 100ah lead acid is NOT the same as a 100ah because you can’t drain the lead acid more than 50% or 50ah if you want to maintain its heath. You can drain LFP 100% theoretically or at least 85-90% of the 100ah. Moreover, it maintains pretty much the same voltage throughout the whole drain process.
