    Thanks so much Irinia for such a beautiful tour and history of Lovers Leap, so far the best video and history of it so far. I’m from Treasure Beach area about 15 mins drive from Lovers Leap, I also went to Ocean View Bible Camp as a child which is walking distance from Lovers Leap, we used go hiking down to the cave at Lover’s Leap, it’s also one my favorite place to visit and eat when I visit Jamaica, I moved to New York in 1997 but so looking forward to return home at some point. Love St Elizabeth and I love my country.🙏🏽🇯🇲❤️

    Awesome! I'm the author of the best-selling novel, Lover's Leap: Based on the Jamaican Legend, described by thousands of readers as "a page turner...gripping...and you'll never put it down." I was born right there at Lover's Leap and grew up with the legend. I would urge all your followers to read this nail-biting poignant tale. It's part of a trilogy - Dawn at Lover's Leap and Morant Bay: Based on the Jamaican Rebellion. The latter was a finalist in the USA Booknews Bestbook Awards for Historical Fiction. They are available on all Amazon stores. One love!

    I remember my first time going as a kid. I looked down and felt giddy from the panoramic view and watched the horizon meet the ocean with its incredible stretch of blue sky. I went there again as a tour guide trainee in September to relearn its beautiful history and fall in love with the sculptured statues like a third wheel. The lighthouse is amazing too. One can almost feel the history etched into its walls.

    Hi Irena thanks for such an awesome video, I have heard about Lovers Leap from when I was a child am I am from NE St. Elizabeth and the first time I had been there was 2013 when my wife visited Jamaica for the first time a cousin of mine took us there, it was breathtaking I had never seen such a beautiful landscape like this before, the only place I have been to that comes this close is in Portugal. Irena I am pleased to see you showing Jamaica to the world even though I think St. Elizabeth is a neglected parish that always leave behind in many ways, there is nothing that the Jamaican tourist board is doing to showcase the place, I do believe you are a gem that show case and give positive reviews of Jamaica, as a Jamaican born I have heard quite a lot from your video vlogs that I never had a clue about Jamaica and places.

    Irina your work is amazing! Your videos are always informative, well researched, produced and professionally filmed. I think the ministry of tourism need to acknowledge the positive contents that you produce weekly for Jamaica. I understand that your channel is private and independent, however I truly believe that there can be collaborative efforts with you and the ministry to correct the distorted views of Jamaica . You are an ambassador for Jamaica and our culture. Thank you.

    OMG! You mean I won't be able to visit Lover's Leap when I come? Okay, maybe during my next trip the Covid situation will no longer be such a deterrent. I have never been there, Irina! And it's on my bucket list! In the next month, or so, I'm thinking of taking a two month trip and that's one of the places I was thinking of visiting on the south coast, along with Hellshier Beach. Oh well, I have so many place to tour, maybe I would not be able to fit it in during this trip anyway. Thanks for the update, Irina. You just saved me a wasted trip to Lover's Leap because I would have gone there if I hadn't seen this video. i wish I could say you are a God send, but I'm an atheist, so I can't. I can't say you are a blessing either because that too has a religious connotation. I'll just simply say, you are awesome! Keep up the good work, Irina.

    • @stevenbarrett4110
      @stevenbarrett4110 3 роки тому +3

      powertoolfreak You might want to revise your itinerary and scratch Hellshire beach. Its gone, sea rise, no longer exists. UA-cam video here: zjc-fMcP-V8&t=5s. Hope I did that correctly. Or type Hellshire Beach is disappearing. Many videos will pop up which may shock you. Good luck and thanks for the drone info. I don't own one yet, but I simply MUST.

    • @bigtoolgarry
      @bigtoolgarry 3 роки тому +1

      @@stevenbarrett4110 it's mostly the restaurants I'm really interested in more than the beach itself. I understand some businesses are still operating, but find themselves at the water's edge because of the beach erosion, while others have gone, or going out of business due to the lack of customers from the government's covid restrictions.
      Before I go, I'll find out if the place is still open and if any restaurants are still in operation. I'm not so big on beaches for swimming, but I do go to some at times. I prefer deep water swimming from the rocks and cliffs. On the north coast, where I'm from, there are plenty of places to do that. I wouldn't go all the way to the south coast to do any kind of swimming at all.
      Drones are awesome, and if you're a vlogger, they can get you some breathtaking scenery footagege to incorporate into your videos.

    Fun 🤩 story on the drone..however if it’s a good drone ..no need to worry..it design to end up back at the original place of take off..

    • @bigtoolgarry
      @bigtoolgarry 3 роки тому +2

      Yes, most modern high end drones have two (pretty much) failsafe return functions, RTH (return to home) and RTC (return to controller) functions. If the RTH function is set, the drone will return to the point of takeoff. If RTC function is set, it will return to where the controller is at the time of return. Most will default to the RTH function if no function is set prior to takeoff, in case of a signal failure, like in Irina's situation.
      The RTC function is primarily for autonomous flying, or "follow me" situations, where you ascend the drone, forget about it and concentrate on your activities. No matter where you go with the controller, the drone will follow. It's primarily used for sporting events like boating, biking, auto racing etc. However, in the event of a drained battery, the drone will automatically land itself directly below where it is flying, if there is not enough battery power to fly it to where the controller is or where it took off from.
      Therefore, when flying over water, one has to be mindful of battery charge percentage, because if you set the RTC function, launch the drone from a boat dock, sail out to sea on a boat and the drone is following the boat, if battery charge drops low, the drone is smart enough to determine if there is enough power to RTH or land, but it will not try to follow the boat any longer to try and RTC. If the drone determines its battery does not have have sufficient charge to RTH, it will land in the water below. With that said, if you are not flying a waterproof drone like the Swellpro series or the Gannet Pro series, that can land on top of the water and wait for you to retrieve it, you can kiss it goodbye, or get ready for a salvage diving operation. Happy flying, happy new year and happy Valentine's day.

    I like this 😊 ...they also had/have a hiking trail and guide/tour going down the slope to the sea from the top there on offer where good sized sea life can be seen...and off the shore there too is a sand pit/reef called sunny island where you can also see from top...boat tours go there and it is a good spot for snorkeling... Also from the top you can see sometimes sometimes the ships going to or coming from the nearby bauxite port which is Port Kaiser owned by Alpart/Jisco the largest bauxite plant in JA...before the lighthouse was built, the lights from the nearby Munro College (school known to have the most rhodes scholars this side of the world/the only boys school outside the cities in JA/the only all boys boarding school in JA/school that produces many leaders for Jamaica and the world at large eg. one of our Prime Ministers/Tony Hart who made Montego Bay what it is today/the first cabinet of independent JA were basically half made up of Munronians and the cadets of the school fought in world wars one and two/has the most property of any high school here/has wind mills on it's grounds and had a wind mill on campus even before it became popular (was first high school in the english speaking caribbean to be connected to a wind turbine grid) /so influential that people call the area by the school name more than Potsdam and it has it's Post office name after it/only high school that was registered in England as public school outside England/the whole campus is basically a heritage site/there was a tunnel that lead to Hampton it's sister school during the world wars and it also had underground rooms all which are now sealed off as far as i know ^_^ i got the chance to go under before they completely sealed it/Munro College had/has a reputation that many of the politicians/leaders who didn't attend also had a relative going, royalty also attended the school...all this fits into it's motto In Arce Sitam Quis Occultabit which is to be latin meaning in english a city set up on a hill cannot be hid...just an eg of how it is www.jamaicaobserver.com/news/munro-college-in-the-1960-s-------_59382 ) was used for those at sea to come in at nights as a guide as it was basically the only place with light back in the day in that area and it is at the very peak of the Santa Cruz Mountain

      No need to panic. RTH (return to home) function is pretty much automatic in the event of a signal loss (on most modern drones).

      @@hayjamdantv I know what you mean. It happened to me too and panic set in because the drone went out sight and below the trees. There was no response when I tried to ascend it into the sky above the trees so I could see it, but nothing happened.
      This went on for several minutes. Video feed went out too, but I could hear the drone, just couldn't tell exactly where it was below the trees. I literally gave up on it and was listening to hear it crash into the trees and be destroyed.
      I closed my eyes and waited for that final, horrible sound, but the buzz of the drone just got closer. I opened my eyes and saw the thing hovering right in front of my face.
      Drone experts always say, "Trust your drone and have faith in the return to home feature." But when you have a $1,500 USD machine flying out of sight and acting up, you can't help but worry.

      No, they don't. 9.9% of population consume cannabis in Jamaica, compared to 32.7% in Canada, 27% in Israel and 16.2% in the USA. However, it's a popular product among tourists, so it is actually visitors who are the largest consumers of marijuana in Jamaica.

      I grew up in the District of Yardley Chase...the "park" actually belongs to the settlers when the Yardley Chase plantation was being subdivided and sold to the residents. That subdivision was in the early 1940's as evidenced on the land title for my father.
      The piece of land where the building is located was our play ground and we had the original structure served as a community centre.
      I feel sad when I see the entrance with gates and we are no longer able to move about freely....Oral history shared by my late father.
      Not so sure about the person by the name of "Chardley". One of the plantation owners was Mr Panton Forbes from South Africa...he lived at a great house that is now owned by a church ...it is called Ocean View Bible camp.
      There are other stories about the couple who jumped over the cliff...

      @@carolwright1381 Thank you so much for sharing this! Yes, the land was taken by the government and they put the fence, so that it can be used as an attraction and people are paid to maintain it. As for historical part of it, well.. check out 1804 map - there were no plantations/estates in the area nearby (which is a rare case for Jamaica!). www.ucl.ac.uk/lbs/maps/caribbean/jamaica#zoom=15&lng=-77.668147&lat=17.872325&estate_id=11013
      I have found only private homes, the nearest one belonged to Mrs.Parchment. I wonder who Panton Forbes is, will do some research is, thank you so much!!!
