This movie was sad but had a happy ending. And what's sad about this movie is there are adults like Miss Minchin that exist in the world that are contemptuous toward children. I'm glad Miss Minchin got fired at the end and Sara got her father back and Becky was set free from that servant job. I'm sure she was sick of slaving around for Miss Minchin day in and day out and being segregated from the other girls.
I guess she’s saying that because she’s determined to break Sara’s spirit, but nothing she does seems to work. Besides, Sara’s determined to remain a princess inside even though others might think she’s no longer a princess..
When Miss Minchin was having a "hard time" telling Sara her father "died" I always thought that she really was having a hard time telling a little girl her father died but now I realize she was figuring out rather or not she would lie to Sara and she did..When that man came to talk to Miss. Minchin he didn't tell her that Sara's father died he most likely told her he was still alive but wounded in battle but Minchin was jealous of Sara's life cause clearly she didn't have a good childhood and wanted revenge and so she took it out on Sara. I do wish we got more of a backstory for Minchin but later when she teared up about Sara asking her if her father ever called her a Princess it was clear that her father either treated her badly or abused her....Which is why she was so cruel and mean....If I were Sarah I would of left the school and looked for housing and work else where..Miss. Minchin had no right to treat Sara that way but she gets hers in the end. Eleanor Bron was so great as Miss. Minchin, I wrote to Eleanor and told her that I did feel sorry for Minchin because of her childhood...I'm sure Minchin just wanted to be loved and hey if she was nicer to not just Sara but Becky and the other girls and even her sister too they would of loved her..So Minchin did have a choice I understood she was most likely a very sad and lonely woman. I did get a very sweet reply from Eleanor with a not and a autograph. She is a great actress and Minchin is a scary but great villain...
he, that man said the late Captain Crew late means passed away. it's clear that lady was so jealous over a little girl who was such a humble and kind. minchin taking that locket like not materialistic to sarah it belonged to her mom and had picture of her father and mother inside like dang this child is grieving like can't give her a little time too to grieve nope up at 5am. Now that she’s poor and alone in the world and has to work for her living, Sara must use her inner strength to survive, to maintain her dignity, and above all to carry on.
Even though I feel sad and heartbroken for Sara since she doesn’t have a family and is very poor, I know she’s determined to be positive no matter what as well as remain a princess inside.
I agree that it’s sad, but I believe her father is alive and Sara will later discover a strength she has in her that she’s not even aware of which is intuition.
I love this movie, but now that I'm going to be an attorney, I can't help but wonder why this rich, smart guy who was going to be a soldier didn't get himself a will to help out his daughter just in case he died????
Being how spiteful Miss Minchin was to Sara, she would have just taken her father's money even if he did leave a will in place, but I agree that he should have had some sort of plan in case he died in the war.
Sara is a female on a time when women only got married and we’re owned by there fathers then husbands. so she wouldNt be allowed money. A man must control of all women’s money
This is my favorite version of the little Princess. I feel like there were some parts in this movie that reminded me of a real story of a girl named Aurore Gagnon she lived in a small room in her house in Canada and was very mistreated by her step mom and her dad and she did die but for some reason there are some scenes in a little princess that remind me of the story of Aurore.
i have a theroy that minchin went to that school with sarah mum... and hated that sarah mum was just as popular as sarah but never minich never got over it so took it upon herself to get even with sarah and thats why she hates her soo much but trys to hide it.
Miss Minchin, do you honestly think Sara can be arrested for taking something that actually BELONGS TO HER?!?! 😡 You've got a lot of nerve calling that sweet little girl a thief when YOU'RE the one who stole her locket! 😤
This movie taught me early on that there are adult bullies & people in the world that only like you for your status or what you can do for them. I felt the fake on Ms. Minchin right away. When Amelia ran away with her love, that gave me hope too. I'm a bigger girl & movies aren't always kind to us. She didn't have a lot of screen time with her story, but I'm glad she got a happy ending!
I went through a traumatic 3rd grade with a teacher who mistreated me and didn’t understand my disability. I ran off campus one day and it traumatized my parents. My mom took the school district to court and pulled me out of school.
Miss Minchin was taking it since even though she couldn’t rob Sara of her money, she could rob her of her belongings. Besides, she’s very greedy and likes to rob other people of their things.
Miss Minchin forced the the necklace off Sara’s neck and accused her of stealing it, BUT she did not steal it, her father gave it to her before she came to America, Miss Minchin should be the one to be arrested for accusing Sara of stealing it, I think miss Minchin should be kicked out of the school for her crimes and actions against her.
Good thing she got a punishment for her actions at the end, but you're right, Miss Minchin isn't cut out to run the school with her cruel attitude. 😒 And yeah, they should've arrested her instead. 🙄
Watch this back in 1995 I was 10 with my sister and my sister also had the book it had some pictures from the movie in color. Time we could dream we were all princess as we still can just have to believe keep going.
When I saw a little princess & sara's father sends her 2 miss minchin's seminary for girls & miss minchin told sara that her died while he was fighting in the war & miss minchin lets sara stay at the school & work as a servant & when miss minchin takes sara's locket away cuz she thinks that sara stole it & miss minchin was fired from the school cuz she treated Sara & Becky really cruel & I'm glad that miss minchin got exactly what she deserved at the end of a little princess movie
Even though Miss Minchin took the locket since she likes anything valuable and she thinks it all belongs to her, the ending shows us how sometimes good things happen to good people while bad things happen to bad people.
Did anyone notice Miss Minchin was a racist in this movie? When Lottie told Sara that Becky wasn't allowed to talk to the other girls because "she's a servant girl and she has dark skin", it shows you Miss Minchin was also a racist.
That was sadly all too common during that time period. Sara, being born in India, would have been exposed to the world and different cultures. But in the States, the race divide was huge. Sadly Becky would have only been allowed to be a servant because of her race and had no other opportunities.
This meant that if she chose to give her shelter, Sara would have to work for her living. When Sara heard this she agreed to work for one reason, she knew it would give her a distraction from her pain.
This hits harder when u lived it and the Ms minchins are your own family. My mom had to go away for a while when I was 12 because she was sick and my so called family treated me with the same hatefulness like Ms minchin did to Sara. But my mom also came back for me like Sara’s dad did

I've seen other versions of this story and film, but this one is by far my favorite of them all.
It breaks my heart when I see Sara lying in her circle of safety, crying for her dad. But I know he’s alive.
I know what you mean. You know the happy ending is coming. But the build up to it becomes a different story
Yep, minchin just lies to her 😂
@@AnnChris-j4k she’s not only very greedy, but she’s a lair as well.
The fact that all this happens on Sara's birthday only twists the knife deeper 😭
Yep, a huge lot, until the huge lie 😮
When Miss Minchin said "You're not a princess any longer" and her candles went out, it just shows you what a dark spirit she has.
It’s tough to find a movie where the hero and villain are equally compelling.
I guess she’s saying that because she’s determined to break Sara’s spirit, but nothing she does seems to work. Besides, Sara’s determined to remain a princess inside even though others might think she’s no longer a princess..
Miss Mitchin should have said something like that to princess morebucks you’re not a princess any longer
YES
Sara reminded minchin of a world where women were not raised to be soulless servants and it was a threat to her
I easily shed a tear or two the first time when Sara cried “Papa”. And I love that black balloon shot! Poetic in a way
Miss Minchin should be arrested. It was Sara's locket as her father gave it to her. She accused Sara of being a thief when she was the thief.
Miss Minchin is a Sociopath.
Now imagine if she was even more heartless by ordering an execution to Sarah, that would even make more sense to her evil and jealous nature, right?
If I was in Sara's place, I would straight up crush her poker face with my hooves ( Im actually an Aepygigantogiraffa 🦒 ).
Miss Minchin goes to hell
She should have been arrested when the police came when they seen how she treated those girls!

So heartbreaking seeing a grown woman attempt to break a young girl's spirit for ominous reasons.
It's sad and scary
As a servant even when things are really bad, Sara refuses to let her spirit be broken and is determined to remain a princess inside.
