Thanks for this, it was excellent. I never understood the hydrovane, but so it was like I suspected, like the gain in a transistor. Or an opamp with feedback. Genius, it takes little energy to turn the hydrovane but it puts out a lot of energy.
agreed, it is such an amazing piece of engineering, and conserves so much energy compared to an auto-pilot. Thanks for watching and leaving such positive feedback
Great quality of animation 👍 Most aspects of the system are well explained, except of transmission of the movement beetwin the vane and the trim blade 🤔
You produce excellent instructional videos that are easy to follow and understand with only minimal knowledge. What software do you use to produce the models and animations? Thanks Adrian Canberra.
Hi Adrian, thanks so much... I use Blender3D... there are also some tutorials on our channel we just released to get folks started, check them out. Thanks for the comments, much appreciated
thanks for your awesome comments... upwind is certainly easier. As you sail downwind, your apparent wind decreases so in low winds it can be a bit tricky. This requires good sail trim/wing-on-wing sailing.
I'm always impressed by the quality of your animations.
always good to hear from you, thanks so much
Great job explaining the mechanics in a simple way with easy to follow examples keep up the good work
amazing feedback, thanks so much

Great video! Thanks
Great!
thank you, much appreciated
Great video!
This is an amazing explanation! Really nice work! Are there any differences or concerns when using it to go downwind instead of upwind?
